After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – but if you were hoping that might mean the new episodes will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025, new cast member Linda Hamilton is here to dash those hopes. While speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year!
Hamilton said, “It’s a year of shooting, so I couldn’t be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we’re used to.“

After making the little-seen 2009 thriller Absence, the filmmaking duo of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer went on to make the impressive 2014 horror film Starry Eyes, which led to them getting the chance to direct the 2019 remake of Pet Sematary. That movie didn’t become as popular as the original film, but it did earn over $100 million at the box office. Five years later, Kölsch and Widmyer have finally set up their next feature: the survival thriller The Swallow, which is set to star Grace Van Dien, who had a memorable role in season 4 of Stranger Things.
Kölsch and Widmyer wrote the screenplay for The Swallow, which was previously featured on the Bloodlist, a list assembled through a survey of industry professionals, who recommend their favorite unproduced thriller and horror scripts. Kevin Kölsch & Dennis Widmyer, the duo behind Starry Eyes and the Pet Sematary remake, are back with the brand new survival horror film The Swallow, Deadline reports.
The cast for the film is led by Grace Van Dien (“Stranger Things”).
“Van Dien stars as Ziggy, who, along with her four friends, journeys out on a camping trip to a picturesque remote forest. But trespassing into an off-limits area, they awaken an uncanny terror in the woods… and a ravenous hunger from within the Earth. Soon, the ground itself is trying to swallow anything and anyone it comes into contact with and Ziggy and her friends have nowhere to run as every trembling step they take could be their last.”

“We immediately fell in love with Bayaʼs script,” said Pulsar Content co-founders Gilles Sousa and Marie Garrett. “It is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, and a wonderful role for Felix Moati.

Next up in our predictions list is a filmmaker tandem that gave us micro indie Swim Little Fish Swim – which was selected as a competition entry at SXSW in 2013. I remember getting Miranda July vibes from this sweet-natured film with heart. At the risk of diving into the annoying and frankly nonsensical discourse surrounding nepotism in the film industry, Amy Redford’s sophomore feature “What Comes Around” represents a curious object. Directed by Robert Redford’s daughter, starring Joaquin Phoenix’s sister Summer Phoenix and Casper Van Dien’s daughter Grace Van Dien (not to mention a cameo appearance by Phoenix and Casey Affleck’s son Indiana), this little IFC Films thriller has more than enough tangential associations.

In her new exclusive uInterview, Amy Redford explained her role as director in her new film What Comes Around and how she approached delicate subjects of consent and online relationships.
The movie follows the life of Anna (Grace Van Dien) starting on the night of her 17th birthday. Redford shared with uInterview founder Erik Meers how the plot is centered on how Anna “is talking to somebody online about poetry and it is pretty clear that that person is not 17. And we find her connecting with her mom, and they have a very close relationship, and yet the way that this relationship unfolds with this gentleman is more complicated than it seems.”
It focuses on lessons about the “connective issue between mother and daughter, between ourselves online, between our own behavior and the fallout from our own behavior.”

While the fall movie lineup continues to shift due to studios adamantly deciding not to fairly pay the writers and actors responsible for them being in business in the first place, not much has changed when it comes to August. Aside from A24 yanking Julio Torres’ Problemista from its August 4 opening, the rest of the calendar has stayed intact and here are the films that should be on your radar.

Led by Grace Van Dien, Summer Phoenix, Jesse Garcia, an Kyle Gallner, the thriller tracked a young love affair that becomes a menacing game of cat and mouse where nothing is what it seems. While it’s best to go in cold, IFC Films have now released a new trailer ahead of an August 4 theatrical debut.
Jared Mobarak said in his review, “What Comes Around is a tricky film to talk about without massive spoilers unless, of course, the eventual marketing campaign decides divulging its secrets will help them sell it. I’m hoping they ultimately choose to keep its twists and turns under wraps because going in blind adds a dimension that I’m sure playwright Scott Organ (who adapts his own “The Thing with Feathers”) intended and director Amy Redford matches.

"I never want to see that man again." IFC Films has revealed the trailer for an indie thriller titled What Comes Around, which initially premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival last year. This originally went under the title Roost, but it has been given a new name for its official release in theaters this summer. In this immersive thriller directed by Amy Redford, a young love affair becomes a menacing game of cat and mouse. Nothing and no one are as they seem... "One moment we think we know where these characters are going; the next, all we know for sure is that the intricacies of family often lie just out of reach." The film stars Grace Van Dien as Anna, Summer Phoenix as Beth, Reina Hardesty, Jesse Garcia, and Kyle Gallner as Eric, the boyfriend. It seems to have quite a few twists and turns, not just a story...

In 2023, it’s fairly commonplace to speak to couples who met online. A lot of the time, people meet partners through dating apps and chat quite a bit before meeting in person. However, just because it happens all of the time, that doesn’t mean it’s completely safe. There are still predators out there, as seen in the new thriller, “What Comes Around.”

A couple weeks ago, it was announced that Terminator star Linda Hamilton has signed on to play a role in season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show. Now Netflix has revealed that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5. They didn’t say which episode he’ll be directing – the premiere, the finale, some episode that will fall in between – but we will be seeing a Trachtenberg-helmed episode somewhere along the line.
Stranger Things season 5 was supposed to be filming right now, but the start of production has been delayed due to the writers strike.
Stranger Things season 4 had the following synopsis: It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for...

More layoffs have come to FaZe Clan. The organization known for blending esports and entertainment will cut about 40% of its workforce as it looks to overcome the financial difficulties that have plagued it since its July 2022 debut as a publicly-traded company.
FaZe CEO Lee Trink announced the layoffs in an email to employees that went out on May 19. The former recording industry exec cited adverse economic conditions as a cause of the cuts. As FaZe fights for survival during a challenging year, the company is prioritizing short-term operations over long-term plans. “This does not mean that we are abandoning the aspirations we have for FaZe — we are simply setting some of our larger goals aside so we can put our heads down and focus on what’s directly in front of us,” reads a portion of Trink’s email shared by Digiday.

Grace Van Dien‘s tenure on Stranger Things only lasted a single episode, but she’s settling into a longer career arc on Twitch. The actress who broke out by portraying the doomed cheerleader Chrissy is now imagining a sitcom featuring popular streamers like Disguised Toast, Valkyrae, Sykkuno, and Pokimane.
Chrissy’s untimely demise in the first episode of Stranger Things‘ fourth season made Van Dien a household name (and the subject of many memes). Though she is Hollywood royalty — the daughter of actor Casper Van Dien and the granddaughter of Golden Age star Robert Mitchum — Van Dien is also an avid gamer who enjoys Valorant and Overwatch. Her personal account became one of the top Twitch channels at the height of Chrissy-mania.
Recent developments have transformed Van Dien’s Twitch presence from a side hustle to a principal focus. She recently explained that a film produced propositioned her on set,...

Actress Grace Van Dien, 26, who famously played Stranger Thing‘s Chrissy Cunningham, has taken a hiatus from her acting career following alleged sexual harassment from an unnamed movie producer, who she said invited her for a threesome.
Though the break probably will not be permanent, she said, she wants to enter the industry on her own terms.
“Here’s the thing: I’ve seen that some people are upset with me for turning down acting projects and deciding to stream more, but the fact of the matter is, the last few projects I’ve worked on, I didn’t have the best experiences with some of the people I had to work for,” she announced during a March 7 Twitch livestream, mentioning that she had turned down four movie roles in the past two and a half weeks.
She explained that her choice will be a step forward for her mental health after the recent incident.

Disney’s Bob Iger has said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs some “newness”.
During an appearance at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference this week, the 72-year-old businessman was asked whether Marvel needs to carry on with multiple sequels for individual characters.
“Sequels typically worked well for us,” Iger responded. “Do you need a third and a fourth, for instance? Or is it time to turn to other characters?
“There’s nothing in any way inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand,” he added. “I think we just have to look at what characters and stories we’re mining, and you look at the trajectory of Marvel over the next five years, you’ll see a lot of newness.
“We’re going to turn back to the Avengers franchise, but with a whole different set of Avengers.”
