Jannik Sinner recently won his first Atp 1000 trophy at the Canadian Open, which added confidence ahead of the US Open .
The Italian has played really well on hard courts for a long time, but he's never quite gotten the breakthrough until recently. He made his way to the Canadian Open final in Toronto and smashed Alex de Minaur in the final .
It was a huge win for Sinner, an important win which will give him confidence ahead of the US Open. He narrowly missed out on the final last year , and going all the way will certainly be the goal, but there was some doubt before arriving in the United States.
I feel like for sure the confidence is going to be a little bit higher, but also my expectations are going to be higher. When I came here (to Toronto), I knew that I can play very, very good.

Holger Rune angered the Madrid crowd recently when he erased the mark of a shot that his opponent contested.
It was a match between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Holger Rune at the recent Madrid Open. Davidovich Fokina disagreed with a call from the hawk eye arguing with the umpire that it was the wrong call, later discussing it with the supervisor, while Rune went to the mark and simply erased it with his foot.
That did not go over well with the crowd who were booing him heavily after that action. Former player Jimmy Connors backed Rune on his podcast recently explaining that he had a similar thing happen to him at the 1977 US Open.
It was at the US Open. It was a semifinal against Corrado Barazzutti. Guess [Holger] Rune kind of felt the same way as I did, got a little tired of hearing all the bitching and moaning about it.

Holger Rune should be considered one of the top young tennis talents and is now the game's anti-hero, according to 22-time doubles major winner Todd Woodbridge.
20-year-old Rune has risen to tennis stardom in the last two years and has broken into the Atp top ten following a fine start to the 2023 season. A fourth-round run at the Australian Open preceded a strong clay-court season for the Dane, who reached the Monte-Carlo Masters final before winning the Munich Open in April.
After impressive performances and improving consistency, Rune has earned plaudits from many tennis figures recently, The Most recent to heap praise on the youngster was Woodbridge who, when speaking to the Australian Open, said Rune should be considered among the new 'Big Three' in Atp tennis alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Former Australian tennis player Todd Woodbridge believes that Rafael Nadal will very likely be absent from this year's Roland Garros.
The Spaniard hasn't played since suffering a hip injury in his second-round loss to Mackenzie McDonald at the Australian Open in January, and last week pulled out of the Madrid Open taking place over the next fortnight.
Speaking to the Australian press, Woodbridge voiced his concern at the 22-time Grand Slam champion's lengthy lay-off, going on to explain why he believes there is a good chance Nadal will not compete in Paris this year.
The Aussie doesn't think that Rafa will want to compete at Roland Garros without any matches under belt, as his extraordinary record at the event will be under real threat.
I am starting to feel we're not going to see him at Roland-Garros, not going to defend his title which would be enormous if that happened.
