If you turn on classic-rock radio anywhere in America and listen for more than a few minutes, you’re likely to hear a Foreigner song. “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Urgent,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” topped the charts in the Seventies and Eighties, and really never went away. But rock critics never understood their appeal. “I like rock and roll so much that I catch myself getting off on ‘Hot Blooded,’ a typical piece of...

Lou Gramm, the original singer of Foreigner, currently has concert dates scheduled through November, but he has confirmed that this will be his last year of touring.
The 73-year-old singer is the voice on such timeless Foreigner classics as “Feels Like the First Time, “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.” He left Foreigner in 2003, returning as a guest during live shows in 2017 and 2018.
Gramm, who has battled a myriad of health issues, has continued to perform as a solo act, and will be joining Bret Michaels on the Poison singer’s “Parti Gras 2.0 Tour” this summer. He is also slated to play a number of his own Lou Gramm All Stars shows, currently scheduled through November 9th in Tulare, California. Tickets to several of his upcoming gigs are available here.

Rolling Stone‘s interview series King for a Day features long-form conversations between senior writer Andy Greene and singers who had the difficult job of fronting major rock bands after the departure of an iconic vocalist. Some of them stayed in their bands for years, while others lasted just a few months. In the end, however, they all found out that replacement singers can themselves be replaced. This edition features former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner.

In the last few years, Cj Strock, a talent agent who worked with the later incarnation of the Allman Brothers Band, faced an unusual dilemma. As seen in catalog and merch sales, a market still existed for the Allmans, their quintessentially Southern rock & roll, and their improvisational live shows, but the band itself didn’t exist: They formally gave their last performances in 2014, and Gregg Allman died of liver cancer three years later.
With an eye toward introducing new fans to the band, Strock had an idea — essentially a new Allmans.

The Who have been playing shows with orchestral musicians for the past three and a half years, and every single night has wrapped up with “Baba O’Riley.” But Friday evening at the Ubs Arena in Elmont, Long Island, they stunned their fans by remaining on the stage and ripping into “Young Man’s Blues” as an extra encore. They hadn’t played the song since a one-off in 2014, and have only done it six other times in the past 40 years.

It’s been a while since I penned a Which is Better article on here, so, as seen as Summer is making me wish Autumn was here, and I’m counting down the days for the Halloween season, I figured I’d go back to two of my favourite vampire movies ever, and pit them against each other in this almost-pointless-because-it’s-subjective-anyway battle of evil versus evil, vamp versus vamp. Fright Night versus The Lost Boys.

“One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach … All the damn vampires.”
-Grandpa (Barnard Hughes), The Lost Boys
I respectfully disagree with Grandpa’s sentiment. My favorite part about watching the faux coastal fantasia of Santa Carla is all the damn vampires. Despite being very much a time capsule capturing a certain place and cultural moment, The Lost Boys is simultaneously, a bit paradoxically, as immortal as its titular teenage vampires when it comes to being a genre staple. The 1987 horror comedy was helmed by the late great Joel Schumacher, who passed away on June 22nd. It is being celebrated today ahead of its return to Southern California theaters this Thursday at the Mission Tiki Drive-In, on a double bill with that other terrific ’80s vampire horror comedy, Fright Night (1985). It’s hard to articulate just how special and singular The Lost Boys is, but I have to try.

New York—Sting sang a feisty “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” to Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Foreigner’s Mick Jones and Lou Gramm shared a stage together for the first time in a decade, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry delivered a spiky “Walk This Way” at the 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies here Thursday night (14). Sure, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is great, but many musicians say the hall they really want to join is the Songwriters Hall of Fame. It’s much less glitzy and has no museum (yet) to show off its wares, but...

It's a sweet emotion indeed for Aeromsith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. The Toxic Twins were among a host of musicians including Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm, Holly Knight, DJ Souther, and Tony Hatch that were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Thursday night in New York. The 44th ceremony kicked off with Sting performing a rousing rendition of Elton John's hit "Saturday's All Right for Fightin'," in honor of the Rocket Man, who, along with his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, received the Johnny Mercer Award. (John had been inducted into the Hall in 1992.) Billy Joel paid tribute to Gramm and fellow Foreigner member Mick Jones by leading a sing-along to the...

Was it all just a bad dream? Nope. I’m afraid Highlander 2: The Quickening actually happened. You know a movie exists in a special stratosphere of bad when the filmmakers spend years releasing alternate versions designed to convince us its immortal badness wasn’t their fault.
I’ll never forget sitting in a theater on opening weekend and staring at the screen in disbelief at what I was seeing. I’ll never forget hearing the disgust in the voice of the man sitting behind me, unable to contain his one disdain the moments the words “Planet Zeist” appeared on the screen.
Cackling alien hitmen with porcupine hairdos, winged backpacks, and hover skates flying (on very visible wires) after Christopher Lambert.
An energy shield surrounding the Earth that cannot be shut off because somehow there isn’t enough energy on the planet to use the off switch – the hell?

Footloose gets the remake treatment, and the end result really isn't too bad at all. Here's our review...
Oh, Mr Bacon. It’s been so long. But I remember. That red tuxedo… That yellow Volkswagen Beetle… That warehouse dance sequence. Because that’s how easy it is to fuel a lifelong obsession with Kevin, with his chiseled cheeks and wayward, fuzzy hair indicative of a lifetime spent sticking errant fingers in wayward sockets. What good is Footloose without that monumental fox of eighties funkiness? Can a fresh-faced imposter do justice to those Sunday shoes? Heck, is it worth his while even fastening his shoelaces?
Footloosers everywhere will be jumpy. As well as making Bacon a poster boy, the original movie delivered an iconic soundtrack stuffed with fist-pumping cheese, turning Kenny Loggins into a legend and inspiring impressionable teens to do strange things on living room carpets. Anyone who rooted for...

Hollywood lost another troubled child star early Wednesday morning, as Corey Haim passed away at his home in Burbank, California. He was 38 years old. Haim made a name for himself as the star of a series of huge teen movies in the 1980s, including "Lucas," "License to Drive" and "The Lost Boys."
Perhaps Haim's most iconic performance came in 1989's "Dream a Little Dream," which also starred Piper Laurie, Jason Robards and friend and regular collaborator Corey Feldman. "Dream a Little Dream" also featured the hit single "Rock On" on its soundtrack, which was delivered by soap opera star Michael Damian and featured both Coreys in the music video. The track, originally written and released by David Essex in 1974, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a week in 1989, sandwiched between Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" and "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler. The clip quickly became an MTV staple.
