The Rookie: Feds officially reported for duty — or whatever it is FBI agents do — this Tuesday night on ABC. Will you keep watching the offshoot of The Rookie?
The Rookie: Feds stars Claws‘ Niecy Nash-Betts as the charmingly (?) headstrong Simone Clark, who was introduced in a springtime two-parter of The Rookie. As a Critics Choice Association member, I'm thrilled to share information on the first Critics Choice Super Awards presentation!
At TV Fanatic, we embrace sophistication and fun, so when awards season comes along, it can be alarming to realize that so much of what we cover (and watch) isn't considered award-worthy.
Heck, we've even written an article about it!
But those of you who love genre television and films will no longer go unrepresented. The Critics Choice Super Awards will air on The CW (of course!) on Sunday, January 10.
And while there isn't a ceremony that will have all of the critics and nominees in one location, that's not stopping us from offering one heck of a great night with all of your favorites!

The coronavirus pandemic has had a massive effect on the entertainment industry, and going forwards it will be some time, if ever, before things return to normal. A number of factors all coming together at precisely the wrong time allowed for the virus to run rampant, but a far more simple explanation has been put forward now. That being that it was all the fault of the Legends of Tomorrow.
During a virtual panel for Wizard World, the subject of the stranger-than-fiction year we’ve been having was brought up, where Courtney Ford (Nora) queried who was responsible, to which Tala Ashe (Zari) had an inevitable response:
“You could blame the Legends for the whole thing. That the Legends did it.”
Ford went on to ask which of them would be to blame for it, with most cast members agreeing it would have been Gary, the enthusiastic and well-meaning but comically incompetent former Time Agent,...

Good news, Arrowverse fans! Legends of Tomorrow only just wrapped up its fifth season last week, but it’s already available on Netflix. Thanks to a revised deal between Warner Bros. Television and the streaming giant, new seasons of The CW’s DC TV universe land on Netflix just days after they conclude on TV. Not including Batwoman, that is, which is on HBO Max instead. The Flash and Supergirl, though, had their latest seasons arrive on the service in May. Legends was the last to end earlier this June so now it’s following suit.
Legends season 5 is 15 episodes long and kicked off back in January with the concluding chapter of “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” So, when you binge-watch the season, you may wish to check out the first four episodes – on Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash and Arrow, in that order – before you start, just so that you can get the full story.

Legends of Tomorrow said goodbye to another of its long-running cast members in its recent season 5 finale. Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been a regular on the Waverider since season 2, pulling double duty as two separate characters, but the actress has elected to step away from the show to focus on new opportunities.
Yesterday, she took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message of thanks to her fans, co-stars and the Legends production team for making her stint in the Arrowverse so enjoyable.
“I have loved every moment of bringing Amaya and Charlie to life these past 4 years,” Richardson-Sellers began in her caption, which was paired with a promo image of herself as Charlie.
“The most special crew we could ever hope for, through all the long hours, you kept me smiling and created such a strong sense of family and support. The writers and post production team, what a world you have created!

Legends of Tomorrow aired its season finale last night, with episode 5×14 “Swan Thong.” Unlike its fellow Arrowverse shows, though, Legends was able to close production prior to the pandemic, so this was the conclusion to the story as intended. And it featured a major change to the status quo, as one of the show’s longest-running cast members said goodbye to the team as a series regular.
The cast member in question is Maisie Richardson-Sellers, whose character Charlie was written out in “Swan Thong.” Co-showrunner Phil Klemmer spoke to TV Line about the move following the airing of the episode, revealing that the actress’ exit has been in the planning all season. The forewarning allowed them to build up a satisfying ending for Charlie, but at the same time, leave the door open for her to return whenever she likes.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will not included Maisie Richardson-Sellers as a series regular.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 14 -- the show's fifth season finale -- found Charlie opting to stay in 1970s London after saying goodbye to the team.
While her exit was not confirmed at the time, and given that the show tends to switch things up, it has now been confirmed.
Phil Klemmer, one of the showrunners on the Arrowverse series, explained to TV Line that the star's departure had actually been planned for a while, but he didn't rule out a return in the future.
"This was something that was well over a year in the works," he said.
"We knew that [Maisie] was wanting to make her mark as a filmmaker on her own, and so that allowed us to craft a story that would, hopefully, make for a satisfying conclusion.
"The finale was sort of all about her.

This Legends of Tomorrow episode review contains spoilers.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 15
Broadly speaking, there are three types of Legends of Tomorrow episodes. There are the gag episodes, where the entire thing is built around one bit. There are the experimental episodes, with countless examples, the most recent being last week’s Interdimensional Cable episode.
And there are the plot episodes, that move the season’s serialized story along. The first batch are hit or miss depending on how the one bit of the episode lands, but they generally hit. The second batch are what makes Legends Legends, something even the cast agrees with — even when they don’t work, they’re still interesting, and they almost always work spectacularly.
The plot episodes are where the show has traditionally struggled, because the strengths of the show are the characters and relationships they’ve formed, and historically, plot episodes on...

Legends of Tomorrow, arguably the best superhero show on The CW, is in the midst of an incredible (and somehow its best yet) fifth season. Here’s everything you need to know about the new season to keep you up to date with the misadventures of the crew of the Waverider!
Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Return Date
The next episode of Legends of Tomorrow is called “Swan Thong” and it airs on June 2. This is the Legends of Tomorrow season finale. Unlike several other Arrowverse shows, Legends of Tomorrow joins Black Lightning as one that was actually able to finish its season as planned, despite the coronavirus production shutdown, since they had finished shooting much sooner.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Still controlled by the Fates, the Legends find themselves in 1984-esque world, they soon discover that things aren’t as they thought they would be. The Legends must convince...

Though few fans were happy about the news that real-life spouses Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford were leaving the show, Legends of Tomorrow did its best to send the pair off in a way that befitted both their characters. Onscreen couple Ray Palmer and Nora Dahrk tied the knot before deciding to depart the Waverider, and while there’s certainly a conversation to be had about the rushed nature of their trip to the altar, the end result feels earned enough.
Interestingly, however, the focus of the pair’s final episode isn’t on their love story or even the reasons behind their choice to return to life in the real world. Rather, Ray’s relationship with his bestie Nate Heywood takes center stage in “Romeo vs. Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” reminding us all that for all the things Legends does right (of which there are many), its depiction of...

This year’s Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” was the biggest and best yet, essentially delivering everything a fan could ask for: crossovers with multiple classic movies and TV shows, Batman himself and a bunch of Supermen. You know what the only thing that could improve it would be, though? A Marvel/DC crossover where Spider-Man hung out with the Man of Steel.
While such a thing isn’t going to appear on our screens anytime soon, it turns out Brandon Routh and his son Leo created this legendary team-up behind the scenes. The Legends of Tomorrow star shared a cute throwback video on his Instagram today, featuring him in his Kingdom Come Superman suit posing alongside Leo, who was in the guise of the famed webslinger. Like Routh says in his caption, this is “the 1st ever Superman/Spider-Man photoshoot.”

This past Tuesday delivered a monumental episode of Legends of Tomorrow, as both Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford made their last appearances as series regulars. As Ray Palmer/The Atom, Routh has been on board the Waverider from the very beginning, and was also a major player on Arrow before that. Likewise, his real-life wife Ford has become a fan favorite since joining the cast in season 3. As such, there are a lot of folks unhappy that they’ve been written out.
And as has become sadly very clear by now, Routh is one of them. The actor’s previously opened up about how it was certainly neither his nor Ford’s decision to leave and it was something that was sprung on them and, in his words, not handled well. This has led the star to have some mixed feelings about his character’s exit.

Last night, Legends of Tomorrow finally reached an episode that fans of the time-traveling DC series have been dreading – the last appearance for both Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford as regulars. Routh has been on board the Waverider since the show began and Ford has become a firm fan favorite, too, since she joined the cast in season 3. Unfortunately, we learned the news late last year that the real-life couple was being written out of Legends in season 5.
Yesterday’s episode, “Romeo V Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” was the installment in question. Though it was a very sweet, perfect goodbye for the pair – as Ray Palmer and Nora Darhk tied the knot and got themselves a happy ending – fans are mostly just distraught that Mr. and Mrs. Atom are leaving the Arrowverse.
We’re all going to miss them.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 7
It feels right that “Romeo V. Juliet: Dawn of Justness” is Legends of Tomorrow’s big sendoff for Brandon Routh. There’s not really a more Legends way to send Ray Palmer off. There’s a macguffin; they joke around about it for half the episode; they get it; and then they fuck around and do hetero life partner Romeo & Juliet with Nate and Ray for the last half. We’ve seen it a million times.
Seriously, though, this episode of Legends of Tomorrow is every bit as silly and funny as we’ve come to expect from the show, but underneath that ridiculousness is a show with some things to say about friendship and these characters, and it might be me reading into it, but it seems like they might be a little mad about the current state of affairs,...

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 6
Structurally, I think it makes a lot of sense that “Mr. Parker’s Cul-De-Sac,” this week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, starts with an extended reminder of the Beebo/Mallus fight. That’s probably the moment when this show went completely insane. A show born out of multiple resurrections from the dead that spent an entire season grimly plodding through time that then decided to have a little fun had after a time reached its natural climax: five of its team Voltron-ing together to form a giant stuffed toy to fight off a legendary demon. The natural life cycle of a TV show would see it chasing that moment for the rest of its run. Instead, the team at Legends outsmarted their own expectations, and “Mr. Parker’s Cul-De-Sac” completes the show’s pivot to workplace sitcom beautifully,...

Legends of Tomorrow is currently working up to the exit of Ray Palmer/the Atom later this month. Brandon Routh’s shrinking superhero has been with the show since the very beginning, so fans are sad to see him go. Especially, as the star has previously revealed, it wasn’t his decision to vacate the Arrowverse. Though the character is set to get a heartwarming ending, marrying fiancee Nora Darhk, everyone would rather he remain on board the Waverider, including the actor himself.

Back in 2006, Superman Returns was supposed to be the start of a brand new era for the Last Son of Krypton on the big screen. However, it ultimately failed to ignite a new franchise, with the next cinematic outing for the hero being 2013’s Man of Steel reboot. Nowadays, star Brandon Routh is a DC icon, having played the Atom in the Arrowverse for ages, but the first few years after Returns were a tough time for the actor.
While speaking with Michael Rosenbaum – Smallville‘s Lex Luthor – on his Inside Of You podcast, Routh opened up about the “trauma” he went through following Returns turning out not to be a massive success. The worst part seemed to be that he was unable to put the role behind him as he didn’t find out there wasn’t going to be a sequel for a long time.

In TVLine’s exclusive photos from the March 10 episode (The CW, 9/8c), the couple definitely appears to be getting hitched, with baddie Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough) even in attendance to walk his daughter down the aisle. Ray, meanwhile, looks to be clinging to his best buddy Nate as he makes the trip to the altar. (Maybe he’s nervous that his father-in-law is going to be Damian Darhk?)

It was announced back in August that Legends of Tomorrow would be saying goodbye to Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford, and the former has given confirmation that the departure was in no way his choice.
Routh is one of the longest serving Arrowverse actors still around, being introduced in the premiere of season 3 of Arrow as a rival to Oliver in both business and for Felicity’s affections. He began as a serious character with a tragic backstory, although since his relocation to the Waverider he has become something of a comic relief presence – quite a position in a show driven by unbridled lunacy – where his enthusiastic nerdery made him a fan favorite.
A screen grab of a brief Instagram interaction between Routh and a fan was posted to the show’s subreddit this week, where he makes it clear that the decision of him leaving was not his and...

A little partying never killed anybody, right?
Well, it turns out that if you're under a spell that makes you party for days, death might just fall into your lap.
Marie Antoinette, who was strangely played by Courtney Ford with no explanation of why she looked like Nora, was the latest Encore on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 4, who liked to kill her enemies by partying them to death.
However, Marie was not the star of the hour as tensions between some of the Legends boiled over.
For reasons unknown, Sara returned to Star City to take care of some things and left Ava in charge of the Waverider.
It's hard to understand why no one was curious as to why Sara left, but hopefully, there will be a good explanation for it on the upcoming episodes.
Ava seemed to be the obvious choice for interim captain, but...

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 3
“Slay Anything” proves fairly conclusively that Legends is my favorite show on television. It proves it not by any one element that propels it to greatness, but because so much of the episode was thoroughly mediocre to bad. And yet, even with an episode that wasn’t very good, there’s still so much in it that is rewarding and earned and earnest that I would rather watch this episode again than almost anything else on television. That’s a true testament to how good it is.
“Slay Anything” is Legends of Tomorrow’s slasher movie episode. It starts out with Freddy Myers (we’ll come back to this) getting the chair at Iron Heights, for being a serial killer.

Check out an exclusive look at Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 3, in which the Waverider team gets into an '80s slasher movie vibe.
We'll tell anyone who will listen about how much fun Legends of Tomorrow is. Far more than just a superhero show, and with a tone that is completely unique among its Arrowverse brethren, Legends of Tomorrow uses its time-hopping premise to its advantage, not only leaping into different time periods, but different concepts and tones, too. So when a serial killer escapes from hell and is let loose in 2004, and heads straight for a high school reunion? Well, that sure puts us in the mind of classic slasher movies, doesn't it?
Which brings us to Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 3, appropriately titled "Slay Anything" which will go full on with its slasher movie influences on its sleeve.

Joanna Vanderham is set to play a recurring role as one of the “big bads” for Season 5 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the time-traveling superhero series that returns Jan. 21 with its season premiere on The CW.
No word yet on the name of the character but it’s a villain described as “a ruthless killing machine with daggers made of bones. Wherever she goes, death follows.”
Producers note that Vanderham’s character has history that ties her to the past of Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), the British shapeshifter who joined the Waverider crew in Season 4 to avoid banishment in hell.

Fire up the Waverider, because Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will continue to explore the Arrowverse on the CW!
The fifth season of everybody's favorite, weird and wacky time-traveling superhero series hasn't even premiered yet, but we'll be spending plenty of time in the Waverider going forward because Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 has been confirmed by the CW. We sometimes worry a little about our favorite misfits who make up the Legends crew, because the very concept of the series, about a group of misfit superheroes (and the occasional villain) who make their way through history righting wrongs and occasionally causing a few by mistake is pretty specific. The fact that it's made up of some of the most obscure DC superheroes ever to grace a TV screen helps, too.

A lot of changes are coming to Legends of Tomorrow, and not just the “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which will conclude on the series on January 14th.
We now have the season 5 trailer for The CW show and, well, there’s a lot to take in from the clip, which you can catch above. As well as events from the soon-to-launch “Crisis,” we see glimpses of everything from John Constantine to Beebo, and “Mister Parker’s Cul-de-Sac”? Somewhat lagging behind the other Arrowverse series this year, Legends of Tomorrow has finally revealed its season 5 premiere date through a new poster. The show will be back on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020, after presenting a special episode a week earlier to wrap up the highly anticipated “Crisis on Infinite Earths” arc.
We know the season 5 premiere will be called “Meet the Legends,” suggesting that this year will be something of a soft reboot for Legends of Tomorrow after the confirmed departure of Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford as series regulars. This summer saw the news that Astra Logue will be season 5’s big bad as well, the aged up version of the girl that John Constantine condemned to Hell. We also know that Matt Ryan’s Constantine will again be a series regular, and that Tala Ashe is going to be tackling a new version of Zari. Routh and Ford are,...
