Jennifer Yale has joined the untitled Peacock espionage thriller series starring Simu Liu as co-showrunner, Variety has learned.
The show was announced with a straight-to-series order earlier in February. Thomas Brandon created the series and will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Yale.
The official description of the series states, “Five minutes in the future, a first-generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu) realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Yale most recently wrote for the Apple TV+ series “See” starring Jason Momoa. Her other credits include “Dexter,” “Legion,” “Underground,” “Outlander,” and “Chambers.” She is also currently developing the series “De La Resistance” based on the life of Josephine Baker with A24 producing and Janelle Monae starring and executive producing.

Applications for The Disruptors, the annual fellowship for emerging television writers of color who identify as either trans, gender nonbinary, undocumented / formerly undocumented, or disabled, are now open for the 2022 program season.
Taking place from August – November this year, The Disruptors will offer mentorship, compensation, community, and a virtual and in-person space, when it is safe to do so, for fellows to create the materials they need to enter the industry.
According to the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at the University of Southern California, 91 percent of television show creators are white, and 81 percent are men. HBO Max has given a series order to “Subject to Change,” a new drama created by J.J. Abrams. Jennifer Yale is set to serve as showrunner on the project from Warner Bros. Television and Abrams’ Bad Robot.
The series follows a desperate college student who signs up for a clinical trial that is the starting point for a reality-bending adventure.
“It’s been incredible fun weaving this rather insane yarn with Jenn, and I am grateful to her and everyone at HBO Max for the opportunity to bring this story to life,” Abrams said.
“Subject to Change” is the second Abrams-created show to land a series order from a WarnerMedia platform since Abrams signed a massive overall deal with the company in 2019. “Demimonde,” another Abrams original, is already in the works at HBO proper.

Chuck Palahniuk is best known for his novel Fight Club, but there was another book he wrote in 1999 called Invisible Monsters and that story is now being adapted into a series by Fabrik Entertainment and they’ve hired Legion, Dexter, and Outlander writer Jennifer Yale to write it.
Fabrik Entertainment is the same production company behind Amazon’s incredible cop drama Bosch. This will be the first time one of Palahniuk’s novels will get the TV treatment, and with the team behind the development, it’s sure to turn out great.
Invisible Monsters centers on “a fashion model who has everything: the perfect boyfriend, a thriving career, a loyal best friend — until a freeway accident leaves her disfigured and incapable of speech. She quickly goes from the beautiful center of attention to being perceived as an invisible monster. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a woman.

There will be no Chambers season 2 at the streaming service.
It's another case of "one and done" at Netflix for supernatural drama series Chambers. The show, which debuted on the streaming giant on April 26th, now joins the likes of Everything Sucks! by getting just a single season to play out its story on Netflix (via Variety). It's likely that poor viewing figures and the show's critical meh-ing combined to form a decent enough flow of reasons not to greenlight a Chambers season 2.
Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn fronted Chambers, in which teen Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) finds herself at the center of a disturbing mystery when she gets a heart transplant and experiences upsetting visions of her donor's past.

“Chambers,” Netflix’s new horror series, doesn’t have much going for it — it’s a grody, nasty piece of work, a story that would at least be endurable if it were the under-ninety-minute movie it seems to want to be. But it does boast the casting of both Tony Goldwyn (in his first post-”Scandal” role) and Uma Thurman, two stars that might not have signed on to a version of this story that didn’t have the patina of prestige that comes with an overlong season on streaming. Too bad for them: They’re stranded in a story that goes nowhere fast, reliant on cheap scares with nothing behind them.
The story is frustrating in part because it seems to be saying something at its outset. Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) is a pleasantly typical American girl — dutiful but free-spirited in predictable proportion — before she suffers cardiac arrest and receives a transplanted heart,...
