Despite some serious backlash and controversy over its supposed whitewashing of a beloved Japanese property, Ghost In The Shell is performing very nicely in Japan. The first trailer for the film recently debuted, and the Japanese-subtitled YouTube version of the trailer has already notched north of a quarter million views with the "Likes" outnumbering the "Dislikes" by a margin of 10 to 1.
They seem to be liking what they're seeing, and this is the latest indication of Japanese Ghost In The Shell fans being caught off-guard by the backlash the production has received here in the States ever since it was announced that Scarlett Johansson would be playing The Major.
Reports coming out of the Japanese film industry and its fans, dating back to April of this year, have indicated that fans of the original property never even expected the Hollywood version to cast a Japanese actress in the first place.

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Karate Tortoise
Logline: A silly series about an unimpressive tortoise and his Damsel friend who battle a medley of unlikely superheroes for pizza. This live action cartoon will be created through prosthetics, puppetry, stop motion animation, and miniature models.
Elevator Pitch:
Ever watch Disney’s “Aladdin?” “SNL?” “Problem Child?” What do they have in common? Comedic legend Gilbert Gottfried – and he’s signed on to play a villain in our series, the “Karate Tortoise.” Let’s just say there will be glitter and tap shoes. Spinoffs of your favorite ’90s characters – Ninja Turtles, Mario, Spiderman! It’s Old Greg from “The Mighty Boosh...

One of the main reasons I purchased both the Wii U and the New 3Ds, is for their virtual game library which includes classics from the Nes, Super Nes and Gameboy eras, along with other systems such as N64, Sega Master System, Genesis and Neo Geo when clicking into the Wii menu. Who wouldn’t want to play Mario 64, Contra 3: Alien Wars or any of the Mega Man titles, all games which have aged well over the years? Today, Nintendo of America announced the release of a host of first- and third-party digital games, including some from acclaimed indie developers, to the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3Ds in 2015. In addition to anticipated upcoming games like Affordable Space Adventures, Runbow and Swords & Soldiers II, the newly announced Sos favourites Don’t Starve: Giant Edition and Never Alone will be coming to the Wii U console with exclusive GamePad features and functionality.

Shante, you slay.
We're nearing the end of RuPaul's Drag Race's fifth season, and that means it's time to make an important list: the 10 funniest queens in the show's history. In an age when people like Vivienne Pinay and Ivy Winters insist that fishiness is more important than comic chops, we need to fight back. I watch this show for unbridled sauciness, wit, and unapologetic humor, and these ten queens all boasted fine gut-busting instincts.
10. Detox
I have to be honest: I nearly gave this spot to Tatianna, whose performance as Britney Spears remains Snatch Game's most hilarious triumph, but Detox is truly the funnier performer. Her wise-ass commentaries, chicken fierceness, amazing side-eye, jaw-wagging lip-sync skills, and general weariness of everything are total treats. She'd probably laugh more at herself if her facial muscles were capable of abject glee. I'm always waiting to hear her next confessional, particularly after...

“Two households. Both alike in dignity. In fair Verona, where we lay our scene.” William Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet. I get it now. I finally get it. What I once thought was avant-garde, superhero-styled vampire versus werewolf tale was nothing more than Shakespeare with fangs. No wonder those kids I knew in drama class love this film! Why I didn’t see that until...

It was high fives and drool buckets all 'round when Quiet Earth discovered Larry Fessenden would be in Toronto for the final days of TAD08 to be in attendance at the World Premiere of I Sell The Dead. Would he do an interview? Yes? Bloody good. Dr Nathan strangled the opportunity to meet and share a couple pints of Guinness with Larry the day before the premiere (which explains the lack of questions), and we cheerfully babbled away until director Glenn McQuaid and some of the Glass EyePix posse showed and it was time to pull the coffin cover closed…
Qe: The guys at Quiet Earth consider The Last Winter to be your magnum opus. We are wondering what you think of the film two years later. Have you changed your mind or do you still like it?
Lf: I am very loyal to my films. You know what they...
