As Mad Men's Peggy Olson, Elisabeth Moss rarely gets to let her hair down, figuratively or literally, so it's a nice change to see an eccentric Moss in the indie musical A Buddy Story. Written and directed by Marc Erlbaum, the movie features original music by Gavin Bellour, who plays the singer-songwriter Buddy. It's being compared to 2006's Once because of its use of original music sung by the characters.

As the hard-nosed Peggy Olsen on Mad Men, actress Elisabeth Moss is more often offered character arcs involving office politics and battles against sexism than she is enviable romance. So it's exhilarating to see Moss get her shot at a romantic lead in the music-driven indie A Buddy Story. Here she portrays Susan, a modern girl with an abusive boyfriend and a hopeful crush on Buddy, the lightly bearded singer-songwriter next door played by Gavin Bellour. When Buddy and his pet turtle pack up to go on tour, Susan takes the opportunity to escape her troubles by tagging along on a road trip ripe with possibilities. A Buddy Story's writer-director Marc Erlbaum found inspiration for the film in the ambitions of his high school pal Teddy Goldstein, who skipped college in favor of pursuing his dream to make music and tour the country. And so Erlbaum scribed a story...

"Sometimes I pretend you're singing to me." This looks adorable, especially because it has Elizabeth Moss ("Mad Men") and the more I see of her, the more I fall for her. And in this, she pretty much knocks me out, there's just some amazingly cute charm in that face of hers. Yahoo has posted the official trailer for an indie film called A Buddy Story, written & directed by Marc Erlbaum, starring Gavin Bellour as a struggling solo musician in New York who lives with his pet turtle. I haven't heard of this before and wasn't sure what to expect, but by the end was sold, this looks like a charmer and the perfect kind of indie to discover. Enjoy! Watch the official trailer for Marc Erlbaum's A Buddy Story, in high def from Yahoo: Buddy (Gavin Bellour) is a struggling musician touring the northeast with his pet turtle. Buddy's...

Title: Cafe Writer-director: Marc Erlbaum Starring: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Daniel Eric Gold, Hubbel Palmer, Richard Short, Garrett Lee Hendricks, Madeline Carroll, Alexa Vega, Michaela McManus, Derek Cecil If one has on their “bucket list” seeing a live-action, achingly precious ensemble drama in which a butterfly recites some of the lyrics to “I Want Candy,” then they should definitely see “Cafe.” Then, and only then. Actually… you know what? They may want to hold up and wait a bit longer, rolling the dice to see if some other enterprising would-be auteur works that left-field tidbit into their armchair-philosophizing cinematic treatise on paying it forward or embracing life or some such malarkey. A sincere...

It came down last week that CBS canceled its Friday night supernatural drama "Ghost Whisperer," which was a bit surprising considering the network kept its Friday night spooky partner "Medium" and that "Whisperer" consistently won its time slot.
There were talks that the Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle would move to ABC but those rumors have been nixed by Executive Producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander. "After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce 'Ghost Whisperer' will not be returning for a sixth season," the EPs said in a statement.
Never fear, Jlw fans! She will be hitting the screen in Marc Erlbaum's drama "Cafe" later this year, which tells the story of tragedy striking a small community and the realization of how the lives of regular cafe customers are entwined.
What say you, "Ghost Whisperer" fans? Sad it won't be crossing over to ABC?...

ABC has confirmed that they have no further plans to pick up "Ghost Whisperer" which CBS had recently cancelled. The Jennifer Love Hewitt show had a chance with ABC since the studio co-produces the with CBS. However, with the show coming to the end of its fifth season, costs in terms of production and talent fees increase. The actress completed work in Marc Erlbaum's drama "Cafe" with Alexa Vega, Madeline Carrol, Jamie Kennedy and Adam Shapiro. That story is set in a cafe in West Philadelphia and tells of when terror hits the community surrounding a cafe and the realization of how the lives of regular cafe customers are entwined.

The 90s, in case you thought they ever went away, are most certainly back. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy, two actors who peaked in the 90s and have stuck around ever since, will star together in Cafe, a drama to be written about directed by Marc Erlbaum. The movie sounds basically like an ensemble drama version of Friends, following a group of Philadelphians who all meet at the same coffee shop where Hewitt's character works. Rounding out the cast, according to Variety, are Alexa Vegas, Madelin Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer. The movie started filming on May 11, which I guess means Kennedy and Hewitt will have to hustle their way over to the set right now. Just remember, guys, you're not heading to Central Perk -- it's West Philly Grounds now.

Could Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy be the next It couple? Probably not, but that's not stopping them from bringing their romance to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Hewitt and Kennedy are going to star in a new indie drama called Cafe from writer/director Marc Erlbaum. Hewitt will play an employee at the local West Philly Grounds coffee shop where Alexa Vega and other ensemble members stop by for a cup.
Already, "indie drama" separates this project from the likes of Kennedy's supremely cringe-worthy feature work, so I can't help but wonder: Is Jennifer the muse that will wipe away our reservations and give Jamie work more worthy of his post-Randy Meeks life?
Meanwhile, Rita Wilson is gearing up to write a new college comedy, according to Variety. Not only that -- she's going to star. Look out Rodney Dangerfield, Rita's going back to school.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy will star in Cafe, which is as far as I can tell an ensemble piece about a bunch of Philadelphia residents who frequent a coffee shop where Love Hewitt's character works. Marc Erlbaum (Head Space) writes and directs. Jamie Kennedy, Alexa Vega, Madeline Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer were all also cast. It is depressing that I don't care about this chick's work but instead wrote up the story for the pictures I'd need to post. And then found...

Jennifer Love Hewitt is making her way back to the big screen! The gorgeous 30-year-old actress has been absent from starring roles since Garfield in 2004 and its sequel in 2006. Love Hewitt has joined the cast of the film Cafe, an indie ensemble drama from writer-director Marc Erlbaum (via THR). Also a part of the ensemble cast are Jamie Kennedy, Alexa Vega, Madeline Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer. The film is about a group of Philadelphia residents who frequent the local West Philly Grounds coffee shop where Hewitt's character Claire works. Shooting already started earlier this month in Philadelphia. This doesn't exactly sound like the greatest project for Jennifer Love Hewitt to return with, but at least it's not a comedy. The reason why I mention that is that this already reminds me of a film called Caffeine, which starred Mena Suvari and was pretty much a terribly ...
