Exclusive: Kimberly A. Harrison, who was previously showrunner of Fox’s Stephen Dorff-fronted drama Deputy, has joined Terrence Howard’s Delta Blues as showrunner.
Harrison, who was a co-producer on Criminal Minds and co-exec producer on All Rise, will oversee the Mississippi blues drama for Ozark producer Zero Gravity Management.
The move also reunites her with Evan Ross, who she worked with as a co-exec producer on Fox’s Star and who stars alongside Howard.
The series is a one-hour drama based on true events that chronicles the story of W.C. Handy, sometimes referred to as the Father of the Blues. Empire star Howard, who reversed his decision to retire to star in the project, will also make his directorial debut on the project.
It is based on a script from Ellen Perry, Zachery Anderson, Edwin B. Shackeroff and Trudy Davies.

The 55th San Francisco International Film Festival (site), opening tomorrow and running through May 3, "will seem comfortingly the same" to many in the Bay Area, writes G Allen Johnson in the Chronicle:
[A] lavish opening-night film and party, a rocking closing-night film and, in the two weeks between, 172 more films from 45 countries and tributes to distinguished celebrities... But behind the scenes, it's been the most challenging year in the festival's history. Two executive directors of the San Francisco Film Society have died — Graham Leggat, who lost a battle to cancer in August at 51; and his replacement, independent film maestro Bingham Ray, who had two strokes and died at 57 while attending the Sundance Film Festival in January. He had been on the job only 10 weeks.
"It sounds like a line, but it's actually true that for me personally it was a relief that I had something I could throw myself into that...

Weekend (18)
(Andrew Haigh, 2011, UK) Tom Cullen, Chris New. 97 mins
You could easily label this a gay Before Sunrise or suchlike, with its 48-hour, boy-meets-boy premise, but it deserves to be judged on its own merits. There's a beautiful naturalism to the way these two Londoners progress from random one-night stand to something deeper, through sex, drugs and revealing conversation. Despite the narrow focus, it speaks volumes about love, art and gay identity.
Tower Heist (12A)
(Brett Ratner, 2011, Us) Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda. 104 mins
With Murphy's coaching, an all-star cast storms the high-rise fortress of Ponzi tyrant Alda in what could have been a great comedy for our times, but ends up just a mildly enjoyable one.
In Time (12A)
(Andrew Niccol, 2011, Us) Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy. 109 mins
Stylish, if logic-stretching, adventure set in a future where time is money and nobody looks older than 25.

"Not going is a kick to you and to football fans everywhere!" Maybe it should be British Trailer Sunday, as we've got an official UK trailer for a film titled Will coming straight from England. It stars youngster Perry Eggleton as Will, Liverpool Fc's "biggest fan", whose estranged father shows up with tickets to the 2005 Champions League Final but through events unseen, he must run off on a journey of his own to make it to the game. The cast includes a few other names, like Bob Hoskins and Damian Lewis, who you might recognize from The Escapist or Your Highness. This looks typically inspirational, but actually entertaining. Watch the official UK trailer for Ellen Perry's family drama Will, embedded from YouTube: 11-year-old Will Brennan is Liverpool Fc's biggest fan. At a boys' school in England, Will's knowledge and love of The Beautiful Game even outshines his football-obsessed mates.

2010 was a strong year for British film-making, as the strength of UK contenders at this week’s Bafta Awards confirmed. Any cursory glance through this year’s Oscar nominations will also confirm the depth of the talent pool that these fair isles can draw from these days- two Best Films, a director, a lead actor, and a best supporting nod for each sex- right now, it’s good to be British. And to walk a horribly over-trodden road, it is clear that Britain really has got talent.
Now back to those two Best Film nominations. Both The King’s Speech and 127 Hours are thoroughly British films: one may have been filmed in London and the other in Utah, but cut them and both would bleed the red, white and blue of the Union Jack. In celebration of the fact, and to draw attention to some of...
