"This is insane! It really was the Bronx Zoo!" Another look back documentary heading to streaming soon. Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a documentary series titled Bronx Zoo '90: Crime, Chaos & Baseball, which is a real mouthful title for this sports history mini-series. It's about the 1990 New York Yankees, which not only was one of the worst years in Yankees history, but one of the most controversial with all kinds of problems with players, management, and beyond. Now that title makes sense! Based on a series of articles from New York Post columnist Joel Sherman, this docu series covers team owner George Steinbrenner’s removal from baseball for trying to buy info on Dave Winfield, and every other mishap and incident. Series interviews include Don Mattingly, Steve Sax, Dave Lapoint, Kevin Maas, Jim Leyritz, Jesse Barfield, former Yankees manager Buck Showalter, Yankees' announcer Michael Kay, Brian Cashman,...

It’s a zoo out there. In 1990, the New York Yankees were a disaster; these were not the Derek Jeter years.
With a 67-95 record, 1990 was the first time in 24 years the Bronx Bombers finished in last place in the division, a whopping 21 games behind the rival the Boston Red Sox. It was the team’s worst record since 1912, two years before Babe Ruth even entered Major League Baseball (and eight years before he joined the Yankees). How bad were the 1990 Yankees? They threw a no-hitter and lost.
A new docuseries coming soon to Peacock, “Bronx Zoo ’90: Crime, Chaos, and Baseball,” gives the abysmal season a “The Last Dance” spin, covering both the drama on the field and off. Like what? Well, there was the time when Yankee owner George Steinbrenner paid a notorious gambler to dig up dirt on superstar player Dave Winfield. That gambler is interviewed in...

Prime Video will be the home of 21 Yankees games this season, 19 of which will occur on Wednesday nights.
It is getting increasingly difficult for sports fans to watch all of their favorite team’s games in one convenient, centralized streaming location. Between regional sports networks (RSNs) and streaming exclusives, it is nearly impossible to keep up with where your team is playing without a scorecard. That is doubly true when you follow one of the most popular franchises in all of sports, because then you have to factor in network and cable national broadcasts as well. Fans of the New York Yankees are used to this, and on Friday, they got the details on which Bronx Bombers’ games would be streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
Key Points: For the third-straight year Yankees games will stream on Prime Video. There will be 21 Nyy on Amazon’s streamer this season for fans...

Baltimore Orioles play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown is back in the announcer’s booth for tonight’s game against Seattle. He’s returning after being banished since late July for allegedly disparaging remarks about the team.
Before his comeback, he issued a statement this afternoon that made things seem like all was forgiven between him and Orioles management. He said reports that he was ousted for his comments were “mischaracterized.”
No one was buying it.
Michael Kay, the New York Yankees play-by-play voice for Yes Network, said Brown’s statement was “like a hostage tape.”
“That was a statement that was obviously vetted by the Orioles and their senior vice president,” Kay added.“I don’t blame Kevin for putting that out there because he didn’t deny what happened. He said, ‘Don’t listen to the noise.’ The noise is true.”

Fox Sports is betting big on MLB analyst Alex Rodriguez.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the 14-time MLB all star and World Series champion is closing in on a contract extension with Fox Sports, a deal that if completed will keep him working big MLB games for Fox for years to come.
Rodriguez is a critical piece of Fox’s MLB on Fox studio team, working alongside host Kevin Burkhardt, 10-time all star and three-time world champion David Ortiz (“Big Papi”), as well as 14-time all star and 5-time world champion Derek Jeter, who previously played with Rodriguez on the New York Yankees.
Terms of the new Fox deal were not immediately clear, though it is believed to be the most lucrative deal yet for an MLB analyst, with a term of more than three years.

On Monday, ESPN revealed the remaining “Sunday Night Baseball” “KayRod” broadcasts for the 2023 Major League Baseball season, just as we start to get into the dog days of summer. Get ready for a heavy helping of the New York Mets, which may be good or bad depending on your preferences in seeing a big market team struggle.
Now in its second season, the “KayRod” broadcast stars three-time American League M.V.P. Alex Rodriguez and Michael Kay, the television voice of the New York Yankees. The broadcast serves as a more relaxed alternate presentation of “Sunday Night Baseball,” and airs on ESPN2 while the game’s main broadcast airs on ESPN.
Five more Sunday night games will receive the “KayRod” treatment, two in July and three more in August. The first will be a July 2 tilt between the San Francisco Giants and the Mets. Then on July 23, the Mets travel...

The New York Yankees are hosting the Boston Red Sox for a four-game series, but this edition of the teams’ fierce rivalry has different stakes than usual.

The first time comic Elon Gold met Larry David was at a 2017 panel discussion between Alan Dershowitz — famed civil liberties attorney-cum-Trump-era Martha’s Vineyard social pariah — and conservative talk-show host Dennis Prager. Following the event, Gold approached the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and star, who attended at the behest of then-friend Dershowitz (with whom David has since had a widely publicized falling out).
“I said, ‘What’d you think of the debate?’” Gold recalls. “And Larry said, ‘I was annoyed the whole time. I was bothered the whole time.’ And I’m like, ‘What happened?’ And he goes, ‘I saw someone that I knew, and I tapped the person in front of me to tap the person in front of him, and he refused.’”
Gold responded, “He didn’t forward the tap.”

Can Alex Rodriguez do for ESPN’s baseball presentations what Peyton and Eli Manning have done for its “Monday Night Football”? The Disney-backed sports-media giant is going to find out.
ESPN on Friday outlined a new strategy for its flagship “Sunday Night Baseball,” setting up Rodriguez and veteran sports commentator Michael Kay in a special flanker presentation of eight games on ESPN2 while enlisting David Cone in a new multi-year deal alongside Karl Ravech and Eduardo Perez for the original “Snb.” The plan appears to emulate what ESPN has done in the fall, broadcasting its regular “Monday Night Football” on its primary cable network while setting up the Manning brothers and guests ranging from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to David Letterman in a freewheeling bull session that plays off game action.

“We’ve been cooped for so long,” Crystal says, “what could be better...

The Emmys must go on, and the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will become the first to hand out awards in this current shelter-at-home environment. The 63rd annual New York Emmy Awards will be announced on Saturday via a pre-produced webcast that could serve as a template for how other awards shows might proceed over the next few months.
The webcast — to be streamed live on the New York Emmy Awards website and on Facebook Live — will feature presenters opening sealed envelopes and announcing winners in 137 categories via remote locations that have been pre-taped all around New York. It takes the place of a gala originally scheduled to be held at the Marriott Marquis hotel on April 18.
“We’re giving it a try to be creative,” said Robert Lazo, NATAS’ interim director of awards and communications. “Yes, it would have been easier just to post a press release,...

A tweet from President Donald Trump is drawing online mockery for a reason having less to do with politics than with his pop-culture Iq.
Trump shared a short, profanity-laced clip from a recent Curb Your Enthusiasm episode with his 72 million followers. The 28-second clip (watch it below) from Curb‘s Season 10 premiere, “Happy New Year,” is peppered with expletives. It shows Larry David defusing a road-rage clash with an angry biker by donning a red “Make America Great Again” cap.
The Maga moment is part of the episode’s running storyline of Larry wearing the hat as a cynical ploy to avoid people he doesn’t want to see. At no point does Larry declare any political affinity for Trump; on La’s left-leaning Westside, the hat is merely...

There is something of a battle in pushing a series beyond the confines of a trilogy at the worst of times, let alone the best. Some emerge as shockingly incredible, others polarise viewers and some are shocking for all the wrong reasons but when the stakes are as high as this, you do ask yourself “was it necessary”? In 2010, Pixar emotionally destroyed audiences with Toy Story 3, a film that delivered a poignant ride that left us reeling after we witnessed Woody, Buzz (Tim Allen), Jesse (Joan Cusack) and the gang say “so long partner” to audiences. It was practically a perfect send off, so when Toy Story 4 was announced (and apparently written during production of the third), even the most optimistic among us had to ask, is another outing required? Arguably the answer was no but as Toy Story 4 rides into cinemas, I have to tip my...

“Pooped in the kitty litter” sounds like a fun phrase that should mean something more than literally crapping in a box. Like, “Oh, man, Friday night was insane! Sully really pooped in the kitty litter at O’Grady’s!”
But when it comes to Tracy Morgan, “pooped in the kitty litter” is exactly what it sounds like. In a new episode of Centerstage on the Yes Network that will air tomorrow night at 10 p.m. Et, he tells host Michael Kay that a particular night of hardcore partying in Hollywood reduced him to imitating the family feline and contributed to the breakup of his marriage.
