She met her husband Raymond whilst they were both freshmen at Yale.
They became reacquainted at their 15th college reunion and began dating
shortly thereafter. He works as a manager of the marketing unit of
Carlson in New Jersey.
She was the winner of the 2006 Whiting Writing Award for emerging
writers.
She is a graduate from Yale. She received a Master of Fine Arts in
creative writing from the University of Iowa and, in 1998 and 1999,
studied Korean as a Fulbright fellow at Yonsei University and Seoul
National University.
She wrote "Notes From the Divided Country: Poems" (Louisiana State
University Press, 2003), which was the winner of the 2002 Walt Whitman
Award from the Academy of American Poets.
