Sutan Amrull (also known as former RuPaul’s Drag Race champion Raja) has debuted the new web series Sutan’s Everything, which will have the glam star give rockers and musicians and personalities makeup tutorials while making them over.
In the first episode, Sutan turns Adam Lambert guitarist Tommy Joe Ratliff into a “Vampire Dandy Ghost Boy.”

Everyone knows that drag queens are wizards when it comes to makeup, but Detox (Matthew Sanderson) just took it to another level. The monochromatic makeup she sported at the finale of "RuPaul's Drag Race" was amazing ... or in drag lingo .. sickening! That's right...the photo you see above is color, but Detox arrived in just black and white -- from her eyes to her fingernails.Detox wasn't the only one who stunned. Raja (Sutan Amrull) dressed as the Hindu God Shiva (reminiscent of Heidi Klum's Halloween costume) while Manila Luzon (Karl Westerberg) was inspired by gay icon Spongebob Squarepants. Meanwhile, Sharon Needles (Aaron Coady) channeled PeeWee Herman and Alyssa Edwards (Justin Johnson) looked like a bloody Teresa Giudice. There were also some non-drag attendees, including a somewhat draggish Aubrey O'Day and Chaz Bono.Click on the "Launch Gallery" above to see all the fierce photos and tune into "RuPaul's Drag Race...

RuPaul's Drag Race is a competition based on the unbeatable criteria of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, but a quick glance at the show's contestant history proves that deadly good looks may be a part of the package. And sometimes the package is part of the deadliness. Ow-ow! Cue the chicken laugh, Detox.

Last month, the startlingly addictive reality show RuPaul's Drag Race, in which drag queens compete to snatch the crown of America's next drag superstar, started up for its fourth go around the track. This season is looking to be, as is the lingo, fierce. The new crew seems talented -- spunky and inventive, with an eye for the kinds of drama that make for "good television." Still, for a big-time show about a subcultural community, there's a lot of scary subtext bubbling under snappy comments and titular editing.
The racial polemics of RuPaul's Drag Race have been evident from the first season, when BeBe Zahara Benet was crowned over Nina Flores and Rebecca Glasscock due, in part, to her Miss-America-style appeals for health awareness in her native country, Cameroon (birthing her trademark call, "Camarooooon"). Back then, a fellow African-American contestant, Akasha, expressed her desire to be "a stripper or a...

It may have been the most anti-climatic moment in the history of reality television: Raja was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar on last night’s third season finale episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Why was it anti-climatic? Internet spoilers had long suggested that Raja would be the victor. But it was also obvious to anyone with eyes: Raja absolutely dominated the competition from the very start, winning the show’s first two challenges and coming up with some of the show’s most interesting and unique designs ever.
Even when Raja didn’t win a challenge (and once even landed in the bottom two), it often had a feeling of the producers simply doing it to add a little drama, not because it was particularly warranted.
That said, Raja definitely falls in the “fashion-oriented” end of the drag spectrum, a fact that probably won’t quiet...

Monday night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race brought the unwelcome and moderately baffling return of pretty/dull Carmen Carrera, who was chosen by Michelle, Santino, and Billy B to get a second chance at the Season 3 title. It didn’t take long, though, for the skin-baring beauty to torpedo her own chances; when the queens were asked to transform straight jocks into dragtastic “sisters,” Carmen chose bedazzled bikinis that displayed her best assets, and left “Lolita” looking like a burly dude in a two-piece. Let’s recap the action via jaunty screengrab.

The constant bitchiness of drag queens never ceases to amaze me. It was but a few minutes into last night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race that found the increasingly nasty Manila Luzon sniping about last week’s sashayer Carmen Carrera: “In the workroom today, there’s a huge, huge void,” Manila started, sounding like she was going to lament Carmen’s exit. But then she brought it home: “That used to be taken up by Carmen’s giant a–.” Zing! Yes, and we’re off at the Race.

The legendary Miss Jody Watley and Carmen Electra popped up as guest judges on a lively episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race on Monday that also served as a nice promo reel for the titular dragster’s music catalog. The queens played a round of “RuSical Chairs,” then headed to the studio to cut renditions of Ru’s “Superstar” from one of six predetermined styles: reggae, hip-hop, country, disco, punk, and pop. Below, a recap using the time-honored art of the screengrab.

Oh, ‘fro she didn’t!!!! Manila pumped up the volume, and all the queens got their frocks off in this week’s music RuPaul-a-palooza challenge. And somebody’s boots were made for streetwalking…
A wise old lady once said “Music makes the people come together…” Okay, that was Madonna. But was she watching last night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race? (Actually, Madge probably has the show re-enacted live in her own London rec room each week, but recast by famous thespians. I’m totally feeling Judi Dench as Delta Work.) Nonetheless, this week the queens mounted their own South-By-South-Tressed music festival, as they all had to become American Idols and sing live and to a song they recorded.
Along the way, the contestants strapped on their heels for a game of Ru-sical chairs, which was probably the easiest mini-challenge ever; these bitches have clearly been toddling in pumps since pre-k.

As a contestant on a reality competition show, there quite possibly might come a point where you survey your competitors, look at how far you still have to go, and just say: “Screw it. I’m not trying anymore.” As evidenced by last night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, that very much seemed to be what happened with one-time favorite Carmen Carrera, who found it difficult to muster much of an effort with any of the challenges that were laid on in front of her. Let’s look at the tale of the tape that led to Carmen’s eventual dismissal.

On Monday night’s edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the six remaining queens shot patriotic PSAs for the troops — though I’m not sure which military base has a drag-friendly policy! — but most of the gals faltered in at least one of the three crucial areas: Fashion, comedy, and/or heart. I suppose Alexis Mateo’s campy polyester pantsuit and “Bam! Bam!” dancing shtick was moderately entertaining, but I couldn’t get what had Ru and Ms. Visage doubled over with laughter. With no clear winner, and with front-runners Raja and Shangela both flirting with the bottom two, Ru...

Week ago, I was obsessed with Raja. Then I fell for Stacy Layne. Last week, I was reals into Shangela! And now, after last night’s delightful, patriotic-themed episode, I found myself falling for the charming Alexis Mateo, who I previously hadn’t been that into so far this season. After loving on all these different gals over the past few weeks, I feel like a Drag Race slut.

It’s been about a month or so since I wrote about season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, a zany, deliciously campy bit of reality goodness that is one of the highlights of my TV week. In said piece, I gave some thoughts on the remaining contestants and a few predictions over who I thought would leave and when. I figured since we’re getting down to the nitty gritty, as tonight will leave us with a final five, it might be time to revisit my thoughts and see how they’re working out.
I’ve been mostly right about the elimination order, which was a nice surprise. In the first episode after I published, the gorgeous Mariah flubbed her impersonation of Joan Crawford during an already underwhelming episode of Snatch Game and then couldn’t remember a word to Jody Watley’s “Lookin’ For a New Love” (c’mon,...

On tonight’s episode of reality delight RuPaul’s Drag Race, the queens will be supporting the troops during the main challenge by each filming a PSA. EW has obtained an exclusive video previewing the PSAs, which as you might guess are rather hilarious. “This is the only land,” screeches Alexis Mateo, “where you can grow up and become whatever you want to be!” Raja adds: “America: Where the son of immigrants can wear her freedom…proudly.” And the always-nutty Yara Sofia weighs in at one point with a twist on RuPaul’s classic episode-ending line: “If you don’t love America,...

Shall we have a small screen comment diversion? There are two things in particular that are urging this post on. One: Gwyneth Paltrow as "Holly Holiday" wisecracking sexed up substitute teacher on Glee and Raja's increasingly commendable and now movie-spoofing creativity on RuPaul's Drag Race.
Let's take Raja first. Rita Rudner, who was the guest judge and comedy coach for this week's challenge (developing a comedy routine), was worried that people wouldn't have seen Carrie (1976) "I haven't seen it in 40 years" and therefore wouldn't get Raja's references. Oh Rita; the gays have seen Carrie! It's maybe not as obsessively worshipped as Baby Jane but it's up there. Raja came out wearing this.
Raja as Carrie, Raja as Herself
They're all going to laugh at you! (On purpose.)
I don't want to stress how much I love Raja and did long before he started referencing great movies like...

When RuPaul brought last season’s first cast-off, Shangela Laquifa Wadley, back into the Drag Race fold in this season’s premiere episode, no one, least of all me, had too high of hopes for the queen. There was a collective “why” from the Drag Race-watching community. We’d seen the woefully under-prepared Shangela peter out and generally be annoying last season — and as I just mentioned, she managed to squash any goodwill she had in just one measly episode.
But somewhere during the current season, surprisingly, Shangela turned into a drag force to be reckoned with. That infectiousness...

The most hilarious things transpire on fashion-centric reality shows when the word “couture” enters the competitive mix. The main challenge on night’s edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the perfect example of the craziness the word inspires: The queens were solicited to create a couture, one-of-a-kind runway look based on one of eight different cakes, including pineapple upside down cake, chocolate lava cake, princess cake, and so on. Truly, it’s a genius test, seeing as how ridiculously over-the-top pastries should provide the ample inspiration for just as over-the-top — and thus couture — fashions on the runway.

"RuPaul's Drag Race" took the contest to new catty heights as the queens took off more than their earrings to battle it out on Monday's (Feb. 28) episode.
There wasn't one touchy-feely moment this week for front-runner Raja as she declared that the "Heathers" have arrived to RuVille. Based on the "B's" from the cult movie, the "Heathers" include Raja, Delta, Carmen and Manila.
As Delta puts it, "We're basically the pretty girls, the top four. And then there's the other girls." Okay?
This week's mini challenge had the queens posing nude for their meals. This ended up being a very telling challenge. Of course, the skinny gals couldn't wait to tear off their clothes for the camera - well, not all of them... I've always been a big fan of mashups, whether it's music or a monkey wearing baby clothes. Seeing two things I love get rolled into one is an exciting delight. And the rule holds true when it comes to my television, which is just another reason I'm loving this season of RuPaul's Drag Race (besides that it's amaaaazing). One of the contestants this season, Raja, is also a familiar face from the far-off land of America's Next Top Model: She's (he's) beloved makeup artist Sutan, who worked on the faces of Tyra's wannabe models for many seasons before moving on to bigger and better things, like being Adam Lambert's makeup artist.
