Lauren Conrad has built her empire: She’s a renowned fashion designer, author and pastel social media legend. But she’s also — and always will be — the girl who didn’t go to Paris. While Conrad may have left the Hollywood Hills to return to her humble waterfront mansion beginnings in Laguna Beach, she left behind a millennial legacy: The Hills. An LA-based MTV spin-off to the reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, the show became a true pop culture phenomenon from 2006 to 2010. It followed a 19-year-old Conrad in her black BMW convertible to the City of Angels where she landed a coveted internship at Teen Vogue. Along with her bestie (later turned-frenemy) Heidi Montag, who would marry Spencer Pratt, The Hills found its best storylines in friendships and work opportunities — along with the dramatic, mascara-running dissolution of Lauren and Heidi’s relationship.

MTV’s reality show The Hills, a spinoff from Laguna Beach, followed the turbulent lives of young women navigating the entertainment industry and personal relationships. Cast member Lo Bosworth, among others like Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, faced unique challenges on the set. Bosworth described how they were often put in compromised situations, compelled to compete intensely against each other, much akin to a blood sport just to get through a day of production. Bosworth joined The Hills after Lauren Conrad, her friend from Laguna Beach had established her career there. However, she admits the transition wasn’t smooth. Unlike Laguna Beach,

Stephen Colletti and Jason Wahler don’t make many public appearances these days. However, the two reality TV stars used to be front and center in pop culture. Laguna Beach and The Hills fans know them from their embattled relationships with Lauren Conrad. Others may recognize them for their forays into acting (Colletti) and public battle with addiction (Wahler).

Theresa Caputo is best known for her psychic abilities. Her hair is almost equally well-known. For years, fans have implored the medium to shy away from her sky-high hairdo for something more modern. The Long Island native is bombarded with comments about her hair whenever she posts to Instagram. Caputo, however, insists that her extreme hair has a perfectly practical purpose, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be changing it anytime soon.
Theresa Caputo’s signature hair has a practical explanation
Theresa Caputo’s signature hairstyle is the result of a traumatic haircut. Caputo told the U.S. Sun that she sat down with a hairstylist shortly after her grandmother’s death and, in an impulsive moment, allowed the stylist to chop off her long locks.

People have been curious about Chace Crawford's love life since his early "Gossip Girl" days. The 38-year-old actor, who currently stars as The Deep on "The Boys," has had only had three confirmed relationships - although there have been plenty of rumored romances, including relationships with "Dancing With the Stars"'s Erin Andrews and "Twilight"'s Ashley Greene. Gossip has also swirled about possible hookups with everyone from "Gossip Girl's" Taylor Momsen to Lauren Conrad, although those are most likely just rumors.
While his relationships with Blake Lively's Serena and Leighton Meester's Blair on "Gossip Girl" were deeply chaotic and dramatic, Crawford's personal love life seems much more laid-back. The actor, who grew up in Texas and made his film debut in the 2006 supernatural drama "The Covenant," was cast as Nate Archibald in "Gossip Girl" in March 2007 and quickly become one of TV's most desirable bachelors.

It took just 11 words to forever alter the history of reality television: "I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you."
Fans of The Hills will never forget Lauren Conrad's takedown of former best friend Heidi Montag, who — along with her then-boyfriend Spencer Pratt — was accused of spreading rumors about a sex tape between Lauren and Jason Wahler. But looking back, the mic-drop line overshadowed just how composed Lauren remained throughout their emotional conversation as she pressed Heidi to admit Spencer was behind the rumors, and when that failed, to recognize how much pain they caused her. Whether or not she was coached by a producer, Lauren's poise in that moment reflected the manicured nature of MTV's The Hills, which built upon Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County's soapy reputation with its manufactured storylines and relationships.

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen this week’s episode of “And Just Like That…” proceed with caution.
And we couldn’t help but wonder, did Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) just alienate half the “Sex and the City” fanbase?
In the latest instalment of the Max spin-off series, “And Just Like That…” Carrie is deep into her love bubble with her ex-fiancé, Aidan Shaw (John Corbett). The two wake up in each other’s arms, twisted in sheets, bargaining over who has to close the blinds to keep that pesky sunshine from hitting them. It’s a nauseating scene that begs the question — does nobody have a job anymore? Doesn’t Aidan have three sons? Is Carrie just going to spend the rest of her life living off the funds of her late husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth)?
And speaking of Mr. Big, the man is certainly rolling over in his Armani suit,...

Both of Deschanel's children are from her second marriage to film producer Jacob Pechenik; they married in 2015 and separated in 2019. But Deschanel, who's been in a relationship with "Property Brothers" star Jonathan Scott since 2019, did open up about her blended family in a June Instagram post for Father's Day. She wrote, "As a mom in a co-parenting family I am just so grateful for the dads in mine and my kids' lives! From Daddy(Jacob), to Bonus Daddy (big-dad jonathan), Papa(Caleb) and Grandpa Jim. We are blessed with amazing father figures."
Scott also opened up about life with Elsie and Charlie in a May interview with "Entertainment Tonight." "The kids' dad is a great dad.

Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is questioning why reality TV hasn’t unionized just a week into the WGA and SAG-AFTRA double strike, and as networks have pivoted to reality TV to support their fall schedules.
“Hollywood is on strike, entertainers are fighting for residuals and no one will promote anything. Why isn’t reality TV on strike?” asked Frankel, who starred in eight seasons of the Bravo reality franchise before exiting in 2019. “During the last writers strike, we were providing all the entertainment, and that’s really when the gold rush of reality TV started.”
In a video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday (below), the Big Shot With Bethenny producer revealed that she was only paid $7,250 for her “first season of reality TV,” before calling for reality stars to stop filming “until their free content is [taken] down.” Frankel says networks and streamers shouldn’t...

Who can forget the time Lauren Conrad sprinted out of his studio after André started lapping up his own vomit? Or rapper T.I. bolting when confronted by a plethora of full-frontal male nudity?
“I realized the hard way that the more violent a prank is doesn’t mean it’s necessarily better,” André told Rolling Stone.

Though MTV has had a ton of popular shows over the years, Laguna Beach is amongst its most iconic. Premiering in 2004, the show followed eight teenagers as they navigated their life in the coastal city of Orange County. The show made household names out of Lauren Conrad and Kristen Cavallari and sparked its popular spinoff, The Hills. But Laguna Beach was almost dead in the water before it even began, thanks to Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s infamous Super Bowl performance.

Appearing on Cavallari’s podcast with co-star and ex-boyfriend Stephen Colletti, Back to the Beach, the trio talked about the love triangle that was at the center of the series, and just the network played up this faux dispute. “I think it was done when they started filming,” Conrad said of their spat. “This is what I remember: I remember everything happened and then was it… formal? It was like, the week before they started filming, we got into it and then made up. And it was fine. And they came… I don’t think we were best friends, but we were fine.” Cavallari agreed. “My take on it is, you and I never really had any beef,” she said. “Obviously there was a little...

Stephen Colletti is clearing the air on the man he was painted out to be during his days on Laguna Beach. Stephen and Kristin Cavallari have continued their mission to break down the secrets behind the iconic MTV series—and during the Aug. 16 episode of Dear Media's Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen podcast, the 36-year-old shared that he wasn't too pleased to be made out like a cheater with the show's editing. While fans may remember being on the edge of their seats over the show's love triangle that was Stephen, Kristin and Lauren Conrad, the One Tree Hill actor explained that certain scenes were edited out of context to make it seem like he had cheated on the Uncommon James founder...

She spent the last year of her high school career becoming a reality star before people knew just how big reality stars would be.

When Audrina Patridge headed for The Hills in 2006, she didn't know what to expect. And when she descended from the hit MTV reality show—also starring Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and, later, Kristin Cavallari—after six dramatic seasons, she didn't know what to do. Feeling "lost," the 37-year-old recalled July 22 on E! News' Daily Pop, "I didn't really know what I wanted or who I was, so I moved to the beach. What happens in Cabo . . . continues over a decade later? Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti's new "Laguna Beach" rewatch podcast, "Back to the Beach," has arrived, and the former on-and-off couple apparently have recently revisited the past in more ways than one.
In "Back to the Beach," Colletti and Cavallari are rewatching every episode of "Laguna Beach," which aired from 2004 to 2006 on MTV and was followed up by spinoff "The Hills." At the time of the reality TV series, Colletti and Cavallari were teenagers in a love triangle with their fellow high school classmate, Lauren Conrad. In fact, Conrad and Cavallari's feud - mostly propelled by both of their links to Colletti - was much of the plot focus during the series.

Let’s go back, back to the beginning.
During the first episode of the “Laguna Beach” rewatch podcast “Back to the Beach,” hosts Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti divulged just how much money they were making for the first 11-episode season.

“I don’t even think it was that much. I think it was 2,000,” Colletti responded. “Lauren [Conrad] and I renegotiated for Season 2. It was going to be our last season! We were like, ‘We’re out of here!'”
“Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” aired on MTV for three seasons from 2004 to 2006, following the lives of teenagers growing up in the California town. Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla initially crossed paths in 2005 when both were enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Irvine, California. Conrad, then on MTV’s The Hills, filmed some scenes for the show on campus. “We bonded over a shared love of fashion and, later, traveling and empowering women,” Skvarla says. “We wanted to find a unique and meaningful way to give back.”
After visiting several women-oriented nonprofits in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, the two Orange County natives saw an opportunity “to create something where there was no limit geographically to the number of women we helped,” says Skvarla, explaining how they reconnected to a passion for sourcing special, handcrafted goods at global markets.
Their shared mission translated into the nonprofit, online fair-trade shop The Little Market, founded in 2013 to economically and socially support women artisans and their families in underserved communities worldwide.

The rest will never be written.
According to Deadline, MTV has officially canceled The Hills: New Beginnings after two low-rated seasons.
The news should come as no surprise when you consider that the show has never been a big ratings performer for the young-skewing cabler.
A reboot of the popular reality series The Hills (2006-10), New Beginnings featured a mix of old and new cast members, but it had one big issue throughout its run:
It was boring.
Reality TV is typically filled with drama, but the drama was watered down.
Had MTV went in a drastically new direction by bringing no one from the original back, the show might have had legs to sustain storylines.
The series was in jeopardy after its first season.
MTV gave it a vote of confidence in the form of a speedy second-season pickup, but filming was delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
