Julian Lennon shares many traits with his dad, John Lennon. For one, he looks strikingly similar to his father. While his half brother, Sean Ono Lennon, admits he lives off The Beatles’ money his dad earned, Julian has also enjoyed a fruitful music career of his own, partly out of necessity. He missed out on millions of dollars when he was cut out of his dad’s will. Though he showed respect for his father’s music, Lennon revealed his favorite album isn’t a Beatles record or solo John album.
Julian Lennon | Frans Schellekens/Redferns Julian Lennon’s favorite album is an English electronica record, not a Beatles or John Lennon release
Lennon showed plenty of love for his dad and The Beatles when talking to Goldmine Magazine about his favorite albums. He said John’s Walls and Bridges album from 1974 was a highlight. Lennon had the chance to...

Wonder Woman herself is about to bless my unborn child. "Can I?" she asks, before spreading her long fingers around my pregnant belly. Her hands feel warm and maternal. She holds my gaze, unwavering. "Girl or boy?" she asks. "Girl," I tell her. Her smile widens. "Being a woman is a strength," she says. "In so many ways."

Australian pop icon says she was inspired to make the move after winning plaudits and a Grammy nomination for the Chandelier promo last year
Australian singer-songwriter Sia is take the director’s chair for her first film, she has revealed in the Hollywood Reporter.
The sometime Zero 7 vocalist was inspired to make the move after taking charge of the cameras on the acclaimed video for Chandelier, her 2014 single, nominated in December for a Grammy for best music video. The film will once again feature 12-year-old dancer Maddie Ziegler, who played a young version of Sia in the promo.

Sia has had more success as a guest on other artists' records-- such as David Guetta’s “Titanium” and Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” or during her stint with Zero 7 on tunes like “Destiny” --than as a solo artist, but with “Chandelier,” the first single from “1000 Forms of Fear,” out tomorrow (8), the Australian singer/songwriter is finally breaking out as a pop star on her own. “Chandelier” reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, in large part driven by its compelling video featuring 11-year old dancer Maddie Ziegler. Though Sia has had several strong songs on her previous albums, “Chandelier” is her first bona-fide hit as a solo artist. The good news is there’s plenty more on “Fear,” produced by Greg Kurstin, to continue that path, even if there is nothing that’s quite as striking as “Chandelier,” a tune that sounds similar to Rihanna’s “Diamonds”—a...

“Ghost Stories” is Chris Martin’s equivalent of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours,” Bob Dylan’s “Blood On the Tracks,” or Bruce Springsteen’s “Tunnel Of Love.” No, I’m not suggesting that Coldplay’s latest, out this week, will have a similar endurance or that it packs a gut punch like these three seminal albums, only that it is the latest in the pantheon of albums chronicling the breakup of a long term marriage or relationship where the artist lays himself/herself bare. “I just got broken, broken into two,” Martin sings on the lilting “Magic.” And yet, as he goes on to sing on one of the album’s strongest tracks, the Edm-influenced, soaring “A Sky Full of Stars,” featuring Avicii, “I don’t care if you tear me apart,” because his ex-love is so radiant that being in her orbit is enough to warrant any pain. Even “Magic” ends on an up note.

Sia, who penned “Diamonds,” released her new song, “Chandelier” today. If you liked Sia for her quirky solo material or for her vocals with Zero 7, this is a whole different kettle of fish. Her voice is heavily processed on the verses as she does her best Rihanna imitation. Her voice soars on the choruses, but she sounds like she’s straining, not displaying the ease she did as lead vocalists on David Guetta’s “Titanium.” Sia co-wrote the song, which is about living in the moment and getting blotto enough that you swing from the lighting fixtures, initially thinking it would be a good fit for Rihanna, Beyonce or Katy Perry or so she told Ryan Seacrest, according to MTV. But she decided to keep it for herself. You can’t blame her for wanting to score her own big hit with her name as lead artist given her...

Bo Bruce undoubtably made an impression on viewers of 'The Voice' last year.
The waif-like singer, with Danny O'Donaghue coaching her, made it to the finals of the first UK series of the contest, impressing fans with her distinctive sound, simultaneously fragile but rocky, on tracks including 'Without You', 'Charlie Brown' and 'Read All About It'.
Bo Bruce could emerge the real victor of The Voice, with a new single and album on their way
And viewers were also moved as she continued to take part, despite the fading health of her mother. As she was brought to tears in some of her rehearsals, viewers heard Danny comfort her, realising, "This is hard for you, isn't it?" Bo's mother has since died.

You don’t have to throw out Little Feat to make room for Fleet Foxes
Google “ways to discover new music” and no less than 89,800,000 results pop up. Tons of websites, blogs, radio stations broadcasting the old-fashioned way and streamlining online, not to mention music sites like Spotify and Radio Paradise are dedicated to the proposition that all people deserve to discover new tunes.
So why are so many of our needles stuck in the “classic rock” groove, playing the same albums since 1992 -- or 1968? Not that there’s anything wrong with continuing to cherish the music we grew up with. For our generation, it would be hard not to: Some of the most enduring music (at least rock, soul, jazz and blues) was made when we were coming of age. But what I find frustrating is the misbegotten mindset that nothing new is worth listening to.

Even though it's still without a domestic release date, we're looking forward to the upcoming rom-com "I Give It A Year," that looks like a fresh and funny take on a familiar concept. To refresh your memory, the film, which stars Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall, Simon Baker, Stephen Merchant, Minnie Driver, and Anna Faris, tells the story of a newlywed couple who, soon after getting hitched, have their bond tested. And us the movie gears up to open overseas, we get another look at the soundtrack details that have dropped. A pretty decent line up of artists, "I Give It A Year" kicks things off with rising U.K. artist Jessie Ware who delivers a cover of Stephanie Mills' "Never Knew Love Like This Before" (at least we think so). Also featured are hot dancefloor acts Tinie Tempah and Dizzee Rascal, electronic vets Zero 7 and DJ Shadow, and folks like Snow Patrol,...

Ne-Yo has praised singer-songwriter Sia Furler. The Australian musician was responsible for a number of chart hits in 2012, including Rihanna's 'Diamonds', Flo Rida's 'Wild Ones' and David Guetta's 'Titanium'. "For me personally, I've been a fan of Sia for a long time," Ne-Yo told MTV. "From Zero 7 to Some People Have Real Problems, these are her albums and people that she worked with before she got popular, so to speak. "She's been incredible for a long time. Her mastery of melody, from just the way that she works, her words and phrases, it's been incredible. And people are (more)...

It is not every day that we come across bands that remind us of why we fell in love with music. We grew up listening to the psychedelic sounds of The Dandy Warhols, Zero 7 and The Shins. The beauty that is exuded from these 90s bands, both instrumentally and vocally, is largely non-existent in the auto-tone society we live in today. Despite this “factual” statement, we will not spend anymore time discussing the musical negativity of the 21st Century because we have found a band that has resurrected the 90s traits we have been missing since our teenage years. So, there is hope that the whimsical sounds of the...

Think about that first mixtape you made for someone you cared about. What was on it? What wasn't? How many hours did you spend coming up with the perfect songs, in the perfect order, parsing the collection with chemist-like precision to make sure there were no subconscious errors or possibilities for misinterpretation?
Defining love musically has never been easy, but the team behind the soundtrack for "Crazy, Stupid, Love." offer their attempt: electronic music and neo-folk singer-songwriters.
Aside from the occasional forays into classic R&B (Doris Troy's "Just One Look") and modern funk (The Bamboos' "On the Sly"), downtempo groups and acoustic male singers dominate the album. Thievery Corporation, seemingly included on one out of every two indie film soundtracks these days, makes two appearances with "The Numbers Game" off 2008's "Radio Retaliation" (featuring go-go pioneer Chuck Brown) and "The Heart's a Lonely Hunter" off 2005's "The Cosmic Game.

It should come as no surprise that, with the exceptions of sex, alcohol, and stabbing Rob Schneider, I spend most of my time thinking about movies and music. Obsessively so, in fact, and one of the things that I'm constantly thinking about is how music is chosen for film soundtracks. I was once fascinated by soundtracks, though I think it's becoming something of a lost art. The days of truly brilliant soundtracks (I'm talking songs, not scores) are fading, but that doesn't stop me from constantly listening to music and thinking about whether or not I'd use that song in a movie, and if I did, what scene would I use it for?
I think we can all agree that the "Hotel California" scene in The Big Lebowski may well be the greatest soundtrack moment in the history of film. This is the model I'd choose to emulate. How to...

Here's the trailer for Red Riding Hood, a retelling of the classic fairy tale with a fairly solid cast -- Amanda Seyfried, Virginia Madsen, Julie Christie and Gary Oldman stand out, and it also stars Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl), Lukas Haas, and Billy Burke (the Twilight films).
There are moments where I kind of liked it, perhaps because they swapped out the music of wanna-be Zero 7 band Fever Ray (which they used in the first trailer) for Nine Inch Nails. Or perhaps it's because Oldman looks like he's going to be a hell of a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, it also looks awfully Twilight-y, and that's likely because it's directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who directed (wait for it) Twilight.
This does not bode well.
Seyfried looks way too wide-eyed and breathless and pouty, and the romance angle is way too, well, again... Twilight-y. It isn't rated yet, but it's...

The contenders for Best Electronic/Dance Album at this year's Grammy Awards are, as usual, a mix of dance/pop favorites and club veterans. Since this category was created in 2004, it has been won by The Chemical Brothers twice as well as Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Madonna and reigning champ Lady Gaga. Nominees have included an impressive list of heavyweights: The Crystal Method, David Guetta, Robyn, Moby, Kylie Minogue, LCD Soundsystem, Justice, Paul Oakenfold, Goldfrapp, Zero 7, Kraftwerk and The Prodigy. This year's eligible submissions are relatively light on well-known hits from the past year -- Lady Gaga did not enter "The Fame Monster" for instance -- and many entries are generic compilations, a subgenre of dance music releases yet to earn a single nomination. The likeliest contenders are "Further" from The Chemical Brothers; "La Roux" by British indie sensation (and possible Best New Artist nominee) La Roux; "Fleshtone" b.

Australian singer Sia Furler is having second thoughts about quitting music after discovering a thyroid condition is to blame for her constantly feeling sluggish and lazy. The singer vowed to quit music following the June release of her fourth record, "We Are Born", insisting she was tired of life in the spotlight and wanted a "normal job".
But the star, who has collaborated with artists including Christina Aguilera, Zero 7 and Beck, is reconsidering her plans for the future after learning an underactive thyroid has caused her to lose the motivation to make new records. She tells New York Magazine, "It's a relief. I realized I'm not lazy and I'm a nice person. Maybe, I'm not mental!"
Sia will be coming to the States as part of Lilith Fair Festival on August 8 in Atlanta, Georgia and the rest of the dates.

Sia is releasing "We Are Born," her very first album of uptempo, clap-along tracks like the first singles "You've Changed" and "Clap Your Hands." But she's still being asked to deliver the ballads she's known for, this time for pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
Best known for her single "Breathe Me," which was featured in various television shows and trailers, as well as her work with chillout masters Zero 7, Sia, who toured her previous albums "Some People Have Real Problems" and "Colour the Small One" exhaustively, is already becoming the go-to songwriter for some of the biggest names in pop music.
Sia already co-wrote four tracks off Christina Aguilera's new album, "Bionic," including "You Lost Me," a heart-wrenching ballad she recently performed on the "American Idol" finale, and a song about her young son Max, "All I Need." She also has another song written for...

Inside a soundstage recently at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, Christina Aguilera was talking about the inspiration behind her 2006 album, "Back to Basics," on which she paid tribute to the soul and blues artists who inspired her to sing. Or at least that was what she started to talk about.Seemingly out of nowhere, she was describing the process that led to "Bionic," her futuristic new disc. "Sorry," Aguilera told the 200 or so audience members gathered for this taping of VH1's "Storytellers." "I get ahead of myself sometimes. But they can edit this. Cut and paste!"As it happens, "cut and paste" goes a long way toward describing the choppy postmodern vibe on "Bionic," due June 8 from RCA. Listening to Australian musician Sia with her full, dramatic voice can sound at times so dark, it can give you the wrong idea about her bubbly personality. When you see pictures of her or hear her talk, you want to put on a smock and finger-paint with her while doing the hokey-pokey, drinking Mr. Pibb and watching Saturday morning cartoons.

Though there's no shortage of ambient, mood-conjuring bands emerging from England these days, few are quite as slicked-out or down-tempo as the mates of Stateless. With breakbeats, melodic keyboards and a falsetto that could make Chris Martin blush, the British five-piece infuses trip-hop rhythms with the powerful voice of lead singer Chris James, who frequently earns aural double-takes from those mistaking him for the Coldplay frontman.
