- Heather Couper was born on June 2, 1949 in Wallasey, Cheshire, England, UK. She was a writer and producer, known for Universe (1999), The Planets (1985) and The Stars (1988). She died on February 19, 2020 in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, UK.
- One of Britain's best known astronomers. She was president of the British Astronomical Society from 1984-1986.
- She left a management trainee job at Top Shop to become a research assistant at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge. Her big break came when she appeared as a guest on Sir Patrick Moore's The Sky at Night (1957). After studying astrophysics at Oxford University, she ran the Greenwich Planetarium. She was the chair of astronomy at Gresham College, a post which had been held by both Isaac Newton and Christopher Wren.
