CBS News hasn’t put the same kind of spotlight on weather as many of its rivals, but that may all be about to change as quickly as a shift in the wind.
The Paramount Global news unit is teaming with The Weather Channel to bring more reporting on weather and climate to CBS News programs including “CBS Mornings” and “The CBS Evening News,” as well as the division’s streaming efforts. Some of the most popular Weather Channel personalities — including Stephanie Abrams, Jim Cantore and Mike Bettes — are likely to turn up on CBS News programs in reports that originate from Weather Channel’s Atlanta headquarters. CBS viewers will also get to see augmented-reality technology that helps depict what a specific community might look like while in the midst of a tornado, snow or rain. The two media outlets will also team up to cover weather and climate news...

CBS News abruptly gave "The Early Show" a complete makeover Tuesday, replacing co-hosts Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and installing its current Saturday anchor team of Chris Wragge and Erica Hill. The network is also replacing weather forecaster Dave Price with Marysol Castro, formerly of ABC's "Good Morning America" weekend edition, and adding Jeff Glor as the regular news reader.

Erica Hill's star is rising fast at CBS. In an overhaul of the anchor team at The Early Show, which has been trailing the morning program competition, co-anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and weather anchor Dave Price are out. Hill, who joined The Early Show 10 months ago as news anchor of the weekday program and co-anchor of the weekend edition with Chris Wragge, will now co-anchor the weekday Early Show along with Wragge. Marysol Castro, formerly of ABC's Good Morning America weekend edition, has been tapped as the new weather anchor, while Jeff Glor will serve as news anchor. The changes will go in effect on Jan. 3. "The Early Show is an important element of CBS News," CBS News and Sports president McManus said. "We constantly focus on how to improve the broadcast, and we think we have a terrific combination in Erica, Chris, Jeff and Marysol." According to CBS News' release,...

Our deepest condolences go out to fans of of CBS' "The Early Show," because the morning news broadcast is getting a face-lift. Co-anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and weather forecaster Dave Price are out. So who are their replacements?
CBS is keeping it in the family, promoting Chris Wragge and Erica Hill from the Saturday "Early Show." Hill, who's the current news reader for the weekday show, will relinquish those duties to Jeff Glor, Saturday's "CBS Evening News" anchor and a reporter from "The Early Show." Finally, Marysol Castro, formerly of ABC's "Good Morning America" weekend edition, will take over weather.
"Erica, Chris, Marysol and Jeff are four accomplished broadcasters who already have proven track records and loyal followings," "Early Show" executive producer David Friedman says. "This group is the perfect combination of intelligence and personality for morning television."
"The Early Show" has been a perpetual third-place finisher in the network morning-show ratings,...
