“Jane the Virgin’s” Latin Lover narrator, the three-time Emmy-nominated voiceover veteran Anthony Mendez, will be taking his narrating talents over to Disney Plus for the new food art competition series “Foodtastic.”
Keke Palmer will host “Foodtastic,” where teams are challenged to create Disney-inspired works of culinary art. The show will push three teams of contestants to their creative limits in the kitchen, testing their ability to whip up whimsical and grandiose food sculptures made out of everything from cheese and butter to fruits and vegetables. The food artists’ completed masterpieces will be judged by design, technical skills and storyline, not by taste. Unused food from each competition won’t be wasted and will instead be donated to local food banks.
Mendez, who earned two of his three Emmy nods on “Jane the Virgin” (in 2015 and 2016), is expected to have some fun with Palmer and the contestants during his “Foodtastic” gig.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced theatrical release dates for three big event movies tonight — and their intention is that they’re going straight to the big screen, not HBO Max and theaters. Those three are the George Miller Max Max prequel Furiosa on June 23, 2023, Dave Green’s animated hybrid Coyote vs. Acme on July 21, 2023 and The Color Purple musical feature on Dec. 20, 2023. The announcement was made today by Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, and the intent is to launch the trio as global theatrical releases (not timed with a simultaneous HBO drop; which is the intent for their 2021 theatrical release).
It’s a nuanced announcement from the motion picture side of Warner Bros (sans any exec quotes) to indicate they’re not trying to meltdown exhibition coming out of the pandemic. Ever since Warners announced their radical 2021 day-and-date theatrical and streaming release strategy earlier this month, zoom calls at...

Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday that it has greenlit three tentpole films to enter preproduction: the “Mad Max: Fury Road” spinoff “Furiosa,” the Warner Animation Group live-action/animated hybrid “Coyote vs. Acme,” and an adaptation of the Broadway musical version of “The Color Purple.”
“Furiosa” will be a prequel to “Fury Road” that explores the past of the heroine made famous by Charlize Theron in the Oscar-winning 2015 action film. Anya Taylor-Joy will play a younger Furiosa and star alongside Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. “Mad Max” creator George Miller returns as writer/director/producer, and the film is set for release on June 23, 2023.

Cue the falling pianos: Warner Bros.’ Wile E. Coyote movie, “Coyote vs. Acme,” is one step closer to the big screen, having secured director Dave Green.
Green will help develop the live action-animation hybrid, which is currently seeking a writer. The animated feature follows the infamous Looney Tunes prairie woof whose objective is obliterating his nemesis Road Runner. Acme is the fictional company that provides Coyote with his many weapons, all of which invariably fail, leaving him squashed flat or burnt to a crisp.
Green most recently helmed 2016’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” which was released by Paramount and earned over $245 million worldwide. Prior to that, he directed the cult animated film “Earth to Echo,” about a group of kids who come to the rescue of a visiting alien. He is a protege of Sam Raimi, and a prolific music video and short film director. Green is with UTA,...

Warner Bros. is moving forward with their feature film adaptation of the classic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote "super genius." The film will be called Coyote Vs. Acme and the studio has hired Jon and Josh Silberman, the supervising producers behind CBS’ Living Biblically and writers of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, to write the script.
There are no details on the story, but Deadline does mention that "out of all the Looney Tunes characters with the most slaptstick potential, the arrogant and often tragic Wile E. Coyote offers limitless possibilities, even when he’s acting alone at the edge of a cliff with a parachute and anvil."
I love Wile E. Coyote! He's easily my favorite character in the Looney Tunes gang and I hope that this movie actually turns out to be as great as I imagine it to be. There's so much awesome potential to play with here!

Warner Bros. is developing “Coyote Vs. Acme” as a Wile E. Coyote animated movie with “Lego Batman” director Chris McKay on board to produce.
The sibling team of Jon and Josh Silberman, whose writing and producing credits include “Living Biblically,” “Bordertown,” “Deadbeat,” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” have been hired by the studio to write the “Coyote Vs. Acme” script.
Wile E. Coyote is part of Warner’s Looney Tunes characters, which include Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, and Marvin the Martian. The dialogue-free Coyote character first appeared in 1949 in “Fast and Furry-ous,” the first of 49 cartoons in which he was never able to catch the Road Runner, despite using complex devices from the fictitious Acme Corporation. The Acme contraptions invariably fail, leaving the Coyote squashed flat or burnt to a crisp.
