SXSW organizers on Monday announced the Audience Award winners for the festival’s recently wrapped 31st edition.
The list includes Tracie Laymon’s dramedy Bob Trevino Likes It, which prevailed in Narrative Feature Competition, and the action thriller Monkey Man marking Dev Patel’s directorial debut, which dominated the Headliner section. Other notable winners included A24’s Sing Sing starring Colman Domingo, which won out in Festival Favorite, and Kyle Hausmann-Stokes’ dark veteran dramedy My Dead Friend Zoe, starring Sonequa Martin-Green, Natalie Morales and Ed Harris, which won in Narrative Spotlight.

The South by Southwest Film & TV Festival has announced the 2024 Jury and Special Award winners.

The SXSW Film & TV Festival said Wednesday that Universal’s The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling will serve as the 2024 edition’s Centerpiece film, and Netflix’s 3 Body Problem from David Benioff, D. B. Weiss and Alexander Woo will open the fest’s opening-night TV premiere.

The 2024 SXSW Film and TV Festival has announced its lineup, with Netflix’s splashy sci-fi series 3 Body Problem opening the fest and the Ryan Gosling and Emily Bunt action comedy The Fall Guy acting as a centerpiece screening.

“Bob Trevino Likes It” has wrapped production in Louisville, Ky. and has unveiled its first official photo. Myriad Pictures has acquired worldwide sales rights and will launch sales out of Toronto in September. The film is one of the first independent productions to be approved for a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement during the actors strike.

Brainstorm Media has acquired North American rights to Alistair Banks Griffin’s thriller The Wolf Hour, which has also sold around the world for HanWay Films.
The Sundance debut stars Naomi Watts together with Jennifer Ehle, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Emory Cohen, Brennan Brown, and Jeremy Bobb. Watts also executive produced.
Set against the ‘Summer of Sam’, the film charts the story of a once well-known, now reclusive writer caught up in the tension of late 1970s New York. The deal was negotiated between Brainstorm and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers together with HanWay. Brainstorm will release theatrically in fall 2019.
HanWay has also closed deals with Odeon (Greece), Nos Lusomundo (Portugal), Fabula (Turkey), Discovery (Former Yugoslavia), DDDream (China), Klockworx (Japan), Shaw (Singapore), Cinesky (airlines / ships) and Uphe Content Group.

The 2014 Producing Lab is supported by lead funder Time Warner Foundation with additional funding from the Alfred P Sloan Foundation and National Endowment For The Arts.
The 2014 Producing Lab filmmakers and projects are: 37, Mollye Asher; The Buried Life, Summer Shelton; Commerce, Steven Berger; Dara Ju (Better), Justin Begnaud; Lord Of Vinyl, Dennis Bartok, Joanna Colbert; Operator, Felipe Dieppa; Shale, Traci Carlson; and Slash, Brock Williams.

The market will welcome approximately 90 sellers and 283 buyers from more than 50 countries.
Attending sellers will include The Match Factory, Beta Cinema, Wild Bunch, Gaumont, Le Pacte, EuropaCorp, HanWay, WestEnd and Bankside.
Buyers include TWC, Magnolia, Film Movement, Memento, Senator, Soda, A Contracorriente, Metropole and Cineart as well as Asian buyers from Hong Kong, South Korea, China, Japan and Australia.
“This year we are looking at 20-25% year-on-year growth,” confirmed Business Street head Massimo Saidel. “By the end of July we were having to turn people away.”
