John Boyega has signed with UTA.
The Hollywood Reporter can confirm that alongside signing the British star in all areas, the talent agency has also signed Boyega’s production company UpperRoom Productions.
The deal marks Boyega’s return to Hollywood agencies after four years away, having left WME in 2019. Since then, he’s been solely repped by Femi Oguns at the U.K.’s Identity Agency Group.
Boyega — who found global fame thanks to the Star Wars trilogy sequel — has been on something of a roll recently. He landed a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his turn in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology in 2021, while last year he earned critical praise for his lead performance in Breaking — which he also exec produced — and also starred in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s historical epic The Woman King.

(The following piece isn’t so much a review as a gathering of thoughts and observations about that new movie everyone is talking about and can’t seem to stop talking about. As such, it assumes that the reader is familiar with the film and already knows what it is to which the writer-director is building and is no respecter of spoilers in talking about what happens in and around the controversial ending. So, if you haven’t seen the movie yet and would like to keep certain surprises intact, best to stop reading now and come back to this one later.)

Gotti, The Happytime Murders, Holmes & Watson and Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary Death of a Nation tied for the most nominations for the Razzie Awards, the annual generally mean-spirited anti-Oscar list of the year’s worst movies.

Brie Larson is completing talks to join Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Fox in the Warner Bros. real-life drama “Just Mercy,” a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.

Summer 2018 is officially here tomorrow but it is already hot for NBC once again with America’s Got Talent (2.1/9) back to dominate primetime for the Comcast-owned network.
Yes, even with the early hours for most matches, the World Cup is scoring solidly for Fox but when you look at ratings like what NBC got on Tuesday, it was a Tuesday blowout.
Even with Agt dipping a tenth from its fast affiliates of June 12 (which went up a tenth in the final numbers), NBC’s overall rating of 1.9/9 and 9.88 million viewers beat encore heavy ABC and CBS and a Beat Shazam (0.7/3) airing Fox combined. A fun state to cite, and one NBC love to repeat no doubt, it doesn’t hurt that World of Dance (1.4/6) was the same as its final numbers of last week too.
Otherwise, the Jamie Fox fronted Shazam was the same as its June 12 fast affiliates...
