One of the closest races of the 2018 midterms was the battle for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona vacated by Jeff Flake. It took a recount to determine that Democrat Kyrsten Sinema edged out Republican Martha McSally, who ignored calls from the White House to accuse her opponent of voter fraud. McSally was rewarded less than a month later, though, when Arizona Governor Doug Ducey tapped her to step in for Jon Kyl, who replaced John McCain following his death in August, only to resign in December. It’s going...

The Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court battle has turned into one of the most contentious nominations in our nation’s history. President Trump’s nominee has been accused of past sexual assaults and of being dishonest before the Senate.
Despite testimony by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Kavanaugh’s nomination cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee on a party-line vote on September 28th. Following an unaccountably incomplete investigation by the FBI, Kavanaugh’s nomination cleared a key procedural hurdle, setting up a final vote this weekend.

The long-rumored frontrunner for the Republican-held FCC post left open when Robert McDowell departed in April is now officially the nominee. The White house said today that Michael O’Rielly, a top policy adviser with current Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn, will be recommended for confirmation. O’Rielly has worked in the Gop Whip’s Office since 2010, and he was previously Deputy Chief of Staff and Policy Director to Sen Jon Kyl. O’Rielly’s communications experience includes work in the Senate as a Policy Analyst for Banking, Technology, Transportation, Trade, and Commerce issues, as a staffer on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and as a Telecommunications Policy Analyst in the mid-1990s. Las Vegas — Gamblers who prefer their laptops to blackjack tables could soon get a boost from Washington.
Republican New York Congressman Peter King proposed federal regulations Thursday that would rescue online gambling from the legal gray zone where it currently languishes.
The federal government cracked down on online poker in 2011. But the same year, the U.S. Justice Department issued a ruling making online gambling legal so long as it's permitted on the state level.
Congress flirted with an online gambling bill last year, but industry infighting and partisan disagreement ultimately doomed it. When that legislation failed, states began moving ahead on their own.
Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have legalized some kind of online gambling, and legislatures in other states are weighing the issue.
Morgan Stanley predicts that by 2020, online gambling in the U.S. will produce the same amount of revenue as Las Vegas and Atlantic City markets combined: $9.3 billion.

Ann Coulter is not one to toe the party line, no matter how much of a conservative she is, and today on The O'Reilly Factor she proposed to host Bill O'Reilly that Republicans calling for Sen. Marco Rubio to be on the presidential ticket alongside Mitt Romney were "pandering" to Latin Americans and squandering a good chance. Of course, Coulter proposed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as a good Vice President, but, more confusingly, she tossed out the name of Republican Sen. Jon Kyl.
