From a Run-d.M.C. classic to raps with not-so-merry sentiments, here's MTV News' nontraditional playlist.

Sure, Michael Bublé and Justin Bieber are the current Christmas crown holders, but what if your yuletide tastes require a harder edge? While rappers aren't exactly known for spreading holiday cheer, hip-hop has given fans plenty of rap carols. Run-d.M.C.'s 1987 classic "Christmas in Hollis" may be the most-popular, but new-schoolers like Ludacris and Kanye West have kept rap's Xmas tradition alive.
If you've grown tired of listening to Nat King Cole's 1946 "The Christmas Song" or even Mariah Carey's more recent 1994 hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You," MTV News has compiled a 12-song playlist of rap's best Christmas-themed hits.
"Christmas in Hollis," Run-d.M.C.
No doubt the greatest rap carol ever recorded, this 1987 classic found Run and partner-in-rhyme D.

Yes, Hollywood actresses can rely on teams of stylists, makeup artists and lighting technicians to keep them looking glamorous onscreen. But even offscreen, these starlets always seem so put-together. How do they do it? MTV News set out to find some answers when we caught up with rising star Teresa Palmer, who has two films on the way, this week's alien adventure "I Am Number Four" and next month's "Take Me Home Tonight."
In "I Am Number Four," Palmer plays the very kick-ass, smoldering alien warrior Number Six. Palmer's character, along with Number Four (Alex Pettyfer), are two of nine extraordinarily gifted aliens sent to Earth from their dying planet, Lorien. Unfortunately the evil beings that destroyed Lorien, called Mogodorians, have...

“Clap your hands everybody, if you’ve got what it takes, cos I’m Krs and I’m on the mic and Premier’s on the breaks.”
Now I know what your thinking: what a weird way to begin this article, but in a sense this is the best way to describe just what hip hop is. Well, the best way to describe a hip hop song at least. Hip hop is a culture built on 5 pillars: DJ’ing, Rapping, Graffiti, Breaking, and beatboxing. DJ Hero encapsulates one of these pillars and does an awesome job of making you feel like a DJ without piling on the intricacies of “turn-tablism.” However DJ Hero was less successful then its rhythm-game brethren and seemed to never really find its audience. Now there were many factors related to its lower sales, but the quality of the game was not one as it was considered a critical success.

As you have seen, we’ve been closely following the release of DJ Hero, the next step in rhythm gaming from Activision. Today is no exception as the company has now released the full 93 song set list for the game. While all club styled mixes, remixes and mashups, DJ Hero boasts one of the most varied collection of artists in any Hero franchise release.
With everything from the Jackson 5 to 2Pac, Daft Punk to Queen and everything in between, that variety of DJ Hero’s playlist is unmatched, as long as you like mashups and remixes. If you are a musical purist to the extreme, this game isn’t really what you’d be looking for.
In addition, the game will feature 10 tracks where players can plug in their Guitar Hero guitar and play alongside their friend on the DJ Hero turntable for a true real time rock / dance mashup.

Juice Crew legend Masta Ace has successfully reinvented himself as a concept-album maestro and mentor to younger artists. The indie-rap super-group Emc pairs Ace with three of those protégés: Milwaukee's Strick and Lyricist Lounge cut-ups Punchline and Wordsworth. On the quartet's rock-solid debut effort, The Show, each of the group's members ably inhabits a clearly defined role. Masta Ace reigns as the older, wiser hip-hop elder statesman, Strick is his cocky sidekick, Wordsworth is the sensitive deep thinker, and Punchline lives up to his moniker with smartass battle rhymes. The group members share a gift for casual storytelling, as well as a fondness for mellow, melodic beats and sturdy song concepts. "Winds Of Change" traces hip-hop's evolution from the golden age to the current aluminum era, and the gang gets all touchy-feely with album-closing tracks paying...
