Exclusive: New York-based cultural institution Villa Albertine and Unifrance have announced the selection of French features due to be showcased in the 10th edition of their joint Young French Cinema program.
The initiative aimed at promoting films in the U.S. by emerging French filmmakers without domestic distribution will showcase 11 titles this year.
They include Marie Amachoukeli’s Cannes Critics’ breakout Àma Gloria, Virginie Verrier’s female soccer pioneer bio-pic Marinette and Erwan Le Duc’s father and daughter tale No Love Lost.
Under the program, the titles are made available for booking by arthouse cinemas, film societies, the Alliance Française network and universities across the U.S.

France’s César Academy has unveiled its annual Revelations list showcasing 32 emerging acting talents making their mark in the French-speaking cinema world.
The 16 selected actresses include Suzy Bemba for her performance year in Catherine Corsini’s Homecoming. Bemba was also seen in Venice Golden Lion winner Poor Things this year.
The selection also features Rebecca Marder for Corsica-set thriller Grand Expectations; Garance Marillier, for bio-pic Marinette about French female soccer pioneer Marinette Pichon, and Park Ji-min for her award-winning performance in Return To Seoul.
The actor list includes Milo Machado Graner, who plays the visually impaired son in Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, Marc Zinga’s for his performance in Belgium’s Oscar entry Omen and Samuel Kircher for Catherine Breillat’s taboo-breaking drama Last Summer. His brother Paul Kircher is also in the selection for The Animal Kingdom.

The trailer for Ayenda, the upcoming documentary short from MSNBC Films and Time Studios about the Under-18 Afghan National Women’s Football Team, has been released a day before its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on Saturday, June 10.
The film — from director Marie Margolius, who produced alongside Connor Schell, and with a list of exec producers that includes Trevor Noah and Rashida Jones — tells the true story of how members of the team carried out a daring escape from their homeland in 2021 after Kabul’s fall to the Taliban. In the trailer, the women listen to the phone call they received telling them that they needed to leave Afghanistan immediately, giving them instructions on what to do.
Ayenda is set to air on MSNBC and Peacock this summer, as well as get a theatrical qualifying run for the 96th Academy Awards.
