Inside Madam Secretary's Final Season Creative Revamp: 'It Was Like Launching a New Series,' Ep Says
During her time as Secretary of State, Madam Secretary‘s Elizabeth McCord fearlessly has brokered peace, de-escalated wars and advanced human rights causes around the world. But on a sticky night in late August, a bit of horsehide and some red stitching had the former diplomat on edge.
The nerves stemmed from the fact that the (fictional) Elizabeth, played by the (real) Téa Leoni, was set to throw the first pitch at the (real) Indians vs. Mets game at New York’s Citi Field… as American presidents have been known to do.

Madam Secretary is losing a series regular ahead of its final season.
TV Line is reporting that Sara Ramirez is stepping down as a series regular, but there's hope that she could return for a guest appearance to wrap up her character's storyline.
Ramirez has played Kat Sandoval on the political drama since the fourth season. She was drafted in to replace Bebe Neuwirth, who played Nadine Tolliver.
If you watch Madam Secretary online, you know that Kat had left the world of politics behind prior to Elizabeth managing to bring her back into it.
Ramirez is best known for her role on the ABC medical juggernaut Grey's Anatomy. She departed the series after over a decade in the role in 2016.

The trio filmed their scenes on July 11, and Albright — America’s first female Secretary of State, who served under President Clinton from 1997-2001 — tweeted this today:

CBS still hasn't cancelled its Madam Secretary TV show, despite Nielsen ratings declines in both its 18-49 year old demo and total viewership numbers. In the 2016-17 television season, this show's demo ratings ranked 20th out of 26 scripted CBS series, but it drew enough viewers to rank eighth in terms of audience size. An all but unimpeachable snitch swears that “Madam Secretary” actress Kathrine Herzer, daughter of Manuela Herzer, the unceremoniously ousted and aggrieved former live-in companion of ailing media tycoon Sumner Redstone, has quietly forked over $850,000 for a stylishly updated one-bedroom and one-bathroom condominium in a walled, gated and Hollywood-pedigreed 1930s courtyard complex just above the bustling heart of L.A.’s perennially chic Sunset Strip.

Convincing an arms dealer to negotiate a temporary peace treaty between two of his clients is nothing getting your kids into college.
Elizabeth took multitasking to a whole new level on Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 19 as she managed to broker a deal to save thousand from starvation and still "be" with the family for the reveal of Ali's big news.
While the nitty-gritty of implementing a cease fire through back channels and arranging aid for thousands of people was interesting, and tracking terrorists provides high stakes, it was the McCord home life that stole the show.
Henry and Elizabeth's relationship is clearly the bedrock of Madame Secretary, but I loved how this really broke down how they parent, and how they make their family work. It doesn't just happen. It's a coordinated effort, a deliberate exercise, not just a series of off the cuff reactions.
But I think the key...

Sacre bleu!
Two big story arcs were tied up comme un grand cadeau with a bow on Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 5. With the mastermind behind the stalking locked up and Henry's beloved statues safe, there's only the election left unresolved. I guess it would be too much to ask that we be given a break from political campaigns?
Having Julius Burton turn out to be the man threatening the McCords was unexpected only because it was so outrageous. His presumptuous directions to Dalton made a smidge more believable, but there were so many other factors that just made it unbelievable.
I try to suspend belief when I watch TV, but my inner political wonk was laughing at the idea that somebody of Burton's standing wouldn't be contributing to all of the candidates. Even if I let that minor gripe go, it's hard to believe that he'd be so stupid as...

Though politics are an extra touchy subject these days, CBS decided to order a new drama about a blonde, female Secretary of State -- Madam Secretary. Some feel that it's a thinly-veiled allusion to Hillary Clinton while others see the show as a piece of fiction. Either way, CBS is a corporation that makes money from selling advertising and must attract healthy ratings to do that. Is Madam Secretary a success with viewers? Will it survive? Cancel or keep it?
