With 2023 now upon us, you’re probably wondering just what Arkane’s been up to with Redfall. The Xbox Series exclusive was delayed from Summer 2022, and expectations are high. Luckily, Gamesradar sat down with Arkane’s creative director Harvey Smith and studio director Ricardo Bare to give fans some needed red meat on the game, particularly when it comes to its gameplay.
For starters, Bare addresses the view that Redfall is Arkane’s version of Left 4 Dead. Surprisingly, Bare instead likens the game to Ubisoft’s Far Cry series. “”It’s totally understandable for somebody to come to that conclusion. There are four playable characters, you can play together cooperatively, and you’re going against the undead. But, in terms of the way that you play and experience Redfall, it’s not like those games at all. Redfall is more like loading into Far Cry.”
Indeed, Smith describes Redfall as...

Dishonored developer, Arkane Studios, is working on Prey 2, despite previous claims to the contrary...
Although Bethesda may not want you to know just yet, it's been revealed by some leaked emails that Arkane Studios is, in fact, working on Prey 2.
The sequel to the 2006 Fps, previously worked on by Human Head Studios, is apparently being developed by Arkane, and none of the existing Human Head content is being utilised.
Disclosed by Kotaku, which managed to obtain the leaked emails, Arkane Austin is working on a rebooted version of Prey 2, which is currently in the pre-production phase. The other half of Arkane, based in Lyon France, is working on a sequel to Dishonored, and co-director, Harvey Smith, has moved out to France to oversee the project.
According to Kotaku's sources, back in Texas the team hopes to make Prey 2 a spiritual successor to Irrational's System...

From the Press Release
As co-creator of acclaimed video games such as Dishonored and Deus Ex, Harvey Smith uses the interactive medium to construct intricate, engaging worlds. However, his latest project is a semi-autobiographical, Southern Gothic novel that depicts inherited behaviors we cannot escape. Not only a well-crafted narrative, Big Jack Is Dead gives insight into how personal demons are translated into power and escape themes in video games.
Big Jack Is Dead tells the story of Jack Hickman, an antisocial software exec who designs team-building applications in the late 1990s. Controlled and calculating, his world begins to splinter...

Britain's Peter Phillips is hoping to 'reignite the Olympic spirit' with a showjumping event next month. Peter - the son of Princess Anne - is organising the London leg of the Longines Global Champions showjumping tour in Greenwich Olympic Park from June 6-9 and hopes it will prove as popular as the Games did last summer. He said: 'We want to reignite that Olympic spirit from last year.' Peter, 36, is hoping the event - which he originally wanted to stage in Kensington Gardens - can help return the sport to its popularity on the 1970s and early 1980s. He told website Sports Vibe: 'Remember when the likes of Harvey Smith and David Broome were household names and show jumping,...

Eidos Montreal's 2014 release of "Thief" has the misfortune (arguably) to arrive after the well-received "Dishonored," a game whose look and feel was inspired by the Eidos franchise and is fresher in gamers' minds. And look, conceptually, I've admired the stealth game more than I've actually wanted to play it. Give me a game like Ubisoft's first few "Splinter Cell" games, and I'll politely acknowledge the intricacies of the level design which are driven by deliberate, cautious encounters (or non-encounters) with trigger-happy, heavily-scripted enemies. Looking at something like "Tenchu" it was about limited input for an over-matched player character in tightly-controlled game worlds of trial-and-error survival and typically, I've hated every minute of them.
But 2012 saw the release of four titles that took the lessons of their predecessors and evolved the genre in smart ways. Consider the exquisite art and sound design of Klei's "Mark of the Ninja" which made its world one of the deliberate,...

Bethesda have announced a new first-person stealth/action adventure game they will be producing for a release in 2012 titled Dishonored. The game will be made by Arkane Studios, who previously worked on Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. Bethesda will be the ones to produce the game, funding the entire project and advertising for it.
In addition, the game will be worked on by the likes of Harvey Smith one of the top people behind Deus Ex and Viktor Antonov who helped design Half Life 2. Dishonored is described as a first person stealth game where killing is optional. Here is an excerpt from the Gameinformer article that has me extremely excited:
“Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride. It’s a game about assassination where you don’t have to kill anyone. It’s a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the...

Bethesda Software has announced a new first-person game called Dishonored, which Arkane Studios developed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. IGN reports that the game is set for release in 2012.
Arkane was acquired last summer by Bethesda. Here is what the developer had to say about the new title:
"At Arkane we have a passion for creating deep, immersive game experiences. To be able to finally share details of our project is both extremely exciting and satisfying."
They have developed such games as Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. One of the original Deus Ex game designers, Harvey Smith, is also working on the project. The game will be on the cover of the August issue of GameInformer Magazine, where it's described "as having stealth elements. You also apparently don't have to kill anyone and includes some sort of morality system where your actions affect the world around you.

Just a week ago, Zenimax Media Inc trademarked a bunch of websites with names like DishonoredGame.com, DishonoredTheGame.com. One might make the assumption that there's a game called "Dishonored" coming somewhat soon. And they'd be right! GameInformer revealed its August cover today, and it's none other than "Dishonored," a stealth-based first-person game from Arkane Studios which will be published by Bethesda Softworks.
Described as "the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride," "Dishonored" comes from Arkane Studios founder, Raf Colantonio, whose past work includes"Arx Fatalis." Joining him as co-creative director is Harvey Smith, who has worked on "Deus Ex" and "Thief: Deadly Shadows." Rounding out the team is Viktor Antonov, known as the artistic designer behind City 17 in "Half-Life 2."

Video game teasers tend to stick to a certain formula: dazzle the viewer with awesome graphics, show off some of the games' abilities and maybe dribble a little story out to tantalize would-be players. But every so often, one piece of video-centric marketing will float above the rest or sink to join the sludge.
In Clip Analysis, I'll be looking at trailers, teasers and just about any game-related video in an effort to call out what works and what doesn't in terms of communicating a particular game's coolness.
This time, I'll be taking a look at the trailer for "Deus Ex - Human Revolution."
For the bulk of video games' first two decades as popular entertainment, the heroes you controlled were, in the main, square-jawed and sure-footed. You never had the chance to think about how Mario felt about all that jumping or being told over and over again that...
