The latest act in the very public unraveling of Johnny Depp began last week in a courtroom in northern Virginia, pulling back the curtain on the secretive world of celebrity enablers and hangers-on.
Depp is suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for 50 million for describing herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” in a 2018 Washington Post opinion piece. That revived allegations she made when the couple divorced in 2016 — about which they had each promised to remain silent — and in Depp’s view the public characterization could not go unchallenged.
But after Depp lost a similar case in London in 2020, his public reputation — and career — are in tatters. He has not appeared in a major studio film since “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” in 2018, although he has starred in smaller indies such as “Minamata.” Relitigating these issues, which entails resurfacing text messages in which he called Heard a “c—” and fantasized about her “rotting corpse,...

Entertainment One will release the 2009 science fiction-horror movie Bio-Dead on DVD on July 26 for a list price of $24.98.
Hazmat suits are the uniform of the day in Bio-Dead.
Touted by its distributor as “Resident Evil meets Alien,” Bio-Dead zeroes in on the aftermath of a biological disaster in Southern California that’s contaminated some 4000 square miles, turning it into a wasteland known as “The Zone.” A grisly tomb for 12 million infected corpses, it’s also home to a vicious predator that has even nastier plans in store for the rest of the human race. Pity the poor hazmat team that enters a seemingly uninhabited structure in the middle of “The Zone” in search of survivors…
Written and directed by Stephen J. Hadden and starring Matthew Norton, Derek Long and Tony Williams, the film premiered as a Video-on-Demand title in August, 2009.
Bonus features on the DVD include the following:

Nick Green is a government operative, part of an elite, covert force of 64 highly trained U.S. military personnel. He's a deadly assassin with an appreciation for blondes and a dislike for their overprotective boyfriends. And he's a junior in high school. Green must carefully balance innate, 17-year-old hormones and teenage drama while executing his hits. So goes the premise for Aim High, a web series from executive producer Peter Murrietta, producer McG, creators Heath Corson and Richie Keen, and financiers Warner Premiere and Dolphin Entertainment. The program - which is one of three upcoming online originals from Warner Bros. short-form digital content arm - just announced its cast list will feature a number of actors popular with the teenybopper crowd. Jackson Rathbone (Jackson Hale in the Twilight Saga) will take on the role of Green. Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor on Friday Night Lights) will play the object of Green's affections,...

If you have Netflix have you been using their instant watch service? It's obviously both the future and way too empty calorie addictive. It's like Fast Food Movies. So many films available right that very second. Just click a button. Even if you're only mildly curious about something... why not? You've already paid the subscription free.
Surgeon Bill Matthews (Derek Long) loves that static electricity
I recently sat through an entire movie, Socket (2007), about a man who survives a lightning strike and gets seriously addicted to electricity, but sitting through an entire movie is not the norm. Usually instant watch encourages quick perusals and scan-throughs... which is nothing like a real movie experience. It's more like channel surfing on only one channel until you realize "yeah, this movie is not for me." Then you change channels and start over. But you might be fooling yourself because that's no way to watch a movie.

Bio-Dead is a Time Warner Video-On-Demand selection for 2009 and the film blends science fiction with horror, in a grotesque fashion. A film with a claustrophobic feel, Bio-Dead offers a good time, but skimps on the size of cast and settings. A second film for director Stephen J. Hadden, fans can check this film out if you feel you can handle the gore!
The plot is simple, direct and revolves around four workers who must investigate the contaminated "Zone." The story takes place after a bio-terrorist attack in southern California. Millions are dead and a corporation has been given the green light to find survivors, retrieve bodies, and generally clean up the "Zone." However, things get complicated when a supposed safe area turns out to be a haven for the genetically mutated. Can this team of four bio-hazard workers (Tony Williams, Jacob Gentry,...

He also passed on a couple of new exclusive pics, which you can see below.
Bio-dead, which was produced by Manfred Drews II and stars Socket’s Derek Long, Matthew C. Norton, Tony Williams (first photo), Rick Hall and Jacob W. If his career keeps moving in the same direction, Matthew Montgomery may end up being the gay Parker Posey. Having played leads in at least seven independent features in just five years, plus another handful of supporting roles, he has established his indie street cred at a time when gay cinema seems to be exploding. Fans of gay cinema will probably remember Montgomery from Gone, But Not Forgotten, Long-term Relationship and the supernatural-tinged Back Soon.

Writer/director Stephen J. Hadden sent along the exclusive makeup FX photo seen below and some info on his new fright feature Bio-dead. The pic features actor Derek Long, recently seen in Socket, in the midst of a sequence in which prosthetics “were applied to his face and torso to simulate knife wounds, burns and a gouged-out eye,” Hadden tells us.
Long stars in Bio-dead as Benson, leader of a hazmat team sent to search for survivors after terrorists unleash a lethal toxic weapon into the atmosphere over Southern California. Deep within the uninhabitable region known as “The Zone,” they come across what appears to be an empty building, but after venturing inside, they soon find themselves being stalked by a vicious predator, while suffering from frightening hallucinations.
“Bio-dead was inspired by my love for postapocalyptic cinema, especially the films made by the Italians in the early 1980s,” Hadden says.
