The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is finally here, and both fans and critics have had the opportunity to voice their opinions on the movie and will be able to do it in the upcoming weeks. The Planet of the Apes reboot franchise has been one of the most successful reboots in history, with the new trilogy becoming a critical and commercial success. Now, a new trilogy set 300+ years after the first one is in the works, and it seemed that 20th Century Studios was taking a big risk with this new trilogy, but as things stand now – the risk had paid off!
Namely, as per the earlier critics’ reviews, the film has already been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 82% rating after 164 reviews. The fans are also very satisfied with the movie, as it seems, with the movie having an identical rating among fans as well.

Stars: Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, William H. Macy, Travis Jeffery, Lydia Peckham, Dichen Lachman | Written by Josh Friedman | Directed by Wes Ball
Directed by Wes Ball (the Maze Runner movies), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth film in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise and the tenth Apes film overall, if you include Tim Burton’s 2001 version. The new film is set 300 years after the events of War of the Planet of the Apes (2017) and is clearly intended as the first instalment of a new trilogy, even if the marketing hasn’t shouted about that all too loudly.
After a short prelude depicting the ceremonial funeral of Caesar (the noble leader of the apes and the hero of the previous movies), a caption explains that a virus has all but wiped out mankind and apes are now the dominant species on Earth.

A final trailer arrives to build anticipation ahead of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes' UK release on 9th May.
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes is just eight days from release here in the UK. Because of last year’s strikes, blockbuster movies are a thinner on the ground this summer. That means we’re all hoping that this movie can not only live up to the quality of the excellent trilogy that preceded it, but also do great business theatrically to ease the burden on cinemas until normal service is resumed in the blockbuster pipeline.
The previous trilogy that 20th Century Fox brought us between 2011 and 2017 was a series of remakes/reimagingings/whatever term we’re going for that felt fresh and crucially, maintained a high level of quality throughout the entirety of the three film series. It's finally happening: we're getting another season of Severance.
Who knew a cliffhanger could keep us on the edge of our seats for nearly two years? It takes a crackpot writing team and a stellar cast to elicit the kind of response that the season one finale got out of its fanbase, and boy, does Severance deliver on both fronts.
The news we've all been anxiously waiting for is here. Season two is coming, and it's sure to be a doozy.
It may be because this millennial's first introduction to Ben Stiller was his three-film stint as Greg Focker, but his directorial deftness still exceeds expectations.
Plus, with a cast teeming with industry legends, it's no surprise that Apple TV was more than happy to gift us another season. So, without further ado, here's everything we know about what's to come for our friends at Lumon Industries.
Where Did Severence Season 1 Leave Off?...

Welcome back to Lumon.
“Severance” Season 2 has returned to production, which was delayed for months due to the Hollywood strikes.
Season 2 of the popular Apple TV+ thriller stopped shooting in May 2023 when the Writers Guild of America first went on strike against the studios represented by the AMPTP. The writers strike ended on Sept. 26, but by that point, SAG-AFTRA was 74 days into a strike of its own. Fans can take a trip to the “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” sooner than expected.
Disney is moving up the release date for the new “Planet of the Apes” movie from May 24 to May 10. It avoids a crowded Memorial Day holiday weekend that also includes the releases of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “The Garfield Movie.” The apes will now take on the Amy Winehouse biopic, “Back to Black,” on the new date.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” will also screen in Imax for the first two weeks of its release, marking a first for an “Apes” movie.
The new movie is set 300 years in the future and follows a new civilization of apes, monkeys, gorillas, orangutans and other primates. The previous reboot trilogy, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011), “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (2014) and “War for the Planet of the Apes...

Filmmaker Wes Ball’s 2024 summer tentpole Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will try to conquer moviegoers two weeks early.
Disney’s 20th Century Studios announced Friday that the film will now open May 10 instead of May 24. The shift gives it distance from the crowded Memorial Day marquee, which includes George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (Warner Bros.) and The Garfield Movie (Sony).
The move was a no-brainer since there is no direct competition on that date in terms of a new tentpole. Plus, it gives Planet of the Apes Imax screens for the first two weeks of its a release, as well as other large-format screens (it’s the first of the multitude of the Apes films to play in Imax.)

The Maze Runner trilogy director Wes Ball’s addition to the Planet of the Apes franchise, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is set to reach theatres on May 24, 2024 – and in an interview with Empire magazine, Ball revealed that he has drawn inspiration from the likes of Star Wars and Apocalypto when putting together his Apes movie.
According to Empire, Ball is making Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes “an adventure movie, tonally distinct from the darker impulses of the recent Apes trilogy, while hoping to retain what made those films so special.” The director said, “When I first started on it, I said, ‘I feel like Apes needs a little bit of Star Wars’. It’s all still very grounded in reality, but it is essentially a quest narrative. Our main character – the young, impressionable Noa [Owen Teague] – meets characters along the way and becomes awakened as...

The world truly belongs to the apes in the first trailer for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.”
Set generations after the 2017 trilogy capper, “Kingdom” concerns the legacy of Ceasar’s reign, with multiple ape societies flourishing. The trailer is mostly voiceover, with a young ape opining about visions that may be memories or might be something more. The rest of the 106-second trailer, which you can watch above, is a series of visually dynamic but narratively cryptic images, showing off a new status quo where the apes are the uncontested leaders while what’s left of humanity exists in a feral state.
The new installment comes courtesy of director Wes Ball. He earned plaudits for directing all three chapters of the mid-2010s “Maze Runner” series. This film, penned by Josh Friedman, Rich Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison, stars William H. Macy, Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Peter Macon,...

"Severance" season two seems to have hit another snag. Production on the show's next installment has screeched to a halt in New York amid the ongoing writers' strike, Deadline reported on May 8.
Just a few days earlier, star Zach Cherry had confirmed that filming was in progress and said "things have been going good" in a May 4 interview with Entertainment Tonight. While Cherry didn't give away much information at the time, he said that when reading the second season's script, "My reaction was the same as my reaction was to the first script in season one, which is, 'This is good!'"
"Severance" season two may have already experienced some setbacks, as in late April, Puck News reported that it had been delayed partly due to animosity between showrunners Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman. Maximilian Osinski makes a big splash in season three of "Ted Lasso" as Zava, a soccer superstar with a big ego - but maybe a big heart to match. AFC Richmond brings him in to try to keep the team from getting relegated - and to one-up West Ham, owned by the villainous Rupert (Anthony Head) and coached by Nate (Nick Mohammed). But what fans might not know is that Osinski is married to an actor who's making splashes on an Apple TV+ series of her own: Dichen Lachman, who plays Ms. Casey on the hit series "Severance." On "Severance," Lachman's Ms. Casey is a mysterious employee at Lumon Industries who, fans learn in the season finale, is tied to a deep secret the company is keeping from Mark S (Adam Scott).
Osinski and Lachman married in 2015 and share a daughter born that same year. Both have been working actors for a long time.

There’s a new star on the pitch. The third episode of Ted Lasso’s third season introduced a soccer player so famous he goes by a one-word moniker — Zava.
Played by Agents of Shield star Maximilian Osinski, Zava will have more screen time as the season unfolds, and the actor is still pinching himself. “I couldn’t believe it at first,” says Osinski, who is married to actress Dichen Lachman, featured on another Apple TV+ hit, Severance. “You watch a show for two years as a fan and never imagine that one day you’ll be in a scene standing opposite Jason Sudeikis.”
Co-creator Brendan Hunt, an executive producer who also plays Coach Beard, says Zava was inspired by some of the sport’s “more colorful divas” including “a lot” of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “Zlatan is among the most unique of that breed of God-gifted lunatic.”
The Swedish superstar, who now plays for A.

The world of "Planet of the Apes" continues to grow, and the latest film has just cast Dichen Lachman in an undisclosed role, per The Hollywood Reporter. These days Lachman is most recognizable for her turn as the mysterious corporate counselor Ms. Casey on the excellent Apple TV+ series "Severance," but she's been a stand-out in sci-fi projects in particular for years now, with memorable turns in "The 100," "Dollhouse," "Altered Carbon," and more. She also appeared in last year's blockbuster "Jurassic World Dominion."
While Lachman's part in the story is still under wraps, THR's report also includes some plot details for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," and the story frankly sounds pretty wild. Severance actress Dichen Lachman is going ape.
Lachman, who plays a key role opposite Adam Scott in the buzzy Apple TV+ show, has joined the chest-thumping cast of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, 20th Century Studio’s latest Planet of the Apes movie.
The new Apes movie is set many years after the conclusion of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Many apes societies have grown from when the Moses-like Caesar brought his people to an oasis, while humans have been reduced to a feral-like existence. Some groups have never heard of Caesar, while others have contorted his teaching to build burgeoning empires.
In this setting, one ape leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while another ape, who watched his clan be taken, embarks on a journey to find freedom. A young human woman becomes key to latter’s quest, although she has plans of her own.

(Left) Julia Roberts; (Right) Cate Blanchett and Natasha Lyonne all attend the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards.
This week marked a seismic shift in awards season in Hollywood, as key events like the AFI Awards Luncheon and the BAFTA Tea Party shifted away from Golden Globes weekend and onto the one now owned by the Critics Choice Awards. Beautiful and talented people were everywhere, cool new streaming films and shows premiered and it rained like we needed Noah’s Ark here in Southern California. The Sundance Film Festival opened, too, sending everyone who has an independent film into the Wasatch Mountains (more on that next week).

Severance is an Apple TV+ sci-fi psychological thriller series created by Dan Erickson, directed by Ben Stiller, and stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, John Turturro and Tramell Tillman.
An excellent series that has been awarded with an Emmy and has received raving reviews. Thrilling, engaging and intriguing, it tells a novel story with interesting characters brought forth with the astounding performances by an A-list cast. It navigates drama, thriller and sci-fi so craftily, it will have you glued to the screen.
Premise
Mark S. leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This innovative experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work … and of himself.

Exclusive: Veteran Saw cast member Shawnee Smith is circling the newest installment in the billion-dollar horror franchise from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, which is currently in production in Mexico City, Deadline hears.
While the studio declined to comment on Smith’s casting, we understand that it has continued to expand its cast for the tenth Saw film following the closing of deals for Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) and Michael Beach (Dahmer). Then, there’s horror icon Tobin Bell, who will return for another go-round as Jigsaw Killer John Kramer, as previously announced.
Details as to the plot of the new film are under wraps, though we know that franchise veteran Kevin Greuter — who helmed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, and edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw — has returned as director. While there’s no word yet on the characters to be played by Lund,...
