White’s portrayal of Xavier Thorpe and Ogawa’s role as Yoko Tanaka left notable impressions, and their absence raises questions about how the story will evolve without them. In contrast, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo who plays Deputy Ritchie Santiago, has been promoted to series regular for...

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered, eventually becoming the most-watched original series ever on the streamer ever with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things‘ Season 4, Dahmer and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.

Netflix on Tuesday morning unveiled the series regular and guest cast for the upcoming second season of its hit Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.
As the announcement suggests — and Deadline has confirmed with sources — three Season 1 series regulars whose characters were alive and well in the finale — Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa — will not be returning in that capacity next season.
Of the three, only McShane is slated to reprise his Sheriff Donovan Galpin role as a guest star, likely to wrap the story of his character who was left devastated in the Season 1 finale by the discovery that his son Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was the Hyde after the sheriff shot and temporarily incapacitated the monster.

With a fresh Leading Actress Oscar nomination for the role of Mollie Kyle in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Lily Gladstone is next set to enter sci-fi territory with upcoming movie The Memory Police—a move that will also reunite her with Scorsese, set to executive produce.
“It’s on an unnamed island at an unnamed place, unnamed time,” Gladstone said of the new film, during a Q&a following a Killers of the Flower Moon screening in LA on Sunday. “So it takes place nowhere and therefore everywhere.”
The Memory Police will be directed by Reed Morano, with a script from Charlie Kaufman, adapted from the Yōko Ogawa novel of the same name.
“The adaptation is done by Charlie Kaufman,” Gladstone continued, “so it’s labeled as a sci-fi, but in the way that [Kaufman’s previous films] Eternal Sunshine [of the Spotless Mind] or Synecdoche [New York] was a sci-fi. It...

Oscar-nominated ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ actress Lily Gladstone has been set to join the cast of the adaptation of ‘The Memory Police.’
Gladstone’s latest role will see her reunite with the ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ helmer, Martin Scorsese, who will executive produce the project. The story is an adaptation of the acclaimed 1994 science fiction novel by Yoko Ogawa.
Also in news – Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza set for dark comedy ‘Honey Don’t!’
The story takes place on an unnamed island situated off an unnamed coast, where the majority of the island’s inhabitants are subjected to collective amnesia. They go through a process where they forget things, including people, objects, and daily rituals that are enforced by an organization called The Memory Police. In the novel, a writer tries to hide her editor, who still remembers everything, from the Memory Police while he encourages her to write her book.

Lily Gladstone is set to follow her acclaimed performance in Killers Of The Flower Moon with a new Charlie Kaufman project.
Lily Gladstone is widely-tipped to win the gong for Best Actress at this year’s Oscars and we’re sure there’s no shortage of offers given how warmly her performance in Killers Of The Flower Moon has been received. It’s always fascinating to see the choice an actor makes in the wake of such success and in Gladstone’s case, she’s chosen to work with Reed Morano whilst also reuniting once more with Martin Scorsese.
The project Gladstone has plumped for is The Memory Police, an adaptation of the acclaimed 1994 science fiction novel by Yoko Ogawa.

Last week, Imagica Infos a publishing and advertising business centering on light novels and magazines, and printing giant Dai Nippon Printing (Dnp) had announced a collaboration to produce “light anime”, a format which includes animating works with about 10% of that of a traditional television anime.
Following the reveal regarding Light Anime, veteran animator Mizue Ogawa, who has worked on Bleach, Attack on Titan and other prominent series, questioned this production method and raised her concerns about how it will change the animation industry.
She wondered if it would be better to read manga or light novels, if the plan was to forcibly push forward the crude “light anime”, which simply relied on partially animated manga panels coupled with voice acting.
“If you’re going to make anime that’s this crude and forced, why don’t you just read manga or novels instead? (A simple question). What is light animation?...

This post contains spoilers for the Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 finale
As we all know, “Lower Decks” is about a quartet of ensigns in the shadow of big important Starfleet ships like the USS Enterprise-d. Despite their unenviable position, the four officers remained committed to their mission, even to the point that one of them sacrificed their lives.
What? No, I’m not talking about Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, Sam Rutherford, or D’Vana Tendi. No, I’m talking about the original “Lower Decks” crew: Sam Lavelle, Sito Jaxa, Alyssa Ogawa, and Taruk.
One of the standout episodes of the uneven seventh season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Lower Decks” followed Nurse Ogawa, a longtime background character working with Dr. Crusher, to focus on her and her oft-ignored friends. That episode ended with the death of Bajoran Ensign Sito Jaxa (Shannon Fill), redeeming her participation in a dangerous...

Kyoshi Sugita is a name the international festival-going audience became aware of since his debut “A Song I Remember” (2011), but the true break-through came with his much anticipated ” Haruhara-san's Recorder” (2021). In his contemplative, gentle drama “Following The Sound” about three people's different ways of dealing with grief, there is a lot of following in its most literal sense, and the sound may just be a part of it all, but it still leads the way. As a proper introduction, the film kicks off with a scene in which the main character Haru (An Ogawa) gets emotionally transported to her past by listening to the recording of burbling water, and that particular tape will remain a key to maintain her connection with the past, and making her ready ready to connect other dots.

Tokyo, Sep 4 (Ians) Japanese researchers have revealed the mechanism how breast cancer evolves as the entire process — from the early stages of cell mutations starting in puberty to their manifestations as breast cancer
in later years — has remained shrouded in mystery.
The team from the Kyoto University showed the mechanism by which breast cancer is formed in the cells of the mammalian epithelium, whose main function is to secrete milk. The findings are published in the journal Nature.
According to the team’s first analysis, approximately 20 mutations accumulate annually in each epithelial cell until menopause. After menopause, however, the mutation rate significantly decreases.
“Additionally, our results suggest that oestrogen influences mutation accumulation in mammary epithelium, which correlates with our discovery of decreased accumulation after childbirth,” said Seishi Ogawa from the varsity’s Graduate School of Medicine.

Paralyzed by societal lockdowns, spiritual isolation, and deaths in the millions, the aftermath of Covid-19's rampant virulency continues to deepen the ignorance of a people left traumatized and numb by its ceaseless waves of devastation. Simultaneously fresh and distant, memories of the decade thus far are still distinctly raw, a stinging reminder of mortality, impermanence, and the absurd futility of existence. Though humanity blazes forward with its eyes firmly negating the rearview mirror, many remain immobilized in a state of ennui, desperate yet incapable of regaining control and contentment. Daisuke Miyazaki's coming-of-age drama ‘Plastic' wades into the deep end of this murky quagmire and slowly subdues itself under the crushing weight of its own hopelessness; stripped of pleasure and joy, both the film and its characters struggle to merely exist in a world brought to a complete standstill.
