This was a great reason to skip Friday night dinner: The Gilmore Girls Fan Fest kicked off Friday in Washington Depot, Ct (the real-life inspiration for Stars Hollow) with a gathering of devoted fans, all buzzing with anticipation for next month’s Netflix revival. And Friday night’s “Behind the Scenes” panel discussion — moderated by our very own Michael Ausiello — gave us some juicy tidbits about the original seven-season run of the series.
Joining Ausiello on stage were consulting producer Stan Zimmerman, producer Sheila Lawrence, casting directors Mara Casey and Jamie Rudofsky, key costumer Valerie Campbell and dialogue coach George Bell.

As TV audiences become more and more fragmented, it's always amusing to go back and look at perceived failures from two or three years ago and muse on how grateful the networks work be to have those numbers now. It's a bit less common to go back only a year and look at the numbers a show was doing and go, "Good Lord. What Happened?!?" But it occurs. Case in point: More than a few ratings observers have glanced at this morning's premiere ratings for "New Girl" and then looked back at last year's premiere ratings and gone, "Good Lord. What Happened?!?" Last September, "New Girl" premiered with a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.53 million viewers. By its finale in May, "New Girl" was down to under 2.4 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49. Before going any further, it always has to be repeated: Few shows on TV get...

Fox’s New Girl and The Mindy Project on Tuesday returned down sharply from their previous premieres, leading as they now are out of weaker, non-sitcom programming.
Utopia opened the night with 2.4 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating (per finals) — up a tenth in the demo week-to-week and improving slightly on Glee‘s most recent Tuesdays-at-8 numbers, but a far cry from the 6 mil/2.4 that Dads/Brooklyn Nine-Nine averaged here a year ago.

A few weeks into her daily outpatient regimen of chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (Calif.), Jessie Rees, 11, saw some of the children housed in the cancer ward and asked her parents a question they’ll never forget. "When do all the other kids come home?" Her dad, Erik Rees, explained: "These children have different diagnoses than you do. Some stay days, some stay weeks, some stay years." Then Jessie asked, "How can we help them?" Back home in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. later that day in March 2011, Erik caught his daughter answering her own question by decorating...
