It isn’t every day that you hear that even the cast and crew of a massively popular series are unaware of the future of the series. They usually have a good idea about the direction in which the show is headed. However, that was exactly what happened with the popular post-apocalyptic drama series, The Walking Dead as the star of the show, Jeffrey Dean Morgan once revealed in an interview.

The Walking Dead is over, but like the zombies at the heart (er, brains?) of the tale, the franchise lives on.
Clocking in at 11 seasons and 177 episodes all told, the AMC horror drama shuffled off into the afterlife, only to birth a bevy of spinoff shows, most of which center on beloved characters from the original series like the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reunion series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Beyond those continuing adventures, there are also the spinoffs without too many overt ties to the “flagship” Walking Dead, including the very first of these spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead (also now in the grave, joined there by the two-seasons-and-out The Walking Dead: World Beyond and single season anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead).
Why the veritable Wikipedia entry? Because it highlights this central feature across all of the various Walking Deads: there are...

Exclusive: Anthony E. Zuiker, the creator of the hugely successful CSI TV franchise, has signed with boutique management firm Literate.
This marks a rare new addition to Zuiker’s close-knit representation team, nicknamed affectionately by the writer-producer “Team Zuiker,” who has been shaping his career and brand for more than two decades.
It follows the January death of Zuiker’s beloved manager of over 25 years, Margaret Riley, most recently of Lighthouse Entertainment, who passed away from cancer at the age of 58.
In a moving tribute for Deadline at the time, Zuiker recalled how Riley signed Zuiker on his 30th birthday, 8/17/1998, when he was still trying to break into Hollywood. Helping him land early writing gigs that led to CSI, Riley also took Zuiker to the talent agencies, with him landing at CAA with Joe Cohen, and introduced him to entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn. Nicolas Cage may reprise his role from Into the Spider-Verse in the upcoming Spider-Man Noir series. Hollywood insider publication The Ankler reports that the actor is “in serious talks to take on the lead role” in the untitled show, which Amazon ordered from Sony Pictures Television last year.
Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir in the 2018 animated film Into the Spider-Verse (although his character did not appear in the 2023 sequel Across the Spider-Verse). Taking inspiration from the Spider-Man who appears in the Marvel Noir comics, Cage’s character is a hardboiled Peter Parker from an alternate (and monochromatic) universe, with the mannerisms of a 30s-era Hollywood detective.
Just under one year ago, news broke that Sony was partnering with Prime Video for a live-action Spider-Man Noir series set in New York City circa 1930s. As originally reported by Variety, the untitled project features an “older, grizzled superhero,” is set in an alternate universe,...

It’s hard to make your mark in an ever-evolving film industry. Hollywood has recently witnessed a string of massive flops, and quite a good portion of them were female-led movies. The most recent examples are The Marvels and Sony’s latest release, Madame Web. Both have received unimpressive reviews and poor box office receipts.
While superhero fatigue is partly to blame, these films have also been criticized way more than other flops, the most common complaint being the “wokeness” that they allegedly possess. After the massive failure of Madame Web, there has been a creative overhaul at their headquarters, which has completely changed their initial plans.

Exclusive: The writers room for the new MGM+/Prime Video series Silk: Spider Society is tentatively slated to reconvene in mid to late January, sources tell Deadline.
It would be one of the last series whose writers rooms were up and running when the WGA strike started May 2 to reopen.
The delay prompted Wgaw to notify Amazon Studios last month “that their failure to recommence a number of writing rooms after the strike is a violation of the Strike Termination Agreement (Sta) between the WGA and AMPTP and Article 7 of the Mba,” the guild told Deadline in a statement, adding that “studios are obligated to return writers to work ‘upon termination of the strike,” which happened Sept. 27, and that “the Guild will bring legal action against Amazon and any other studio that violates the Sta to recover compensation, interest on late payments, and benefit contributions due as a result of the delay.

The Spider-Man Noir live-action series in the works at Amazon has brought on Steve Lightfoot as co-showrunner, Variety has learned exclusively.
The show was first reported to be in the works at Amazon back in February. Oren Uziel is the writer on the project and will serve alongside Lightfoot as co-showrunner and executive producer.
As previously reported, the untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. An individual with knowledge of the project says that the show will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker.
This is not Lightfoot’s first foray into the Marvel world. He previously developed and served as showrunner on “The Punisher” Netflix series starring Jon Bernthal, which ran for two seasons before Disney decided to pull back all Marvel content onto their own streaming platforms. The Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (you can read our review Here) is set to continue with a second season that will focus on Daryl’s good friend Carol, played by Melissa McBride – and because of that, the second season has the ridiculous (and ridiculously long) title of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. Thanks to a SAG interim agreement, the show was able to make its way through production while the actors strike was still going on… and now that the strike is over, Deadline has revealed that McBride is joined in the cast of the show by Manish Dayal.
Dayal just wrapped up a six season run on the Fox TV series The Resident. Some of his other credits include The Hundred-Foot Journey, Viceroy House, Holidate, Halt and Catch Fire, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The season finale of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” aired on AMC last night, and it brought along with it the tease that main show character Carol (Melissa McBride) will be joining Norman Reedus in the second season of the spinoff series. In fact, next year’s Season 2 of “Daryl Dixon” has officially been dubbed “The Walking Dead: The Book of Carol.”
As you may recall, the “Daryl Dixon” spinoff had originally been announced as a Daryl/Carol spinoff series, so it’s essentially returning to those original plans in its second season.
“The Book of Carol” opens up on AMC in 2024. Watch the teaser trailer below.
“The Daryl Dixon spinoff series tracks Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.

Melissa McBride is returning to the world of The Walking Dead.
The actress has signed on as a series regular for season two of the franchise’s latest spinoff series, Daryl Dixon, AMC announced Thursday at New York Comic-Con.
McBride, who played the role of Carol Peletier in all 11 seasons of the flagship series, was originally poised to star opposite Norman Reedus’ Daryl in the spinoff but dropped out in April 2022 after the drama moved its filming location to Europe.

The Walking Dead reached the end of its eleven season run last year, and long before the show ended we knew the character Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) was going to be getting a spin-off. But when the Daryl spin-off was first announced, it was said to focus on the two-person team of Daryl and his friend Carol (Melissa McBride). That plan changed when it was decided that the show was going to take place in Europe, and McBride didn’t want to relocate for an extended period of time. So we’ve gotten the solo spin-off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon… but showrunner David Zabel still has story in mind for the Carol character.

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” is off to the races in the ratings.
Per AMC, the premiere of the spinoff series centered on Norman Reedus’ fan favorite character is officially the biggest premiere in the history of streamer AMC+ with three weeks of streaming data available. That puts its ahead of fellow “Walking Dead” spinoff “The Walking Dead: Dead City” starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan, which claimed the biggest premiere honor back in June. Both shows have already been renewed for second seasons.
Furthermore, “Daryl Dixon” is now on pace to become the most-viewed season of any show in the history of AMC+.
In the linear ratings, the fourth episode of “Daryl Dixon” this past Sunday hit new series highs in total viewership and the adults 25-54 demographic. In the Nielsen Live+3 ratings, the show hit 1.1 million viewers with its fourth episode. That includes 392,000 viewers in the demo.

The Walking Dead reached the end of its eleven season run last year, and the first season of the follow-up spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City ran through its six episodes earlier this year. The next follow-up spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is set to reach AMC and AMC+ at 9pm on Sunday, September 10th – and star Norman Reedus told Entertainment Weekly that are several elements to the show that will make it stand apart from The Walking Dead. He said, “The photography’s different, the acting style of the people I’m acting with are different, the writing is different.” He even went on to say that the zombies are different: “The walkers that we have on this show, they’re all dancers. They’re not extras, they’re dancers — so they bend and move in weird ways. It’s a combination of a horror film mixed with Cirque du Soleil.

Exclusive: The Walking Dead spinoffs Daryl Dixon and The Ones Who Live and Interview with a Vampire are set to resume production after AMC Networks struck agreements with SAG-AFTRA.
The three shows are part of interim agreements with the Breaking Bad broadcaster that will allow filming to resume on the three high-profile series.
It’s understood that these agreements are specific to these three shows, rather than a blanket agreement between the company and the guild. AMC Networks, which produces the shows via AMC Studios, confirmed the waivers to Deadline, but didn’t comment further. AMC Networks is a member of the AMPTP but is not among the studios involved in the negotiations.

We are fast approaching the premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC.
The latest chapter of Daryl's story begins Sunday, September 10 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on AMC and AMC+.
The previous footage has showcased Norman Reedus' weatherbeaten character as he navigates a new sandbox.
Now, AMC has dropped the key art for the forthcoming spinoff, and it's as picturesque as you'd expect from a show set in France.
Reedus is front and center in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with the Eiffel Tower in the background for good measure.
Truthfully, the color tone reminds me of Fear the Walking Dead Season 7, which put radiation at the center of the storytelling.
Hopefully, Twd: Daryl Dixon is a cut above that.

AMC has been teasing us with snippets of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon for months.
On Friday, fans of the franchise got their biggest glimpse yet of the Paris-set spinoff during San Diego Comic-Con.
Because the cast and crew were unable to make the event due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the cable network gave fans the official trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1.
While there have been many complaints about how Daryl (Norman Reedus) managed to make it to France after the conclusion of The Walking Dead Season 11, the trailer does deliver plenty of things the franchise has never seen.
The Walking Dead: Dead City has been great because it took us to a new location with a scaled-back cast.
With Daryl Dixon, it seems we're getting a show bigger in scope than anyone could have imagined.
