It’s reassuring that even after spending a large chunk of 2015 making radio-ready pop music with the likes of Justin Bieber, Skrillex can still throw down a set of bone-rattling bass music when the situation calls for it.
Now that Edc Brasil has wrapped up, a direct recording of his performance at the festival has begun making its rounds on social media, and it’s definitely worth watching. Mixing grating bass wobbles with saccharine melodies and borderline chipmunk-esque vocals in the style that Skrillex is known for, the performance succeeded in energizing the thousands-deep crowd in attendance on the evening he played.
Replete with remixes and edits of tracks from the likes of of Avicii, Fetty Wap and A$AP Ferg as well as a whole host of originals, his set made for a spirited return to the style that made him famous back in 2010-2011.

The Hugo Award nominees for the best science fiction of 2014 have been announced. And this year, there’s some major controversy; a number of people have stuffed the ballot box, and oddly, they don’t care who wins.
This takes some explaining, and some wading through muck.
First, let’s talk about Theodore Beale aka Vox Day, a man who was so offensive he was kicked out of the Science Fiction Writers of America and is apparently not smart enough to spell the name of his own blog correctly. He founded his own publishing line, Castalia House, in 2014, and has scored nine nominees on the Hugo nominating ballot this year. Beale was also nominated as Best Editor twice– again, a man who can’t spell his own blog name.
Friends of Beale (using the name “Sad Puppies”) and Beale himself (under the banner of “Rabid Puppies”) set up a coordinated...

Kanye West performed a new song "All Day" during the Brit Awards last week, and today the studio version finally arrived. Some essential* thoughts: 1. Does the voice box melody at the beginning not remind you of everybody's favorite jock jam, Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400?" 2. Paul McCartney's contribution -- so far as it can be tracked and confirmed -- is the beach-day whistling over the guitar riff your dormmate from college freshman year played over and over again And I Get It Kyle You Learned C7 Chord Good For You I Have Midterms In The Morning 3. Theophilus London, Paul McCartney and Allan Kingdom got official contributor credits in the song release to iTunes, but check out the full, all-you-can-eat credits bar for the purchased version: Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Tyler Bryant, Kendrick Lamar, Karim Kharbouch, Cydel Young, Victor Mensah, Mike Dean, Che Pope, Noah Goldstein, Allen Ritter, Mario Winans, Charles Njapa,...

Zombie Nation is no longer just the name of a German one-hit wonder electro group from the '90s — it's also a show on Syfy. Kinda. Sorta. In the upcoming “Z Nation,” the President of the United States is dead and there is no cure for a zombie bite. Or there might be. In the teaser below, Hammond (Harold Perrineau, ”Lost”) is tasked with protecting the only human known to have survived a Z-attack. At some point, DJ Qualls (“Road Trip”) gets involved. The most significant pieces of info to come out of this leak was the finding of information of a number of music stations and songs. The list below shows the traditional mix of Hip Hop, Rock and Country while including artists such as Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears and Muse.
Please take this information with a pinch of salt as the legitimacy of this information has yet to be clarified by Rockstar. Hopefully within the next few days more will be revealed. If true, what do you make of the soundtrack and which artists were you hoping would make an appearance?

I’m not a big fan of the horror genre. I don’t care for horror films, TV shows, novels or anything like that. But I do have an understanding of the genre and the roots that it has in something I really do enjoy: German expressionist cinema.
German expressionist cinema is a type of film that highlights bizarre sets, unusual angles, dark shadows, strange people and strange places. Mental illness was often a feature of the stories in one form or another. Expressionism got its start in Germany in 1913 with The Student of Prague, but it didn’t really take off and come into its own until after World War I. Though the Expressionist movement was largely dead after 1933 (not coincidentally the year that the Nazis came to power in Germany), it nevertheless created vibe that resonates throughout film today, inspiring, in whole or in part, such genres as...

The Game on the set of "Red Nation"
Photo: MTV News
On Tuesday night, underneath the 4th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles, the Game stood surrounded by smoldering dirt and flashing red lights. Smoke billowed in the background and road flares flickered brightly.
It wasn't the scene of an accident, but the post-apocalyptic set for Game's music video "Red Nation," the lead single from his long-awaited R.E.D. Album.
"We shot this real rebel scene. I was over there in a bunch of dirt with rocks, and behind the gate were a bunch of guys I couldn't see, looking all menacing and scary and [with] bats and sticks and poles," Game told MTV News on the set. "And that was kinda crazy, man. I was in sort of like an army fatigue thing,...

Miami — It was another big night at Fontainebleau's Liv nightclub, where Miami's A-list once again turned out to champion one of dance music's best. After Laidback Luke's "Super You & Me" party featuring Skrillex on Wednesday night and an epic set by Swedish House Mafia's Axwell on Thursday, the room was redecorated and the stage was set to host a full night devoted to none other than Kaskade.
Kicking off his day with a surprise guest set at Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 Pool Party at the Surfcomber, Kaskade (born Ryan Raddon) arrived at Liv fully warmed up by the energetic bikini-clad crowd. The line stretched out into the street and the venue was jam-packed with diehard fans lucky enough to get on the right side of the velvet rope of one of Miami Music Week's biggest shows.

Everyone knows that there's only one thing you can do to a zombie: kill 'em again! Of course, killing zombies is only as easy—and fun—as the arsenal you carry, but it looks like the upcoming PS3 downloadable title Zombie Nation has that base covered! Check out the trailer for the game and its weapon upgrade system after the break! According to the Playstation Blog, Zombie Nation is making sure that it sets itself apart from all of the other twin-stick zombie shooters out there (and there's more than you think) by giving players the option, and need, to upgrade their arsenal for better ghoul-grinding ability. It seems obvious weapons like the rifle, shotgun, and Smg are set to be joined...

In its heyday there were over 760 titles released in the Us and Pal regions for the Nintendo Entertainment System, also referred to as the Nes. Many of these games are absolute classics that to this day remain nostalgic keystones in people’s childhoods. Who can forget the first time they hopped on a Goomba in Super Mario Bros., gunned their way through the jungle in Contra or blasted Mother Brain in Metroid? These games, while some not so heavy on story, were crafted in such a way that it didn’t matter that we only had two buttons and a d-pad. We had strongly defined characters in engrossing new worlds with clear elements of mystery and adventure to overcome.
This is a list of some of those games, games where the premise is so strange and the mechanics so unnatural that they’ve either become instant blockbusters or cult classics.
