Chris Pine has a glorious career in Hollywood as an actor but when he tried to direct a movie, the expected wonders from the Wonder Woman 1984 star, just fell short. Pine directed the 2023 movie Poolman under the banners of Vertical Entertainment starring himself in the lead.

Pine’s Poolman was a critical disaster, met with negative reviews as it failed to impress both the audience and critics. However, the actor/director still believes that he has done something good with the movie refusing to accept the harsh criticism.

Bad reviews? Bah, says Chris Pine, who is ignoring the brickbats thrown at his directorial debut, Poolman.
“It’s forced me to double down on joy,” Pine told host Josh Horowitz on Thursday’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. “As an actor… fundamentally it’s about play, right? What we do is essentially become children for hours a day and make believe.” He added, “There’s an impish quality to it that I don’t ever want to lose.”
Poolman shows Pine as a down-on-his luck pool technician in Los Angeles who discovers a water heist. It was, to be kind, not well-received.
Pine said the bad reviews became “a real come to Jesus moment for me, in terms of seeing how resilient I am.”
Moreover, he wasn’t particularly surprised by them. He did allow that it was hard to reconcile having made a project “with so much joy behind it,...

Chris Pine said this week the development and release of his directorial debut Poolman was “the best thing to ever happen to me” despite the movie’s nearly universal bad reviews.
“It’s forced me to double down on joy,” Pine told host Josh Horowitz on Thursday’s episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “As an actor…fundamentally it’s about play, right? Zack Snyder is now free of the weight of creating an expansive Dceu and had been doing his own thing for the past couple of years. While the director does not seem to be keen to enter the realm of big studio films anytime soon, Snyder fans would love to see him direct a Marvel flick sometime soon. His unique directorial style, understanding of complex action and emotional depth, and ability to draw out great performances from his cast make him a compelling choice for the job.

While that might not be possible anytime soon, Snyder’s past comments about Hulk do make him a good choice to direct a standalone Hulk movie in the future.

The social media embargo just lifted for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and it sounds like filmmaker George Miller has done it again. Given his phenomenal pedigree, we aren't surprised; does the prequel improve on 2015's classic Mad Max: Fury Road, though?
That was always going to be a tall order and, based on what we see below, it doesn't quite match the rights of that gloriously demented ride. In its own right, though, Furiosa's origin story sounds like a worthy addition to the long-running series which kicked off with 1979's Mad Max.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth are receiving widespread praise for their work, with the latter's transformation once again making it clear there's more to him than playing the McU's God of Thunder in the Avengers and Thor franchises.
Tickets for Furiosa reportedly go on sale later today, so another trailer could be imminent. At the very least,...

George Miller’s “Furiosa” is already riding high with first reactions.
The prequel to 2015 film “Mad Max: Fury Road” stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character warrior in an epic saga that spans 15 years for her origin story. Per the official synopsis, a young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth. As they trek across the Wasteland, the gang come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war over dominance, Furiosa faces many trials to find her way home.
While “Furiosa” is set to premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival May 15, early screening first reactions have already gone viral. Both Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth’s respective performances are especially highlighted by critics.

The first reactions are here for George Miller’s latest venture into the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
The embargo broke for social media reactions to Furiosa, the eagerly anticipated prequel to the 2015 stunner Mad Max: Fury Road.
This new entry has Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa (taking over for Charlize Theron) and Chris Hemsworth as a devious warlord in a story that takes place 15 years before the previous film.
Early social reactions (below) can sometimes be a bit different (typically more enthusiastic) than official critic reviews, and surely there are many more to come soon. But based on the first batch Monday evening, Furiosa is a visual stunner with “ferocious, wild and unrelenting” action and a story that “spans decades” and boosts strong performances from the two leads.
The question going into the movie’s Memorial Day weekend launch is whether Miller’s epic can jump start the Hollywood box office after a sluggish few months,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not what it used to be. Although the statements might be hurtful, there have never been so many delays in a Marvel film before as Mahershala Ali’s upcoming MCU film Blade.
It’s not just about the infinite delays though, it feels as if the MCU has dropped its standards after the events of Avengers: Endgame. With people getting hurt by these Marvel updates, fans are not liking the news of Mahershala Ali’s delayed film!

Marvel And Mahershala Ali’s Blade Gets Delayed… Again
Although it could be taken in a good sense that the MCU doesn’t want to release an unfinished product, the fans are also tired now. With the world having learned not to rush things for a release (*cough* Cyberpunk 2077), the MCU probably wants their films to be actually entertaining for the audience.

Zack Snyder May Just Have Left These Clues That Connect His Rebel Moon Franchise to Army of the Dead
Zack Snyder is unarguably one of the biggest masterminds in the entertainment industry, having helmed masterpieces like the Snyder cut of the Justice League. Not only does he beat everyone’s expectations with his out-of-the-world storylines, but he also sometimes leaves behind clues in his universes, which end up connecting them irrespective of how different their storylines may be.

That being said, his Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon sagas were no exception to this fact. In fact, as it turns out through a new set of threads shared by a fan pointing out the similarities between the two universes, Snyder just may have left these clues behind for fans to figure out just how perfectly his AotD and Rm worlds collide and connect. And fans? Well, they’re as baffled as ever, indeed!

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy presented the Batman lore in a grounded and exciting fashion with Christian Bale playing the titular role. The trilogy also presented a rich array of supervillains paired against Batman with Heath Ledger’s Joker and Tom Hardy’s Bane being a talking point for fans.

Each actor brought so much complexity to their roles and while both are drastically different characters, fans often compare them and decide who was more compelling. However, Nolan believes that the two characters do not exist in the same periphery and are not suited for a justified comparison.

When we think of Zack Snyder, our minds might automatically soar to his superhero epics like Man of Steel or Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But did you know there were two other ambitious projects that, despite Snyder’s imaginative touch, ended up being even bigger financial hurdles for Warner Bros?

Steven Spielberg’s 1981 film, Hook, is regarded as the best adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy. The film presented a different take on the children’s fairytale and provided a different experience than the other iterations. A popular rumor suggested that Tom Hanks was the first choice for the role of an older Peter Pan. However, the Philadelphia actor clarified that the story is different.
Robin Williams in Spielberg’s Hook
Hook focuses on the story of a lawyer played by the late Robin Williams, who learns that he is the older Peter Pan. When his kids are kidnapped by Captain Hook as revenge, he goes back to Neverland and joins forces with the Lost Boys and Julia Roberts’ Tinkerbell. Steven Spielberg’s iteration of the fairy tale initially divided the audiences but became a cult classic moving forward.

Zack Snyder’s DC tenure is over, as it seems, but he is yet to move on from the glorious legacy he had forged in the DC universe. The director has somewhat given the studio an identity while creating his own universe as we know it as Snyderverse. Currently, Snyder is working with Netflix, but he would go back to DC in a heartbeat for one movie.

Writer/director Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man (watch it Here) reached theatres just two weeks before the pandemic shut down the world back in March of 2020, and yet the movie still managed to make over $144 million at the global box office, on a budget of just $7 million. So it’s no surprise to hear that a sequel is in the works, it’s only a surprise that it’s taking so long to get into production. During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, The Invisible Man star Elisabeth Moss confirmed that The Invisible Man 2 is in development – and it’s getting closer to becoming a reality!

Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," as it turns out, could have featured one of the biggest movie stars of all time -- Tom Cruise. The actor behind "Mission: Impossible" and "Top Gun," among many, many other hits, was said to be in the running for a role in the film dating back to several years before it even came out, which Snyder later personally confirmed. But now, the filmmaker has added a pretty interesting layer to the whole thing: Cruise would have starred in the movie, but he wanted to take on the role of Rorschach, which isn't exactly what Snyder had in mind.

Zack Snyder built this gritty realistic superhero world for his version of Dceu. Starting with Man of Steel in 2013, the Watchmen director helmed three successful movies while planning several other dropped projects. One common criticism he received for Batman v Superman was that he did not properly flesh out solo superhero stories before going for an ensemble film. However, Snyder clarified why he chose to do the team-up film.

Snyder’s Batman v. Superman was largely panned by the critics. Despite receiving a dream opening at the box office, the film saw a historical drop in its second week. However, the film’s quality is still debated among fans, with Snyder cultists absolutely loving the film.

According to Zack Snyder, one of the most significant Dceu storylines seems to have originated from none other than Oscar-winning star Leonardo DiCaprio. The 49-year-old actor was once considered for the role of Lex Luthor, Superman’s greatest enemy. In an exclusive interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the director disclosed that he had a meeting with the Titanic star to discuss the role in his 2016 superhero flick, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
However, Jesse Eisenberg ultimately won the role. Snyder also recalled that DiCaprio came up with the plan to pit Henry Cavill’s Superman against the Justice League. Sadly, the Dceu timeline came to an end in 2023 (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), capping ten years of superhero films that started with Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013).

Zack Snyder is almost synonymous with DC Universe, with the legacy of his Snyderverse titles, including Man of Steel. But the director might be in talks for his possible association with DC rival Marvel Studios.

Leonardo DiCaprio As Lex Luthor? Zack Snyder Considered Him For ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’
Before asking Jesse Eisenberg to rock a bald head, Zack Snyder considered Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of Lex Luthor.
While chatting recently with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Snyder admitted that he discussed the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with the Oscar-winning star of Killers of the Flower Moon.
“I think, in the end, he was like, ‘eh, I don’t know.’ But he was really smart about the material and really smart about the character,” said Snyder, who added that DiCaprio “had a lot of great ideas, actually, just in the meeting … I think he was the one that mentioned to me this idea about Superman fighting the Justice League at some point.”
Snyder went on to say he also talked to Adam Driver about the role of the cunning billionaire.

Leonardo DiCaprio may keep his distance from the superhero genre today, but he was the studios’ favorite in playing some crucial Cbm characters. At the start of his career, he was offered the role of Robin in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever. During the Dark Knight trilogy, Warner Bros. wanted Christopher Nolan to make The Riddler as the central villain in the third film. They wanted Nolan to bring DiCaprio on board the film for the same.

However, Nolan didn’t concede to the demands of the studio and insisted that he worked with a villain that suited the story. Nolan later worked with DiCaprio in Inception, which remains the actor’s highest-paying gig to date.

Is it too soon to wax nostalgic about "Spider-Man: No Way Home"? The movie that closed out Tom Holland's Spidey trilogy debuted in theaters less than two-and-a-half years ago, but it already feels like a relic of a bygone era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Sony-distributed film continued a pre-existing story we cared about, balanced delightful, fan-friendly cameos and heartbreaking, unpredictable moments, and utilized the star power of three different Spider-Man actors — plus, of course, superstar Zendaya.
Zendaya's Mj was always a high point of the most recent Peter Parker saga, and she got several moments to shine in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." She was also at the center of some of the movie's funniest bits, like when she pelts Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker with hunks of bread to test his Spidey sense. This offbeat character introduction apparently wasn't scripted, as Garfield told Happy Sad Confused...

Burt Reynolds passed away five years ago, yet the legend of the actor, sex symbol, and famous mustache-wearer continues to grow even now. The most recent Reynolds anecdote to circulate comes courtesy of "Boogie Nights," where the "Smokey and the Bandit" star infamously clashed with a then 27-year-old Paul Thomas Anderson.
Stories of Reynolds' displeasure with the filming experience on the 1997 porn-centric comedic drama are widely known by now, and The Washington Post even reported once that he fired his agent after doing the film. In an interview with GQ in 2015, Reynolds admitted that he'd be hesitant to work with Anderson -- who earned a Best Writing Oscar nomination for "Boogie Nights," and 10 additional nominations since -- again. As Reynolds put it, "Personality-wise, we didn't fit." At the time, the actor didn't mince words, saying that during the "Boogie Nights" shoot he found Anderson "young and full of himself" and...

Compared to other superhero franchises, The Dark Knight trilogy features a disproportionate number of villains. A few of the standout antagonists in The Dark Knight Rises are Tom Hardy as Bane, Cillian Murphy as Jonathan Crane, and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent.

A series that has attracted both a lot of love and a lot of hate, Game of Thrones is – whether you like it or not – a pillar of modern television. HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. But, as you will probably know, by the time the series actually ended, a lot of hate had accumulated, and the creators’ decision for the series finale made a lot of fans angry, many still consider the ending of Game of Thrones to be one of the worst endings in the history of television.
Recently, though, Weiss and Benioff sat down with Josh Horowitz for an interview as part of his Happy, Sad, Confused series, accompanied by Alexander Woo. The three of them are the creators of the currently popular 3 Body Problem series,...

When it comes to films and TV shows, no matter how exceptionally well they started, no matter how amazingly well they continued, if it doesn’t have an equally exceptional, or at least satisfactory conclusion, then it all comes crashing down. Game of Thrones being the perfect example.
This HBO series was such a groundbreaking and revolutionary piece of television entertainment that it completely changed what the silver screen stood for. But alas, due to a horrible last season, people remember it with more disappointment than reverence.

Naturally, it came as a shock to the audience as to how the co-creators of the show, David Benioff and D.B Weiss, could’ve missed the mark so badly, but it wasn’t a shock to them. In fact, they expected some amount of backlash from the fandom, but not to this extent.
