the 97th General Army Hospital, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. His family
moved to Arizona until his his father was posted to Northern Virginia
where John grew up. After high school, John studied theater at Northern
Virginia Community College where he performed in several productions
including, Hamlet and culminating in his winning the lead of John
Proctor in the NOVA production of The Crucible. Through a friend, he
learned of a casting call for 'Terrance Malick's
The New World (2005). John drove to
Williamsburg, Virginia to audition but without a proper head-shot or
completed resume. Told to leave a summary of what he could contribute
to the production, he gave a brief description of his classical theater
background, prowess with the sword, and martial arts skills as well as,
proficiency with ancient firearms. The casting director called him in
immediately and cast him as an extra. Later he was called on to help
train other extras with the pike. During filming of
The New World (2005) John was also
cast as a clerk in another production
No Retreat from Destiny: The Battle That Rescued Washington (2006).
Impressed with his performance, the director asked him to come to
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where he would give him a larger role instead
of the simple part of a clerk, but John had to turn it down due to his
commitment to Malick's film. John's desire is to play eccentric and
complex, three-dimensional characters. He is known for his devotion to
any project to which he commits. He continues to work on many projects
and has been cast in various roles in television and film productions.
He is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles,
California.
