Texas church massacre survivor John Holcombe and his pregnant wife, Crystal Holcombe, had already picked out a name for the unborn child who — along with Crystal and two dozen others — was killed when a gunman opened fire on a Sunday morning service.
On Facebook, John wrote that though the couple did not know if the child was a boy or a girl, they had planned to name it “Carlin Brite ‘Billy Bob’ Holcombe.”
“This includes Crystal’s pick for a girl, a boy, and the nickname the kids gave the baby,” he wrote.

Crystal Holcombe, a devoted mother who was reportedly eight months pregnant with her sixth child, had high hopes for her family’s future when she went to church on Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Widowed and left with five children in 2011, Crystal, 36, had met John Holcombe at the church, where he taught Sunday school and managed the audio system. They married in 2012.
United in their faith and love of family, they forged a happy new life together. It was about to become even richer because they were expecting their first child together next month.

Arsenal have rejected claims that Stan Kroenke is willing to sell his majority stake in the London based club, despite reports that a takeover worth a staggering £1.5 billion was on the cards.
Rumours were circulating yesterday that Arsenal could have been taken over in the next few weeks from a Middle East consortium, similar to the Manchester City takeover back in 2008. A £1.5bn takeover would likely provide more funds to rebuild the team and help the club fight off the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton and Chelsea in the annual race for Champions League places.
Dreams of David Villa and Edinson Cavani were soon suppressed however when Arsenal’s Director of Communications, Mark Gonnella told BBC Sport:
“Mr Kroenke is committed to Arsenal Fc for the long term and has no intention of selling.”
He continued:
“There has been no contact from any consortium regarding a takeover.”

According to the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger are set to sensationally resist all offers to take want-away Dutch striker Robin van Persie away from the club this summer, and make him stay at the Emirates until the January transfer window opens. This comes as there is supposedly a growing feeling at Arsenal that the club needs to make a stand after seeing several key players leave the club in the past few years against the will of the board and manager.
The Star are suggesting that a refusal to sell Van Persie now on his own terms, after he dug his feet in over his future and publically announced that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract would send a strong message to fans that it simply would not be tolerating like behaviour anymore.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood insists that the Gunners have not yet received any offers for captain Robin Van Persie.
Reports from the Italian media earlier in the week claimed that Italian champions Juventus had made a low-ball £8 million offer to try and unsettle the Euro 2012 star, with another improved bid expected to come later this week.
28-year-old Van Persie has just one year left to run on his contract and would be able to agree a pre-contract free transfer to any club from January. Despite the fear of losing him for nothing, Hill-Wood insists that the striker is not for sale.
Hill-Wood said:
“As far as I am aware nobody has made any offer for him and he is away so we are not in any dialogue at all.
“We’re not in the remotest bit interested in selling him.”
Of course Arsenal said the exact same thing last...

Heading into its 18th year in 2011, the Chicago Underground Film Festival is the longest-running underground film festival in the world. It used to be tied with the New York Underground Film Festival — both were started in 1994 — until Nyuff closed up shop in 2008.
In 1994, the Internet wasn’t the big promotional tool it is today so neither Nyuff nor Cuff that year had a website; or, if they did, those pages have since vanished off the web. So, details about what these fests screened in their first years have been sketchy. Well, until now for Cuff.
I’m not sure how I stumbled upon it, but I recently discovered that the alternative newsweekly the Chicago Reader had posted up the entire, full lineup of the first annual Chicago Underground Film Festival.
So, I copied that info and reformatted it into the style of Bad Lit’s traditional film festival lineups, which...
