For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the horror reality special “Can You Survive a Horror Movie?” which aired on Chiller TV for Friday the 13th in July 2012.
By the early aughts, the horror cable network Chiller TV had reached the point to where they were trotting out their own original series’ and movies. Among them was their heavily advertised attempt at a reality series entitled “Can You Survive a Horror Movie?” The premise of the one off special was essentially “Fear Factor” and “Mythbusters” mixed with a hard shot of horror. The hosts would not only test certain situations in the horror genre, but also partook in “challenges” related to horror movies. It didn’t actually dissect the genre, or bring it down to reality as much as, say, “The Zombie Survival Guide.” Instead, it was unabashedly a horror reality show.

Stars: Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Grant Bowler, Tawny Cypress, Anthony Marks, Evalena Marie, Bobby Rice | Written by John Doolan | Directed by Colin Theys
Ok, so colour me surprised. I’ll admit I had no real idea what Remains was when I was sent it to review, to me it looked like it could be an interesting zombie movie. Little did I know it was based on the comic of the same name by Steve Niles, the genius behind 30 Days of Night. Turning his hand from vampire lore to zombie tale, with the comic Niles once again manages to create a refreshing new take on a oft-told and familiar story; and the same applies to this movie which was made by, and originally aired on, the Chiller cable network in the Us.

What is it about the zombie genre that's made it such a durable horror favorite? Why are the undead so much more accessible than Freddie or Jason or any of the other iconic villains?
Obviously it's because, unless we're nubile virgins, we don't stand a chance of escaping those monsters with our jugulars intact. But zombies are a different story. Deep down, we all believe that we can survive the Zombie Apocalypse, no matter how slutty we are, as long as we can run ... and wield a sawed-off shotgun.
The Chiller Network's entry in the zombie genre premieres tonight, with the adaptation of the graphic novel Remains, by Steve Niles (who's best known for 30 Days Of Night).
So what does Remains have that sets it apart? It's certainly not production values (it's on par with a Syfy Original Movie), or story (four survivors in a Reno casino try to keep...

Year: 2009Director: Frank SabatellaCast: Daniel Harris, Bill Moseley, Nate Dushku, Alissa Dean, Anthony Marks, Samantha Facchi
A group of high school friends celebrating Blood Night, the anniversary of the death of a local axe murderer endearingly know as Mary Hatchet, get more than they bargained for when, after attempting to conjure her spirit with a Ouija board, they begin to meet their brutal and blood soaked deaths. Is it really Mary Hatchet's spirit or something far more unexpected and sinister?
If glowing, exemplary reviews could be awarded simply for good intentions, then Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet deserves them in droves because it is obvious that the individuals involved with the making of the film had a passion for what they were doing and were attempting to make more than a dull slasher film. But as the old cliche goes, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions,...

The creators of Blood Night: The Legend Of Mary Hatchet sent along word that the official website for the grisly new indie feature has gotten an upgrade. They also passed on a couple of exclusive new pics you can see below the cut.
The enhanced site, which can be seen here, “is a cool and creepy place with tons of info, photos and even an awesome ‘Escape from the Asylum’ game,” Blood Night director Frank Sabatella tells Fango. “There’s a bunch of great downloads, some awesome videos and even a chance to win prizes! Indie director Gregory Caiafa got in touch to let us know about Intruder, the premiere production from his Red Circle Movies outfit, and pass on a few exclusive images. Described by Caiafa as “a dark character study and homage to ’80s slasher films,” the movie shot last October in Copake, NY, with pick-ups completed this past July.
“Intruder was made with a little money and a lot of love, not to mention some solid collaborators,” Caiafa tells Fango, before offering the following synopsis: “October 31 is the scariest night of the year for everyone in Hobb’s Ferry…except Lila. For her, each day is just a little more frightening than the day prior. Lila is a paranoid schizophrenic, and after a year in a mental hospital, her boyfriend has taken her to his quiet family estate to spend the darkest holiday.
