Maria Schrader tried to help her find a director for the movie version of
Shalev's novel "Love Life", _Liebesleben (2006)_, but finally the German actress
decided to do it herself.

I pay a lot of attention to style. Maybe it's because I started as a poet, and when I moved to prose it was very important to me not to leave poetry completely. This is the voice that comes from me, inside.
Writing for me is not a therapy. It's bigger than that. It's my destiny, and it's very demanding work. It needs a lot of work even though I enjoy every minute of it. But one of my biggest wishes is that my books will be therapeutic for other people. I know that it happens from time to time. For me that's the best compliment.
