Frank Mir has gone and followed in the footsteps of Alstair Overeem, the last man to beat him (and Brock Lesnar) in the octagon, and called out the current WWE champion for another fight in the Ufc.
That’s right, Mir has called out Brock Lesnar for one last go, which would be the rubber match in their potential trilogy, currentlynnnnnnnn tied with each fighter having one win a piece. Mir defeated Lesnar in the wrestling star’s Ufc debut, but Lesnar got his revenge in front of the largest Ufc PPV audience in history at Ufc 100. Lesnar would go on to be the most successful Ufc champ to date (tied with Tim Sylvia, Randy Couture, and Cain Velasquez), while Mir’s career would wind up in a tailspin – the once feared heavyweight is currently on an 0-4 stretch. A streak like that usually means a quick exit from the promotion,...

It was the Ufc’s first trip to Maine, home state of former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (who campaigned hard to appear on the card to no avail, as he has not fought in the promotion in years). That marks the 32nd state the promotion has visited, in addition to numerous countries around the globe.
Along the way to the main event, “Smiling” Sam Alvey and Tom Watson put on a great battle for fans where there was really no loser, Sara McMann picked up her first win since her title fight loss to Ronda Rousey, and Thiago Tavares picked up his second submission in a row to open the main card.
Later in the night, Shawn Jordan picked up a much needed win at heavyweight, and debuting fighter and former male model Alan Jouban shocked us all, knocking out opponent and Ufc/Ifl vet Seth Baczynski, proving once again...

According to a report by Fox Sports, Brandon Vera, who once promised to hold a belt in two weight classes in the Ufc, has been released by the promotion – or two be more specific, the two sides have “cut ties.”
Vera started his tenure with the company in 2005, at Ultimate Fight Night 2 where he won via Ko against Fabiano Scherner. After a 3-0 run at heavyweight, it was announced that his next match, against Frank Mir, would be a title eliminator.
It looked like Vera’s promise of holding two belts would have a chance of coming to fruition – especially after he won the Mir fight by Tko. However, a contract dispute saw him lose his shot at the belt. He would then suffer the first two losses of his career, to Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum, before dropping to light heavyweight.
He would go 4-4 (1) at light heavyweight...

Pride legend and former Ufc fighter Cro Cop is heading back to Japan!
A bout between Pride legend Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović and Olympic Judo gold medal winner Satoshi Ishii has been announced for August’s Inoki Genome Fight 2 in Japan. The heavyweight clash takes place August 23rd in Tokyo.
Cro Cop is 1-1 since leaving the Ufc and briefly retiring from competition in Mma, a period that saw him heading back to the kickboxing realm. There, he would enter and later win the K-1 2012 Grand Prix. In the midst of the tournament (which spans several months), Filipović returned to the Mma world and beat the unknown Shinichi Suzukawa in 2012, before losing to Oleksiy Oliynyk the following year (Oliynyk earned himself a Ufc contract after that fight).
The legendary fighter struggled in his Ufc appearances, and would later openly admit that he was unhappy with how he performed in the promotion,...

Bautista's very first professional Mma fight was nearly scrapped this week when his opponent was arrested for a probation violation ... but TMZ has learned organizers have dug up a replacement fighter just in the nick of time. The fight has been in the works for months ... the ex-wwe champ was slated to get in the ring with Rashid Evans (not the one from the Ufc) at a CES Mma event in Providence, Rhode Island. But...

On December 30, 2011 at Ufc 141, Brock Lesnar entered the octagon for the eighth time against Alistair Overeem (36-11). Two minutes, twenty six seconds, and a liver kick later, the fight and Lesnar’s career were over.
In the post-match interview with Rogan, Lesnar humbly declared his retirement after two tough years of illness, surgery, and successive losses. He was an Ncaa champion, a professional wrestler, a failed football player, and now a retired cage fighter.
Its now our job to figure out what Brock and his short, but enigmatic career actually meant.
The Fighter
Brock is a free style wrestler. Or perhaps I should say, “was” because the last time he wrestled competitively prior to joining the Ufc was way back in 2000 when he was an All-American and National Champion for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. And nothing says bad ass like a gopher. Especially the golden ones.
With a 106-5 record in college and junior college,...

Anderson Silva, the man many call the top pound for pound fighter in the world, won his eleventh fight in a row in the Ufc Octagon Saturday night in Abu Dhabi. It was his sixth defense of his middleweight title, a Ufc record. There's no question that he's on another level, miles ahead of his opponents in skill and athleticism. So, why is everyone so angry?
"I don't think I've ever been more embarrassed in the 10 years of being in this business and first time I've ever walked out on a main event and given the belt to the guy's manager and told him to put it on," Ufc President Dana White said at the post fight press conference.
White, who has sat through horrible fights between the likes of Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski actually got up and walked out of the arena in the fourth round. "... A lot...

'News' (ahem) broke this weekend that Ufc heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia was currently currently shooting a sequel to the Platinum Dunes Friday the 13th remake in Boston and that he (insert laugh track here) was playing Jason Vorehees. Derek Mears played the masked maniac in the first flick and Will play Jason in the second, if it's indeed greenlit that is. Platinum Dunes Producer Brad Fuller updated his Twitter feed to lay this rumor to rest. Hit the jump to see what he had to say. And shame on Yahoo for posting this rumor as well. From Platinum Dunes Producer Brad Fuller: nope- the only jason i work with is derek mears- that includes cameos and dont believe the rumor. We are...

Ok, please somebody, wake me up, hurry, I’m having a nightmare!!! Many sources have confirmed this news: Mma fighter and former Ufc champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia is going to be wearing the infamous hockey mask when Friday the 13th Part 2 begins filming this fall… First, Let’s clear things up a little. This is not a personal attack against Tim Sylvia. The F13 franchise is very near and dear to my heart. I was extremely happy with Derek Mears portrayal in the reboot. As far as I am concerned, he was one of the best ever. I have contacted Derek and I am waiting to hear back from him Asap. I will definitely keep [...]...

The rumor that Ufc Champion Tim Sylvia is currently playing Jason in the Friday the 13th sequel is just that, a rumor! Platinum Dunes "producer" Brad Fuller took the time to remove his peen from Mr. Disgusting of Bloody-Disgusting's ass, long enough to write, "Dont believe the rumor. We are Not shooting F13 right now, and the only person I want to work with as Jason is Derek Mears." The story claiming Sylvia would be playing "Jason Voorhees in the yet-to-be-titled 'Friday the 13th' sequel," originally appeared on Fighters.com on Sept 2nd, and quickly spread across the Interwebs. Super Journalist Brad Miska (Mr. D) dispelled the rumor on Sept 6th.

Given the immensely rising popularity of Mixed Martial Arts, I would not be at all shocked if some enterprising filmmaker eventually devises a slasher movie based around the world of Mma. But contrary to what some of you may have heard on the Internet in the past 24 hours, no, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight is not the new Jason Voorhees.
The story originated at Fighters.com that former Ufc champion Tim Sylvia would be playing the role of Jason in the next Friday the 13th sequel already filming in Boston. The author even claims to have gotten it confirmed from an undisclosed source close to the washed-up ultimate fighter.
I say "washed-up" because his contract got dropped by Ufc not long after he lost the heavyweight title, and in his last match, an unsanctioned cage fighting show in Alabama, Sylvia showed up fat and out-of-shape and proceeded to get...
