Principal photography for “Man & Witch,” an homage to the fantasy films of the 1980s, has wrapped after a six-week shoot on location in Scotland and Los Angeles.
The film, directed by Michael Hines (“Still Game”) marks the comeback of child star Tami Stronach, best known for her role as the Childlike Empress in “The NeverEnding Story” (1984). Stronach plays the title role of Witch who helps a cursed goatherd in his quest for love. Sean Astin (“Stranger Things”), Jennifer Saunders (“Absolutely Fabulous”), Eddie Izzard (“Hannibal”) and Bill Bailey (“Hot Fuzz”) voice the goatherd’s loyal companions Dog, Goose, Sheep and Donkey, brought to life with photo-realistic puppets fabricated by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, and operated by a team of puppeteers led by Damien Farrell (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”).
The cast also includes Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future”), Shorhreh Aghdashloo (“The Expanse”), Michael Emerson (“Lost”), Pauline McLynn...

To coincide with the recent release of live stand up show In the Midst of Crackers, we were privileged to have an opportunity to chat with honest comedian Reginald D. Hunter about his latest DVD release. Reginald shared with us a brief insight into his unique process, the ongoing evolution of In the Midst of Crackers, his thoughts on future shows and ‘comedy Reg’s’ spiritual home – comprising an interview in the midst of reflections.
What is the process of writing a stand-up comedy show?
Well I can only speak about my process, and I’m sure that comments vary. When I write stand-up, I try not to write primarily from the position of what’s funny. I try and start from the position of what’s interesting, and with a subject matter, an opening statement or an idea whose nature is inherently interesting, so that the moment you start talking about it,...

I think it’s easy to say that Reginald D. Hunter didn’t have the best of years in 2013 in the United Kingdom, though he came out on top because of the idiocy of the people who took offence. Let’s just say that the “Professional Footballers’ Association” really should have been aware of the language used by the comedian before they booked him, to get offended by it…well that was the stupid part.
To focus on the DVD release though it’s nice to see that Reginald D. Hunter Live: In The Midst of Crackers can take all that controversy and turn it into part of the act. Was Hunter in the wrong because he used the dreaded “N word”? (I term it that way because I don’t really need to say it) the short answers is no, he was not in the wrong. Reginald D. Hunter...

TV writer Brian Lowry in hot water, Reginald Hunter says being called misogynist is 'rude' and Omid Djalili tries to crack America – again
This week's comedy news
An august organ makes a fool of itself this week, as the influential Hollywood trade mag Variety slams Us standup Sarah Silverman for trying to be "as dirty as the guys". Silverman fans and comedy commentators immediately rounded on the paper's TV columnist Brian Lowry, accusing him of sexism and a failure to understand Silverman's comedy. In a review of her new HBO special We Are Miracles, Lowry wrote that Silverman (who has 4.8m Twitter followers) has only "frittered around the edges of breakout success … Despite all manner of career-friendly gifts – from her looks to solid acting chops – she's limited herself by appearing determined to prove she can be as dirty and distasteful as the boys."
For these comments, the critic was instantly criticised.

We’ve all got that cousin we don’t know very well. The kind you see once or twice a year, make small talk, ask how work is going, meet their kids you can’t remember the names of, and then go on your way, knowing six months are to pass before you have to go through it all again. Well, in regards to keeping up appearances, these cousins all need Christmas presents, and knowing what to buy somebody you don’t know very well, isn’t the easiest of tasks.
However that task has just been made far more accomplishable, as next week – which we’ve decided to extravagantly call the ‘ultimate week of comedy’ – marks the release of an incredible 10 stand up comedians’ live DVDs and Blu-rays, all hitting our (mostly virtual) shelves on November 18th, and where better to begin your festive shopping than with comedy? So,...

Stand-up comedian Reginald D. Hunter’s first live DVD was released on Monday, but we’re giving two lucky winners the chance to see the comic live at the Oxford New Theatre on November 27th!
A three time Perrier award nominee, Hunter is no stranger to the stage making his first Edinburgh Festival appearance in 2002 and gaining a nomination for the Perrier Best Newcomer award. In 2006, Reginald won The Writers’ Guild Award for Comedy for a show, which he presented for a season in London’s West End and on a national tour of the UK. Born in Georgia, USA, Reginald moved to the UK ten years ago where he studied at Rada and went on to perform in good old fashioned Pantomime. His comedy career was launched when he took part in an open spot as a dare. Reginald has been a regular panelist on Sir Trevor Macdonald’s News Knight,...

Reginald D. Hunter is one of those comedians that are often seen on television in the United Kingdom. You’ll see him on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You and Qi to name just a few of the popular shows he’s often in and personally I find him to be one of the better comedians. That’s not saying that the comedians on those shows are bad, it’s a case that he’s one of the ones that always tends to stand out from the crowd.
On his new live DVD, Reginald D. Hunter Live, I was hoping for him to exhibit his usual intelligent and often crude style of comedy that he shows on television and he didn’t let me down this time. He has the ability to take quite controversial subjects sometimes and create jokes that brush against the limits of taste...

Pick Of The Week
Franklin & Bash: Season 1 (DVD)
When Peter Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Jared Franklin (Breckin Meyer), two young attorneys with a no-holds-barred courtroom style, are hired by Stanton Infeld (Malcolm McDowell), life at his buttoned-down law firm will never be the same. Working with their equally oddball staff – researcher Pindar Singh (Kumail Nanjiani) and paralegal Carmen Phillips (Dana Davis) – Franklin and Bash shake things up at the firm with their audacious tactics and immediately find an enemy in its star lawyer, Infeld’s nephew Damien Karp (Reed Diamond). While the sexual tension between Jared and senior partner Hanna Linden...

Christmas is almost upon us, so you know what that means – seasonal stand-up comedy DVDs! We’ve been inundated with press releases for DVD after DVD, so many in fact that its hard to keep track – from comedians such as Milton Jones, Peter Kay, Tim Minchin, Reginald D. Hunter and, as per the title, Chris Addison.
Now you may recognise Addison from his role as Ollie in the BBC 2 television BAFTA Award-winning satire The Thick of It and Toby in its spin-off film In the Loop, or from his appearances on my favourite panel show Mock The Week or even those annoying Direct Line ads; but besides his TV work Addison is also a prolific stand-up comedian and its his latest 66-show tour that forms the basis of his new stand-up DVD, Chris Addison Live, which is released in the UK on November 14th.
Thanks to the folks at Universal...

Chicago – “I don’t even know what to do on this show. We just talk?” asks comic Bobby Slayton in episode four of the new Showtime series “The Green Room with Paul Provenza.” Yes. And therein lies the problem.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
Certainly, the premise of “The Green Room” is not new. Jon Favreau’s IFC series “Dinner for Five” was also an unscripted, round robin, celebrities-just-talking-for-30-minutes style of show. But while the success of “Dinner” hinged somewhat on the selection of guests on each episode, host Favreau was charismatic, a little cocky and, ultimately, interesting enough to make the show work most of the time, regardless of the cast.
