- She spoke French, English and German. Upon her death, she requested contributions to be made in her memory to the Public Broadcasting System in Arlington, Virginia or the New Hampshire Public Radio in Concord, New Hampshire.
- She exercised horses at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France and taught actors to ride.
- She married Oskar Werner in 1954 and they traveled the world together. They lived in Liechtenstein. After their divorce in 1968, she returned to the United States and settled in North Hampton, New Hampshire. She worked as an aide teaching deaf children to speak for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at the North Hampton Library. She returned to France every summer to her mother's sheep farm, Contramundo, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, outside of St. Jean De Luz.
