Don Roy King, the veteran “Saturday Night Live” director who has helped guide the show behind the scenes since 2006, is set to retire and will be replaced by Liz Patrick, who has directed Ellen DeGeneres’ long-running talk show.
An NBC spokeswoman for “SNL” confirmed details of the switch. King is just the fourth director in the history of the venerable late-night program, which is set to launch its 47th season this weekend. King also held stints at “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather,” “CBS This Morning” and “Good Morning America.” He followed Dave Wilson, who did two terms on the show; Paul Miller and Beth McCarthy Miller. Los Angeles, Jan 6 (Ians) Hollywood star Vin Diesel on Wednesday shared that he is excited about getting back to filming and dropped hints that he might be back as the superhero Bloodshot.
The actor took to Instagram to share a picture in which he seems to be sitting in an airplane and scouting for locations for his next.
"2021 the possibilities are unlimited... excited to get back to filming. #locationscouting #Bloodshot #Riddick," he wrote with the picture.
Last year, Diesel took on the superhero avatar for the film "Bloodshot" to tell the story of super-soldier Ray, aka the superhero Bloodshot, who is brought back from the dead by a corporation through the use of nanotechnology. It was directed by Dave Wilson.
Some time back, after almost nine months since it's theatrical release, Diesel took to instagram to tease some "good news" for the film.
"So much great news to share... have a great week!

Though Bloodshot didn’t exactly set the box office ablaze in the way Sony would’ve liked, Vin Diesel’s sci-fi actioner still managed to carve out an audience of its own.
As a matter of fact, if you missed Sony’s budding franchise-starter on the silver screen, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s already available across VOD. There’s just one problem – said digital version doesn’t include any deleted scenes, alternate endings, or the other special features one would expect.
But that all changes next week – May 5th, to be specific – when Sony will bring Bloodshot to Blu-ray and DVD replete with special features. Among the highlights is that aforementioned alternate ending, while those who purchase the digital version can lack forward to a four-part animation that seeks to explore the bleeding-edge tech of the Rst corporation.

After seven seasons on Fox’s hit comedy New Girl, Bloodshot star Lamorne Morris is eager to show Hollywood that he’s capable of so much more. Such initiative proved to be decisive in his Bloodshot casting as Wilfred Wigans, a renowned hacker who’s caught in the middle of Bloodshot’s (Vin Diesel) pursuit of revenge. Instead of using a cellphone or web camera to make a traditional audition tape, Morris added substantial production value to his self-tape, which motivated director Dave Wilson to cast him on the same day he watched the tape.

Built around a comic-book hero created in 1992, Dave Wilson’s Valiant Comics adaptation “Bloodshot” is a throwback actioner that likely would have killed in the late ’90s, but now feels every inch the product of that era’s humor and innovation. In a rapidly changing world, however, that might not be a bad thing.

With the coronavirus mercilessly sweeping the planet, places where people gather to be entertained are being shut down, and cinemas are sadly no exception. This is playing havoc with the release schedules of major movies with many now being released digitally, the latest of which is action film Bloodshot, available from today.
Helmed by VFX artist Dave Wilson, whose only previous directorial credit is Sonnie’s Edge, the quite decent premiere episode of sci-fi anthology series Love, Death & Robots, the movie sees Vin Diesel growl, scowl and punch his way through a story that casts him as a marine killed in action and reanimated by a shady cybernetics company who continually erase his memory and use him as an assassin to take out their competition.
In the brief time the film could be seen in theaters, it spectacularly failed to set the world on fire, mostly due to its generic story and disappointing visuals.

In what is becoming a familiar refrain after Universal Pictures opened the floodgates on Monday, a relatively popular new release is heading directly to video-on-demand as the coronavirus crisis worsens. This time it is Vin Diesel’s superhero actioner, Bloodshot, that is breaking through the theatrical window like some kind of cybernetic super soldier.
Sony and Columbia Pictures’ Bloodshot, which debuted in third place at the box office this past weekend, will make its VOD debut on March 24. This very reasonable move is being made after the film already suffered from the historically low moviegoing attendance of the past week. And that began even before movie theaters started voluntarily shutting down nationwide in both the U.S. and UK. New York and Los Angeles mayors have also legally closed all theaters in their cities.
Bloodshot competitor The Hunt was among the movies that made history, alongside The Invisible Man and Emma.

The latest comic-book to be adapted as a film, Bloodshot, stars Vin Diesel as a recently murdered soldier named Ray Garrison who is resurrected and bestowed with super strength and healing abilities thanks to nanotechnology coursing through his veins. Now, of course, he’s hell bent on exacting revenge on those that not only caused his early demise, but robbed him of the love of his life. Or is he? Unfortunately, that is where the intrigue takes leave of Bloodshot leaving a slog of a movie to get through.
Somehow, the film’s one hour and forty-nine minute running time ends up feeling much longer than it is as the story drags on and on and never finds a rhythm of any kind. Okay action flick fans, it’s still fairly early in the movie year but who’s ready for a high-octane thriller based on a comic book character? I’m guessing the answer’s a resounding yes, though the superheroes don’t generally invade the multiplex for several more weeks. So which comics publishing company is the print home of the possible subject of a new big franchise? It’s not the current “golden stable of stars” Marvel (now part of the “Mouse House”). Nor is it the older line that’s trying hard to “catch up”, DC (linked with Warner Brothers). Perhaps it’s Image, the upstarts that gave us Spawn? Nope, but you’re getting closer. One of its ilk from around the same era is Valiant Comics (Entertainment as they expand), part of the independent press explosion of the early to mid-1990s. Back then the readers were...

Dave Wilson’s Bloodshot adaptation is a sanitized superhero origin story that never elevates itself above preconceived expectations. Vin Diesel plays deadly serious despite the film’s tone crying for a more energetic leading protagonist. Tank tops, bulgy biceps, and hard stares detail a comic book movie that lifelessly jumps from page to screen. Dialogue only favors one eccentric hacker, action interludes are frustrating, whirly-blurry messes – hell, I can’t recall the name “Bloodshot” uttered once. Frankly, this could be retitled Angry Science Experiment Man and no editing room modifications would be needed. Worst of all? Cinema’s most unforgivable sin is committed: the fate of being forgettable.

At this point, it’s hard to imagine that any comic book properties haven’t been mined for film. However, we have a new one in Bloodshot, but it does seem rather unlikely to start up a new franchise for star Vin Diesel. While on paper, this flick must have seemed like a cool vehicle for him, it instead offers up nothing we haven’t seen before, along with a visual style where you can never see anything during the myriad action scenes. In short order, you become disengaged and frankly rather frustrated. Those who expect a sequel from this initial outing are likely to be very disappointed. The movie is based on a comic book, as you might imagine. "You are My weapon!" Sony has launched a second "international" trailer for upcoming action sci-fi movie Bloodshot, due out in just a few months. This is yet another comic book adaptation, about a slain soldier who is re-animated with superpowers based on nanotechnology injected into him. It's based on the comic book character known as Bloodshot, published in various Valiant Comics, the first appearance in 1992. Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero "Bloodshot" by the Rst corporation. This seems to be a twisted mix of Upgrade and RoboCop, along with some of the usual Vin Diesel tropes you might expect. The full cast includes Guy Pearce, Eiza González, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, Lamorne Morris, Talulah Riley, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, and Siddharth Dhananjay. This looks like a killer action movie - derivative but still badass nonetheless. Here's the...

We’ve got a new international trailer to share with you today for Vin Diesel’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller Bloodshot. This is actually a very different trailer than the first one that was released. It has a totally different vibe and offers up even more footage from the movie.
In the film, Diesel takes on the role of a former soldier named Ray Garrison, who is given powers of regeneration, technomancy, and metamorphosis, which is made possible through nanites that are injected into his blood after he is killed. Regardless of the fact that Diesel isn’t sporting the comic accurate look of the character, the movie looks like it will deliver some fun, action-packed entertainment.
Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
After he and his wife are murdered, Marine Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is resurrected by a secret team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman,...

Soldiers, like yourself. You’re the first who we successful managed to bring back.”
Diesel’s character discovers that he has an army of nanotechnology in his veins to make him close to immortal, giving him superhuman strength and the ability to heal instantly. Rst also has control over his mind and memories.

The first trailer for Bloodshot sets Vin Diesel on a Memento-ish rampage.
Vin Diesel action vehicle Bloodshot has unveiled its first trailer, and what better way to start the week? Sure - another day, another comic book movie, but this one has a little Tony Scott-ness to it, so we're going to give it an easy pass.
The directorial debut of Dave Wilson, who was in charge of the visual effects on Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Bloodshot stars Diesel as resurrected supersoldier Raymond Garrison, who has the ability to both shapeshift and heal very quickly, and who becomes a pawn in a deadly game. This is supposed to be the start of a Valiant Entertainment comic book universe, but follow-up project Harbinger has since moved to Paramount, so we'll see. Thanks to MacFarland Toys, we have a new look at Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot as an action figure. We previously got a look at the movie version of the character in a piece of comic book variant cover art that was shared. Bloodshot is a super-soldier created by the secret government organization Project Rising Spirit. At last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, “SNL” won for its lighting design, makeup, production design, and for the “Creating Saturday Night Live” short form series. That pushed the number to 76 for its 44 years on the air. No guest actors prevailed, although it had many chances with Sandra Oh, Emma Thompson, Matt Damon, Robert De Niro, John Mulaney and Adam Sandler all nominated. For this week’s ceremony, they lost out for Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Kate McKinnon) and for Best Variety Series Writing.
