When a super cyclone threatens the entire American eastern seaboard, a lone meteorologist and a petroleum engineer must battle the elements to stop the threat.
Super Cyclone is director Liz Adams' second action film for The Asylum, her first being the 5-gold-star, absolutely incredible Air Collision from Spring 2012.
Super Cyclone is out on DVD on Sept 18th, which means we can expect it to air on the SyFy Channel in the USA sometime around then, too.
You Get:
- Asian Lead Actress
- The first cyclone in California
- Snappy, dark one-liners like "Today is the day the world chose to end."
- A multi-ethnic cast of thousands (dozens)!
- Fire that roars like Godzilla!
So there is a 78% chance, statistically, that this will be as good as Air Collision.
Darin Cooper - superstar from Air Collision - is the sad Colonel Chadwick
Dr. Jenna Sparks and the Emgineer run for their lives!

Air Collision, the best action film ever directed by a woman (for The Asylum), has a great ensemble cast and comes from a really innovative company; The Asylum, like Roger Corman’s various studios, is game to give a woman a chance to direct a genre film as well as to cast all ethnicities and both sexes for all kinds of roles. In short, I love The Asylum.
Director Liz Adams had one award-winning short film under her belt (Side Effect) when she went in for an interview at The Asylum. She was originally asked to write the fast-paced script for the then-unnamed action movie, but was offered the chance to submit herself as the director as well. “I threw my hat into the ring to direct and they gave me a shot,” she says. This is not unlike the shot given to filmmakers like Katt Shea by Corman; when...

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by The Asylum.
Directors: Liz Adams.
Cast: Reginal VelJohnson, Jordan Ladd, Gerald Webb, Dave Vescio, and Erin Coker.
The Asylum is a film production company that is known for mockbusters (Transmorphers) or for creating outlandish fantasy films (Zombie Apocalypse). Their latest movie is titled Air Collision and this title was released on DVD March 27th after a brief theatrical run in January. Air Collision is not really a mockbuster, as director Liz Adams experiments with the disaster genre. The film is pure fantasy. The President of the United States' life is in danger, satellites fall from the sky and special agents fly through the air. This is ridiculous! But, maybe that is the magic that drives The Asylum production machine.
The story is unbelievable. The responsibility of aircraft control is turned over to the A.C.A.T. (Auto Control...

While it may be hard to believe that Air Collision is the best Asylum film yet in the entire history of Asylum films, you should really take my word for it.
Sporting a multi-ethnic, and large, ensemble cast involving actors playing scientists, Faa agents, commercial airplane pilots, marines, The President, The First Lady and First Daughter, and people running from falling satellites combined with some pretty good computer graphic effects of said satellites falling and airplanes ramming into buildings, Air Collision certainly *feels* like The Asylum shelled out about ten grand more than they usually do for their monster films.

If Air Force One is going to crash into a passenger jet, at least we have Reginald Vel Johnson on our side to help stop this deadly event before it transpires. Below you’ll find a trailer for Liz Adams’ upcoming thriller “Air Collision”, a direct-to-video endeavor produced by our friends at The Asylum. As an avid fan of “Die Hard” and “Family Matters”, I can’t wait to see our boy Reginald use his razor-sharp problem-solving skills to prevent what could be a disastrous mid-air train wreck. And, no, I’m not talking about the careers of everyone associated with this motion picture. Heh. Before continuing, let’s investigate this synopsis: When a solar storm wipes out the air traffic control system, Air Force One and a passenger jet liner are locked on a collision course in the skies above the midwest. “Air Collision”, which also stars Jordan Ladd,...

The disaster thriller Air Collision will have a nationwide DVD release and arrive on Video-on-demand March 27th. Released by Asylum Home Entertainment, this film is set to deliver a treasure trove of terror in the skies and screams of panic on the ground. This science fiction based experience from “Best Director” Liz Adams (“Side Effect”) is going to mortify those afraid of flying and create a fear of flying in those who are not.
This movie features Reginald VelJohnson, Jordan Ladd, Gerald Webb, Darin Cooper, Darren Anthony Thomas, Kevin Yarbrough and Dave Vescio. While some are trying to avoid a collision course with fate, others are only going to panic the passengers even more. First Officer Aoki (Webb) is trying to save the day while Eli Reyher (Vescio) is trying to ruin it.
Disaster films have excited audiences since the silent film era when Night and Ice (1912) showed the sinking of the Titanic.

It’s lucky 13 for the Boston Underground Film Festival as they celebrate their raucous 13th annual edition this year. Opening with the much buzzed about bloody feature film Hobo With a Shotgun starring Rutger Hauer and directed by Jason Eisener, the fest then barrels on for eight wild nights and days from March 24-31.
While there’s plenty of underground goodness from the U.S.A., this year Buff feels like it’s a much more international affair with several sick features from around the globe. There’s gory horror and quirky black comedy from Japan in the guise of Yoshihiro Nishimura’s Helldriver and Sion Sono’s Cold Fish; the Argentinian freak-out Phase7 by Nicolas Goldbart; David Blyth’s Wound is a psychological thriller from New Zealand; and Mark Hartley’s Machete Maidens Unleashed! is a look at Philippine exploitation cinema from the ’70s.

Pretty/Scary produced short horror film Wretched was selected to play at the Horror Society Women of Horror Film Festival in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday April 25th.
It'll be playing alongside some great female-helmed/oriented films including Pretty Bloody, which extensively features Pretty/Scary. Pretty/Bloody is a documentary about women in horror by Donna Davies and Kimberly McTaggert. Also playing are Liz Adams's Side Effect and Devi Snively's Death In Charge, which is a huge honor, because both those films are way better than Wretched. Also playing are the features Women's Studies, Phobia, The Making of Sculpture, and Wicked Lake.
