The Wiggles have released a new Edm album — yes, you read that right — called The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence.
Featuring 14 Wiggles classics remixed as Edm songs, The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence is helmed by Australian DJ and Justice Crew member Lenny Pearce — who is also the twin brother of purple Wiggle John Pearce. The remixes were also provided by DJ Dorothy, the beloved dinosaur, who appears on the album’s cover.
The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence features bumping, techno remixes of Wiggles favorites “Fruit Salad,” “Bouncing Balls,” “Hot Potato,” and more. There’s also a fascinating rework of “Baby Shark,” which, well, you’ll just have to hear it for yourself.
Marking the debut of The Wiggles Sound System, a press release describes the album as “an electrifying fusion of nostalgia and party-starting techno beats,” and “a pulsating musical journey that’s part wild dancefloor party, part toddler tantrum tamer.

After debuting part of the track live at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, Dua Lipa has officially released her new single, “Training Season,” in full. Stream it below.
Elle Woods (one of our great philosophers) once said, “Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy,” but this high-energy single was created from a place of frustration for Dua Lipa. In a statement, she recalled the day the concept for the song appeared to her, sharing, “I had been on a string of bad dates, and the last one was the final straw.” She brought that sentiment into the studio and declared training season officially over.
The disco-pop sound on “Training Season” feels in line with Lipa’s previous single, “Houdini,” and with her Grammy-winning album, Future Nostalgia, while the focused, self-assured lyrics recall her breakthrough hit, “New Rules.” “Need someone to hold me close, deeper than I’ve...

By now, fans of Dua Lipa know that her new album is psychedelia-inspired with contributions from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the pop star dug deeper into the influences of her upcoming third studio LP, including the UK acts Primal Scream and Massive Attack.
In the profile, Rs staff writer Brittany Spanos reports that Lipa described the album as a “psychedelic-pop-infused tribute to UK rave culture” drawing heavy inspiration from Primal Scream and Massive Attack. Lipa named Primal Scream’s 1991 breakout album, Screamadelica, as a particular influence.
Other inspirations for the album include Britpop legends like Oasis and Blur, as well as ’90s rock and electronic acts like Moby and Gorillaz.
“This record feels a bit more raw,” Lipa explained in the interview. “I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen, whether it’s good or bad.

If the biggest, hookiest songs of 2023 are united by anything, it’s the insurgents who made them. For one, English singer PinkPantheress made good on her underground fandom with a remix of “Boy’s a Liar,” featuring raspy-voiced female rapper of the moment Ice Spice, whose eye-rolling attitude ingeniously cuts against her own unguardedly emotional pop minimalism.
Others similarly subverted expectations of what makes a hit. Dua Lipa has opened up about working with her dream collaborator Kevin Parker on her new single, “Houdini,” and several other “really fun songs” for her upcoming psychedelia-inspired album in a new interview with triple j. No more hocus pocus: Dua Lipa’s psychedelia-inspired track “Houdini” is out now, with production from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle. Stream it below.
In a statement, Dua Lipa said “Houdini” “embodies that 4 a.m. feeling when the night is coming to a close and you’re a bit sweaty, but you just don’t want the party to end.”

Last month, Dua Lipa posted a teaser for her new single, “Houdini,” with a close-up of a gold key lodged between her teeth, accompanied by the caption “catch me or i go.” Internet sleuths were quick to point out that fellow Brit Kate Bush’s 1982 album The Dreaming features both a song of the same name and a cover photo of the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee with a similar key in her mouth.
But that’s where the similarities will likely end. Lipa’s forthcoming third studio album is reportedly a move in a more ’70s-style psychedelic direction, and while “Houdini” is a bass-driven post-disco romp in the vein of past hits like “Physical,” it’s infused with subtle touches of neo-psychedelia courtesy of co-producer Kevin Parker, a.k.a. Tame Impala.

Dua Lipa has kicked off the rollout for her next album. The pop star has announced her new single, “Houdini,” out on November 9th via Warner. Pre-orders are ongoing.
Leading up to the announcement, Lipa left a trail of breadcrumbs on social media for fans to piece together. In a snippet posted on October 31st, the following numbers flash onscreen: 4 8 9 9 14 15 21. Matching the numbers with the corresponding letters of the English alphabet yields the result “dhiinou,” which can, in turn, be rearranged to read the name Houdini.
As it turns out, October 31st also marks the anniversary of the day that Harry Houdini died in 1926. Continuing the reference, Lipa also puts a golden key hanging on a necklace in her mouth. One of Houdini’s escape methods was to receive the handcuff key in his mouth from his wife, who passed it along as they kissed.

Marking Thundercat’s first release since 2020’s It Is What It Is, “No More Lies” pairs Stephen Bruner’s classic slip-n-slide bass with Kevin Parker’s lush instrumentation as the two sing about the end of a relationship. “It’s not your fault, I’m just kind of ass,” Thundercat croons, before Tame Impala adds, “I’ll just be on my own.”

Tame Impala have gone prog rock with their new song, “Wings of Time,” off the soundtrack for the upcoming fantasy movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Stream it below.
“Wings of Time” features galloping percussion and triumphant lyrics from Kevin Parker, who sings, “We are number one/ It is clear to us now/ All that’s said and done/ I knew it all along.”
“Being asked to do a track for the D&d soundtrack seemed like an unmissable opportunity to indulge in my longtime love of fantasy prog rock,” Parker said in a statement. “I recruited my good friend Nicholas Allbrook, who is the person I know appreciates this subject matter the most. We rented a villa in Spain, that kind of felt like a castle, for two nights whilst on tour for Primavera. That location got us in the right frame of mind and it went from there.

Tame Impala are set to return to the stage on Friday night, playing the first of two shows in Mexico City. They’ll then head to South America for festival appearances in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, and Brasil. Tickets to the band’s upcoming shows are available via Viagogo.

There are two dials at Gorillaz HQ which determine 1) how many guests will be on an album, and 2) how elaborate its broader cartoon lore will be. 2018’s The Now Now, positioned as a solo album by Damon Albarn’s “2-D” alter ego, had minimal guests and only the slightest bit of extra-textual hijinks. On the other hand, 2020’s wildly overstuffed Song Machine project, in which every track was accompanied by at least one guest and a new cartoon detailing the band’s ongoing dystopian adventures, turned both dials to 11. Every track was a single,...

Lil Yachty is rich. The 25-year-old musician posts TikToks featuring exotic Italian furniture, and goes vintage shopping with Drake. By the time he graduated high school, he’d already bought his mom a house. He caused a mild international incident with his viral hit “Poland,” a loosie released late last year in which he croons, with impossible sincerity, about bringing illegal pharmaceuticals into Poland. One couldn’t imagine a more charmed Gen Z existence. And yet, on “:(failure(:,” an early interlude from his left-turn of a new album,...

Lil Yachty then cryptically added, “Chapter 2,” before thanking fans “for the patience.”

Some high school student filmmakers will have their work shown nationwide, thanks to The Roku Channel.
Last spring, the company partnered with youth organization Fresh Films for the Roku Change Makers Program, which trained more than 250 high schoolers from 23 cities nationwide in filmmaking, with career mentorship from Roku employees. Under the leadership of Roku’s Mitch Rogers and Leslie Lai, participants had the opportunity to create short films featuring a social subject close to their hearts and how progress is being made in their communities and now, select projects will premiere as Roku Originals on the company’s streaming channel.
“Watching our inaugural class of Roku Change Makers grow into confident storytellers has been a profound experience. We’re proud to have cultivated an environment that empowered a diverse group of young people from across the country to courageously share their stories,” Roku head of alternative originals Brian Tannenbaum said in a statement.

“Lonerism is 10 years old today. Difficult to sum up what the album means to me at this point,” Parker wrote. “It was a pretty special time for me making the music. In a way it’s when I truly discovered myself as an artist.

Kevin Parker is a prog-rock wiz with a heart of pop gold, spooling out resplendent psychedelic symphonies in Tame Impala, a studio project that’s blossomed into a band big enough to headline Coachella. With his long hair and spacey jams, he can recall a bygone era of art-rock conjurer, those Seventies studio druids holed up in sound caves, subsisting on psilocybin tea and holding philosophical discourses with their beard fleas. But Parker’s a modern guy, and his music works because he balances pie-eyed grandeur with sugary sleekness; it...

The words amateur sports are time travelers. They come from a time long ago, when Americans had a more halcyon ideal of sports that perhaps wasn’t colored by, well, all this color on their courts and fields. The mindset it reinforces seeks to maintain a false purity, decelerating progress as it limits the very free market that the Ncaa and the rest of the college sports industry so readily exploits to the tune of $14 billion last year, all made off the sweat of the young, unpaid talent who was put on display.

It’s hard to get a bead on exactly what Minneapolis-based Jeremy Nutzman is up to with Neon Brown, his second LP as Velvet Negroni, which is part of why it’s good. You could almost call its dreamy trap-soul “new age” if that didn’t suggest a yin-yoga chill at odds with couplets like “Don’t fight your boy on the payphone/la la, I burst to flames like it’s Waco” and “Ultra fusion handsome dish/Feed them LSD like I’m Charlie Manson, bitch.” But Nutzman’s...

Mark Ronson branded himself a nostalgia alchemist with Amy Winehouse, updating mid-century R&b with a rare-groove-fanatic’s ear for detail. Where super-producers like Diplo might make serviceable magic with anyone, Ronson’s classicism generally requires the wearer to animate it. Winehouse was an ideal match. To a lesser extent, so was Bruno Mars, another classicist whose RIAA Diamond-selling Prince homage “Uptown Funk” proved how lucrative Ronson’s science could be.

The pianos and strings that open Tame Impala’s wonderful new song evoke classic house music at its most radiant and redemptive. But as is almost always the case with Australian psych-pop song sculptor Kevin Parker, “Patience” is immediately revealed to be more complicated than that first heraldic rush of music might imply. The drums drift, and the melody that emerges is as smeared as it is sunny, as if you’re hearing the song coming from two tents away at a festival, or from an amazing party just over the horizon.
