Along with the shift of animated movie Transformers One by one week in September this year, Paramount pushed the Aang Avatar animated movie from Oct. 10, 2025 to Jan. 30, 2026.
The Lauren Montgomery directed animated film stars the voice of Dave Bautista (this was made official at CinemaCon last week), Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Roman Zaragoza. William Mata is co-director.
The big screen movie is based on Avatar: The Last Airbender which was created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. Producers are Konietzko, Dante Dimartino, Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger.
The Last Airbender is big business: the new live-action Netflix series around the globe has clocked an estimated 60M views. M. Night Shyamalan’s only franchise movie in his canon is the live-action take of the Nickelodeon show which grossed close to $320M worldwide.

Transformers One, is going now on Sept. 20 instead of Sept. 13.
The move gets Transformers One further away from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which is going to eat up the September box office. However, already on this weekend is DreamWorks Animation/Universal’s Wild Robot. Two big animated movies are certainly not going to live on the same weekend.
The release date change also comes in the wake of the great reception that Transformers One received out of CinemaCon last week. Late September has been a rich bed for family animated movies including Hotel Transylvania 2 ($48.2M opening), Hotel Transylvania ($42.5M opening) and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs ($34M opening).
Transformers One is among one of Paramount’s highest tested movies in the studio’s history.

On February 22, 2024, the long-awaited live-action adaptation of the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender series finally premiered with the eight-episode first season. The series adapted the initial stories of the popular animated series and regardless of the final result, most fans were actually eager to see what Netflix has done with the series, and while there have been some lukewarm comments, the series was an overall success for Netflix, although it remains to be seen what is going to happen to it in the future.
The original animated series, as well as its sequel, The Legend of Korra, are considered to be among the best animated series in history and are among the most popular animated series in the world. Avatar: The Last Airbender has become somewhat of a hot topic lately. After the wildly successful Nickelodeon TV show took the world by storm, there was a disastrous attempt to create a live-action movie in the past. But more recently, Netflix tried and was in fact successful in bringing Aang and the gang into the live-action world through their latest series.
Now, Paramount, along with Nickelodeon, are taking a stab at it to make a successful movie adaptation of the popular cartoon. The cast was recently announced, and the choice of Eric Nam to voice the adult version of the lead character isn’t sitting right with many people.

As part of its big CinemaCon Presentation this year, Paramount let loose a barrage of animated movie news, not the least of which was word that Dave Bautista and Eric Nam are aboard to lend their voices to what is currently titled Aang: The Last Airbender.

What a time for "Avatar: The Last Airbender" fans to be alive. The Aang Gang was first immortalized in Nickelodeon's original animated series, one that practically altered the brain chemistry of countless kids of my generation and introduced us to the sheer potential of storytelling. Netflix most recently took advantage of the nostalgia and goodwill the show still enjoys, translating the tale of Aang's destiny as the Avatar and his war against the Fire Nation into a live-action retelling that quickly justified a second and third season. All that took place as a backdrop to the news first reported two years ago, of course, which indicated that Avatar Studios (headed by the creators of the original show, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino) was going all in on a trio of new animated movies set in the world of "Avatar."

The voice actor chosen for a beloved villain in Avatar: The Last Airbender was originally picked because he reminded the creators of another iconic villainous performance.
It’s pretty amazing, how the casting director for Avatar: The Last Airbender actually got Jason Isaacs to voice Zhao! This wasn’t just about getting a famous actor; it meant getting the exact person who inspired the character. Isaacs’ performance really captures Zhao’s ruthlessness, making him a serious threat to Aang and his friends.

Three animated “Avatar” movies — no, not the ones about the Na’vi — are in the works at Paramount and Nickelodeon.
The upcoming films are based on “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” the anime-influenced TV series about a boy who can manipulate water, earth, fire and air. Paramount, who made the announcement at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, did not share plot details about the forthcoming trilogy.
Lauren Montgomery, who worked on “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” is directing the still-untitled film, which already has two sequels in the works. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino will produce the “Avatar” movies with Eric Coleman.

The agreement, which includes the previously announced feature films “Luck” and “Spellbound,” will also include what Apple billed as “first-ever theatrical-quality animated television series” for Apple TV Plus subscribers.
Skydance Animation is a division of Ellison’s Skydance Media, which is run by John Lasseter and president Holly Edwards. The deal reunites Lasseter with the Cupertino giant decades after he founded Pixar with the late Steve Jobs.

What do you do with your life now that Voltron is over? Try one of these shows!
Voltron: Legendary Defender season 8 just arrived on Netflix, ending its incredible eight-season run and leaving fans with a great hole in their hearts. While the ending was extraordinary, that also means it’s over. What do you do with your life without Voltron? How can you go on?
Fear not, fans! We have some recommendations for shows that may fill your heart the same way Voltron has. Shows that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer. Shows that, perhaps, can capture some of the same magic of the series we all love. You might even find a new favorite!
We’re not including any of the previous Voltron series here because hey, that’s way too obvious!
Robotech
Robotech had a huge effect on Voltron’s showrunners Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos.

Voltron: Legendary Defender’s ending was pretty conclusive, but could there be more stories to tell?
This article contains spoilers for Voltron Legendary Defender season 8.
The ending for season 8 of Voltron seemingly tied up all loose ends. The galaxy was saved and the characters are all moving on with their lives. There was no hook that any great evil was still out there, so it seems like the Voltron Legendary Defender story is at its end.
Or is it? After all, there was that line about the Holt family establishing the next generation of Legendary Defenders along with imagery tied to Vehicle Voltron. Could fans hope to see a sequel or spinoff?
In previous interviews with Den of Geek, showrunners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery have discussed the possibility of a sequel or spinoff but nothing has ever been confirmed or given serious discussion (as far...

After Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse we'll get a Spider-Women animated movie, likely featuring Spider-Gwen.
While we're still a few weeks away from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse opening, Sony is already feeling good about the prospects of an animated Spider-Man universe. After years of failing to get a Spidey-centric cinematic universe off the ground (despite the unlikely box office success of Venom), the early positive buzz on Into the Spider-Verse has clearly emboldened the studio, and they're looking to make their mark in ways that Marvel Studios won't.
To that end, in addition to putting a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel into development, THR has word that Lauren Montgomery, one of the showrunners of Netflix and Dreamworks' excellent Voltron: Legendary Defender is likely to direct the project, as well. THR says that the untitled animated movie will "gather the female heroes of the Spider-Man universe of characters in one adventure,...

Sony Pictures has big plans for their Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film franchise! The first movie has yet to be released, but the studio is obviously feeling confident in the future of the franchise.
According to THR, they are already developing a sequel to the film along with a spinoff that will focus on a team of female characters!
The studio has hired Joaquim Dos Santos to direct the sequel. He is best known for his work on animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and Netflix’s Voltron series. Then there’s Lauren Montgomery, who has also worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Netflix’s Voltron. She is currently in talks to direct the all-female spinoff movie that it said to “gather the female heroes in the Spider-Man universe of characters in one adventure.” Bek Smith, who wrote episodes of the CBS show Zoo, will write the script.
