His dramatic directing debut was at age 24 with the 1998 short docu-drama "Memoirs of a Western Newspaperman," which won "Best Short Film" and garnered him "Best Director" and "Best Editor" nominations at the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Awards.
The short film_Shipwrecked (2006)_ marks The Bolton Siblings' second short film effort.
Shipwrecked had a successful international festival circuit tour of more than 25 festivals worldwide, garnering a nomination for Best Cinematography for Devon at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, "Second Prize" at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, "Best Short" at the Calgary International Film Festival, Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival, The St. Petersburg Short Film Festival, The Sedona International Film Festival and a $5000 cash prize for Excellence, and the "BAFTA/LA Short Film Award" in Mill Valley.
Shipwrecked has also screened at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, and The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.
Devon was formerly a nationally represented Commercial Director. He has worked with agencies in both Canada and the US, where he developed specialties in Comedy, Classic Storytelling, and Visual Effects-oriented spots. His self-taught experience as an Editor, Compositor, and CGI and Visual Effects Supervisor has enabled him to work on both sides of the production and post production worlds.
Devon and Kirsten completed their third short drama "Promise" in 2008, and have several feature-length projects in development, including adaptations of three Canadian novels, to which they have penned the screenplays.
