Known for his feminine-like beauty, he started a trend for Asian actors to embrace an almost-effeminate concept through use of makeup, accessories, etc.The trend has nothing to do with sexuality or gender, but with fashion and trends. After his rise in popularity, the concept spread from Korea to all parts of Asia, specifically Southeast Asia.
- Martial Arts: Tae Kwon Do 3rd Degree, Hapkido 1st Degree, Taekkyeon 1st Degree.
- Has won 35 different international awards during his acting career.
- Graduated at Seoul Arts University (Acting major).
- I don't want to be a star who shines and then disappears. I want to be a true actor who marks his place among the crowd.
- I've always been the kind who doesn't enjoy my personal life that much. I can't enjoy it even if I'm given more time. Because I have a strong sense of responsibility or duty towards work, I end up being so absorbed with work, such that I don't know how to have fun once I have time. I don't know how to invest time for myself.
- In this life, I can't think of any other choices but this one....for Lee Joon Gi in this life, acting is the only dream and goal I have....Thinking "what would I be if not an actor?" The answer would be to not exist.
- After my performance in The King and the Clown, I found myself at the forefront of this 'pretty boy' trend, whether or not that was my intention. Suddenly, people were interested in me, and there was all this praise and criticism all at the same time. Everything was just so overwhelming. I felt like I was floating on air.
- I was always such a greedy person; I had a greed of having to show a variety of things. Because I like physical action, I mostly played characters that need to possess complex emotions even when there are many action scenes...I think of action as one of my specialties and strengths. But for how long will I be able to use my body like that? A time will come when I won't be able to do so even if I wanted to. I want to work hard and do more action when I'm still able use my body well.
