Week 2 taught us that celebrity carnage didn't bring us the happiness we expected, but Week 3 reveals that it certainly makes for compelling TV.
We're already at the halfway mark on "Skating With the Stars," and it's clearly taking its toll on the cast.
Brandon Mychal Smith left rehearsals in an ambulance earlier on show day, right around the time Jonny Moseley's partner Brooke Castile took a skate to the hand, slicing her finger to the bone.
ABC made us sweat out the episode to see if Smith would make it back in time to perform (he didn't), while Castile, in a show of super trooper-dom, skated with her hand in a brace.
So what do we with our stars in stitches and slings? Make 'em jump! The Week 3 challenge requires a leap from the ice and a one-foot landing. Let's see who was up to the task.

We'd been waiting and waiting for the carnage to begin on "Skating With the Stars," and when it finally did... it left us feeling empty inside.
Other people's misfortunes normally give us such pleasure, but there was no laughing at Sean Young or Vince Neil when they came crashing down on their famous behinds in this second round of "Swts."
So what did we learn this week aside from the fact that we just might have a soul? Well, for one, this show is markedly more entertaining now that they've ripped off the broadcast band-aid. Once it became clear that collective skepticism couldn't cause the studio to burst into flames, everyone seemed a lot more comfortable the second time around -- including Mr. Dick Button, whose mixed metaphors make us wish we could adopt him from the grandpa orphanage.

Skating With the Stars debuted last night, and although British host Vernon Kay (no Tom Bergeron) did his best to repeatedly assure us that this was the most dangerous live competition on TV — “The performances will be just as explosive, the costumes even tinier, but there is an added element of danger — razor-sharp blades of steel strapped to the feet of six very nervous stars!” — no one even fell during their debut performances. At least we got some serious spills in the training montages. (Vince Neil fell more than all the other contestants combined, we were told.) After all, Kay promised,...

"Skating With the Stars" premieres on Nov. 22, and though ABC is keeping mum about the judges' panel, they've revealed 8 key players in the upcoming freshman season.
Team USA's all-time winningest ice dancer, Tanith Belbin, brings her expertise as color commentator, and British TV personality Vernon Kay will host. (For those not familiar with Kay, he's basically the male version of Cat Deeley).
As for the six professional skaters who've already been training with their celebrity partners, here they are:
Ethan Burgess and Bethenny Frankel: Burgess took bronze and pewter medals at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships 2004 and 2005 in pairs before playing Jon Heder's stunt double in "Blades of Glory."
Brooke Castile and Jonny Moseley: Castile took home the U.S. pairs title in 2007.
Keauna McLaughlin and Brandon Mychal Smith: McLaughlin won the same medals as Burgess, as the two used to be partners. She now competes,...

Okay, it’s easy to look at the roster of “pros” on ABC’s Skating With the Stars and dismiss them. But ask yourself this: How many of the pros’ names did you recognize on Dancing With the Stars that first season? It’s just because you — especially those who enjoy PopWatch on Ice coverage — can actually rattle off some famous figure skaters that you’re questioning these pros’ abilities before even seeing them in action. (That was a tougher spin than a Biellmann!) Here are the pairings. The show premieres Nov. 22.

For almost a year, Charlie White and Tanith Belbin put their love on ice in the name of competition. But with the arrival of spring, love is blooming for the Olympic skating rivals. "We were apart all year. Now, the best thing is being able to see Charlie every day and wake up next to him in the morning," Belbin tells People. White, 22, and Belbin, 25, competed on rival ice-dancing teams - he with Meryl Davis, she with Ben Agosto - all season long, including at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. They kept their union on "the lowdown" to minimize distractions,...

Olympian Johnny Weir is keeping his rivalry with Evan Lysacek off the dance floor.
The "Be Good Johnny Weir" star had only supportive things to say about the Winter Olympics gold medal winner, who joins the 10th season of "Dancing With the Stars."
"He'll be great on 'Dancing With the Stars' because he works that hard," Weir told Zap2it in an interview at The London Hotel in West Hollywood Friday (March 5). "He'll make himself pretty."
But does that mean Weir thinks Lysacek will win the coveted disco ball trophy? Well ... not exactly.
Check out what Weir had to say about Lysacek and who he thinks will be crowned the dancing king/queen:
We hope you're right, Johnny!
"Be Good Johnny Weir" airs Monday nights on the Sundance Channel, and "Dancing With the Stars" begins Season 10 on Monday, March 22 on ABC.

Johnny Weir wowed the 2010 Winter Olympics with his short figure skating routine, partly due to his skilled performance, partly due to that saucy pink tassel.
The pop star on ice will take that style to the red carpet at the 25th Annual Spirit Awards Friday night (March 5) to represent the Sundance Channel, which airs his reality show "Be Good Johnny Weir."
In an interview with Zap2it, Weir revealed that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe helped put together his Viktor & Rolf outfit consisting of a casual skinny jean and "some bling." Sounds great, but no unitard?
Weir's been studying up on his film stars as well, so he can ID everyone on the carpet. Sir Elton John, however, won't need any introduction, and Weir has a special greeting in store for the legendary musician.
The reality star also discussed what he'll be wearing to the Oscars, his definition of "meggings" and...

There's no arguing that Johnny Weir has style.
He takes it to the ice with his costumes and if you watch his reality show, "Be Good Johnny Weir" on the Sundance Channel, you'd know that his style extends itself to the every day, as well.
"You could totally express who you are," Weir tells Zap2it. "And the way you think and the mood you're in by what you put on your back. I love that."
For Weir, the transition from figure skating to fashion is an obvious one.
"I feel like skating is an art form and fashion is an art form," he says. "Naturally, so many skaters are into fashion and we wear costumes and glitter and makeup and hair. Everything is always done. It's natural to be involved in some way in the fashion world and I just grew to love it as a collector."

If you don't get ice dancing, please watch the gold medal-winning performance from Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. It will erase all memories of Sunday's occasionally ridiculous original dances. Theirs was by far the best free dance of the night. ("Free dance" means the skaters can use any music, as long as it has a beat.) It had emotion, speed, stunning lifts, perfect unison on the twizzles (I've accepted that I'm now someone who applauds "twizzles"), and above all, the feel that they were actually dancing on ice. So many of the pairs, including Russia's Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (3rd,...

Johnny Weir may have finished sixth in the men's figure skating finals, but the 25-year-old skater is still a hot topic at the 2010 Olympic Games.
The Associated Press reports that two broadcasters are under fire for derogatory comments made about the former world champion.
One commentator from French-language broadcaster Rds said Weir hurts figure skating's image, while another said the skater should be made to take a gender test. The Quebec Gay and Lesbian Council has demanded a public apology from Rds, calling the remarks "outrageous" and "homophobic."
Weir's agent, Tara Modlin, says Weir knows about the comments, but he's made no public response as of yet.
The Dish Rag thinks the much buzzed-about skater will most likely ignore the nasty comments and forge ahead with his plans to start his own fashion line (much to the French commentators' dismay, we're guessing) after the Olympics wrap up.

The "folk/country dance" theme for ice dancing's second night of competition was just asking for trouble. Teams not wanting to play it safe by doing a style representative of their own country — or mainstream, like Spanish Flamenco or Indian — were going to get "creative." The best they could hope for was viewers tuning in and thinking they were watching that scene in The Cutting Edge when the pairs team got tripped up in the lederhosen; the worst would be if viewers stumbled upon the "aboriginal" original dance from Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left...

Will his Olympic gold medal be a chick magnet for Evan Lysacek? It doesn't matter -- his girlfriend Nastia Liukin has one of her own.
The pair has confirmed to People that they are indeed an item. Lysacek and Liukin have been dating since last summer, though they met in the fall of 2008 while performing for the Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular NBC special.
Liukin has been in Vancouver this past week to cheer Lysacek on in his quest for a gold medal in men's figure skating -- a goal he accomplished on Thursday, Feb. 18. Liukin took home her own Olympic medals in women's gymnastics at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. Liukin won the gold in women's all-around, a silver in the team competition, balance beam, uneven bars and a bronze on the floor exercise.
That's a lot of Olympic hardware. If they end up together for good ... no pressure on their kids or anything.

How many more ice dancing costumes can you stand? The Olympics are counting on more, lots more.
Monday (Feb. 22) will bring the conclusion of ice dancing in primetime, in addition to less frou-frou activities like ski jumping.
Also, if you thought that U.S. vs. Canada hockey game was intense, Team USA will go up against Canada yet again, but this time in curling during the daytime.
Hockey fans needing a little more aggression in their sports can also check out the women's hockey matches that head to the semifinal rounds.
Monday's highlights:
NBC
Daytime: Men's and women's cross country team sprints enter the semifinals in Whistler from 3-5 p.m. Et/Pt.
Primetime: From 8 p.m.-midnight Et/Pt, ice dancing comes to a close with Meryl Davis & Charlie White and Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto hoping to medal for the United States. Also, freestyle skiing and ski jumping will get coverage during this block.

On Sunday (Feb. 21), the Olympics debuts a new sport to the games: Ski cross. Similar to snowboard cross, ski cross challenges athletes to traverse a rugged course with varying terrain for time. Also, ice dancing will return as well as the men's 15k biathlon, men's super-g and women's speed skating.
Team sports will be well represented with more curling and hockey.
Sunday's highlights:
NBC
Daytime: The ski cross begins at noon Et/Pt, leading into the men's biathlon at 1:30 p.m. Et/Pt. At 3 p.m. Et/Pt, men's hockey begins when the Czech Republic takes on Russia.
Primetime: Live coverage (Et/Ct) of ice dancing as Tanith Belbin and partner Ben Agosto continue to nab a place on the podium. Also, a nice mixture of men's super-g, men's ski cross, women's speed skating and bobsled, all from 7-10 p.m. Et/Pt.
Late night: From 11:30 p.m-12:30 a.

Ice dancing got underway Friday night in Vancouver with the U.S. hoping one of its two top teams will end the Russian domination of the sport and bring America its first gold medal in the discipline. If you tuned in for the compulsory dance — in which each couple skated the same Tango Romantica so they could be judged on technique head-to-head — you may have thought you were watching a costume contest (the quality of skating seemed so similar) until you caught a glimpse of Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left). Men's figure skating was a nail-biter Thursday night (Feb. 18) as Evan Lysacek waited to see if one of the best performances of his career would be good enough to win him the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
It was.
Lysacek, wearing an all-black outfit accented by a raised sparkling snake decoration encircling his neck, was very much like a snake himself, coiling very deliberately before every major technical element was executed ... and then landing them on sure feet.
By the end of the program, Lysacek showed the crowed just how proud he was for nailing the program, face grimacing with emotion and fist raised and pumped during spins and glides.
The champ had to wait through all the rest of the programs, however, to discover his fate since his biggest competition, Yevgeny Plushenko, who was previously in the lead after the men's short program, skated last in the free skate.

Evan Lysacek has turned into one of the stars of the Vancouver Olympics. On Thursday, the 2009 World Champion goes for gold in men's figure skating. Here are five things you don't know about the athlete: 1. Lysacek, 24, has always been a self-described "daredevil." He says, "I loved to go fast" - and he always has. At about age 6, he sped on his bike down a hill near his home in Naperville, Ill., fell and needed stitches to the head. He started skating at 8. 2. He used to date Tanith Belbin, part of the U.S. Olympic ice dancing team. She's rooming in...
