He found his interest in football early on. Robert Huth gained his first experiences in the youth club "VfB Fortuna Biesdorf". At "1. FC Union Berlin" he rose to become a promising young talent. He moved to England for the 2000/01 season after receiving a playing contract with the Chelsea FC youth team. After convincing results, he moved to Chelsea's professional team at the age of 17 in the 2001/02 season. He made his debut in the English Premier League on the last day of the season after coming on as a substitute in the game against Aston Villa. He played his first full game during the UEFA Cup against "Viking Stavanger". On August 18, 2004, Huth celebrated his debut for the German national team in the Germany/Austria match in Vienna.
After convincing results, he became a player in the national team during the 2004 Confederation Cup in Germany, in which the DFB team took third place. In 2005, Huth became English champions with Chelsea FC. He developed into a brilliant defender, particularly in the defensive position, while also taking part in excellent attacks. His zonal marking in front of his own goal earned him the nickname "Berlin Wall" in England. Robert Huth was appointed to the DFB national team squad by national coach Jürgen Klinsmann for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. After the German national team won the World Cup on June 30, 2006 with a 5-3 victory. After reaching the semi-finals against Argentina, the team under captain Michael Ballack lost 0-2 goals in extra time against Italy on July 4, 2006.
In the game for third place on July 8th in Stuttgart, the German team won 3-1 against Portugal. The triumph of the 2006 World Cup title went to Italy in the final on July 9th, to which France lost on penalties. In August 2006, Federal President Horst Köhler awarded the German national team the "Silver Laurel Leaf", the highest award that Germany can give to athletes.
