Pop-rock Grammy winner Gwen Stefani has been a coach on “The Voice” seven different times now (though never consecutively), but this is the first season she is on the panel without Blake Shelton, whom she married in 2021. She successfully coached Carter Rubin to a victory in Season 19, and is itching to become a two-time “Voice” champion with her current crop of contenders. Now that the Season 24 blind auditions, battles and knockouts have concluded, can Gwen prevail yet again on NBC’s reality TV show?

Who knew you needed tissues to watch The Voice? Monday’s episode became unexpectedly emotional when one singer, whom you’ll read all about below, left at least two members of the coaching panel in tears with a heart-tugging Whitney Houston cover (and the story of its significance). Gwen Stefani might actually want to keep crying, too, because the last contestants that she added to her team were significantly less impressive than John Legend, Reba McEntire and Niall Horan’s recruits. Read on, and we’ll go over all of Monday’s Blind Auditions…

Eight years after its festival debut, the lo-fi drama Satellite, chocked with obscure Indie band gems and unlikely romantic gestures is now available. Giving bad press to a tiny film with a lot of heart is taxing, but there are enough successes in the sometimes shoddy romantic fable written, directed and edited by Jeff Winner to give a review in good conscience. Unlike his equally under-financed You Are Here (2000), the sophomore feature from the Nyu filmmaking program graduate has a few vaguely recognizable actors and will presumably reach a sizable audience. Satellite made its festival rounds in 2005, winning Special Jury Prize at the Madrid Film Festival after a world premiere at Tribeca. At long last, the indie feature was made available on iTunes, Amazon and VOD earlier this month.

As far as reading goes, 2012 was a strong year for me. I’ve discovered a couple of new authors that I’ll be following for years to come; some of my favorites have weighed in with their strongest work in years; and, most importantly, the duds have been few and far between.
I’m flattered that FEARnet has asked me to present a list of my “Best Reads of 2012.” What follows is not a ranked list. I have trouble ranking things, especially when I’m holding a book I read in January up against a book I read a week or two ago. So, I figure the best approach is to present this list of favorites alphabetically by the author or editor. I think it’s a pretty diverse list, representing something the horror genre proved to me over and over again this year: it’s one of the most...

Already boasting a stable of artists that makes other studios green with envy, Gang of Seven Animation (aka G-7 Animation for those of you in the know) will now have a serious pile of scratch to go along with their impressive roster, thanks to a partnership with the Chinese government.
Tom Tataranowicz, a veteran of the animation industry and the big cheese at G-7, dropped the information yesterday, as well as what some of the plans were to do with this funding. Aside from a film reboot of the 90's television series "Biker Mice From Mars," Gang of Seven Animation is also currently working on CGI animated versions of Frankenstein and the graphic novel Freak Show. Legendary illustrator Bernie Wrightson is currently tagged as production designer on the latter project.
It certainly looks like some serious entertainment will be rolling out from G7 Animation in the near future. Stay tuned!
