Mere weeks after an expansion for the fourth instalment in the franchise — titled Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell – was revealed, creative director Steve Jaros has opted to leave Volition and explore new business ventures over at Valve. Jaros obviously played a crucial role in shaping the style and tone of the Saints Row series into the irreverent and idiosyncratic ball of chaotic fun that we know it as today, so it’ll be interesting which direction the franchise takes going forward.
It is also worth noting that Jaros had worked for Volition for ten years before making the decision to leave. He also left the following message on Twitter, which you can read below:
The past 10 years at Volition have been life changing. I’ve gotten to work with amazing people and made friends that will last a life time..

Deep Silver has announced a Season Pass and the first bit of downloadable content for Volition's exultantly juvenile "Saints Row IV": the previously canceled and apparently resurrected "Enter the Dominatrix" campaign.
"Enter the Dominatrix" was originally developed as a standalone expansion pack to "Saints Row: The Third" but was ultimately canceled. It would have introduced the alien abduction, virtual reality, and superhero plots that eventually got worked into "Saints Row IV."
Those events will presumably be covered in the early parts of "Saints Row IV," but "Dominatrix" will also offer a behind-the-scenes, "Director's Cut" look at how the Dlc was originally designed. Given the long road to release -- it was being developed during the early stages of former publisher Thq's implosion, after all -- it seems Volition is to poke a little fun at their own (or Jason Rubin's) expense.

The Oval Office with purple lighting? Looks like the Saints have taken the White House, or as they have renamed it, The White Crib. That is where my adventure began as President of the United States. I am taken on a sort of cinematic tour of the White Crib, and there are strippers, champagne, and a Tiger. What else would you expect from the Saints?
Humor is alive and well in the Saints Row universe. Steve Jaros, who wrote the first 3, came back for the fourth. My favorite quote from the demo was, "Tell my wife... I have another wife."
But let's get to the demo.
I am on my way to a press conference to address the people, but a few things hapen along the way. I'm asked by my Vice President Keith David, voiced by (you'll never guess) Keith David, which bill to pass because only one stands a chance in congress,...

Fans of the Third Street Saints who are worried about the recently-announced Saints Row IV skimping on on-disc content to beef up its Dlc list shouldn’t assume the worst, according to the game’s creative director at Volition, Steve Jaros. In a recent interview, when asked about how much content players should expect to see in the base game, this was his response:
“Size wise, the main story mission is about the same length. Open world content? **** ton more. Way more, it’s absurd. When you ask me what do you say to fans who are worried about there not being enough content on the disc, I say you’re not ready. You have no idea. The other day I was playing the build, I was supposed to be reviewing dialogue in different missions, right? I’m on this path, and I stop and go, ‘Oh, there’s this...

With the news that Saints Row IV would contain some of the “elements” from the canceled Saints Row The Third - Enter The Dominatrix standalone expansion, many fans have started to question if the upcoming sequel is actually its own game or something akin to a “Saints Row 3.5“. Volition has since clarified that work on Saints Row IV started “about two months” before SR3 was completed, and it was a whole other team that split off to develop Dominatrix.
“We had to go in and totally gut the [Enter The Dominatrix] story for Saints Row IV. Everything that was the missions or the story we did for Dominatrix was totally thrown out,” Volition’s creative director, Steve Jaros, told Joystiq at Pax. “All the voice recording that we did all thrown out. We redid the entire story. The game is mission wise the same length as Saints Row 3, plus other open worlds on top of it.
