Phd has hired a strategy director to handle lynchpin client Anz.
Phd won the Anz media business a year ago, and opened a Melbourne office off the back of the account.
Daniel Isaac has joined Phd’s Melbourne operation from Mediabrands as strategy director to lead the global Anz strategy team.
He will work alongside Simon Lawson, business director on the Anz account and report to the national executive team of Mark Coad, Toby Hack and Chris Stephenson.
Isaac replaces Angela Feruglio, who will now lead Phd’s non-anz business.
Phd claims to have won $24m in new business in Melbourne in the last three months, hiring six people to handle the workload.
The new faces include Roshani Roberts from Zenith Optimedia as senior account manager, Verity Goold from Starcom Melbourne as account manager and Olga Shchur from Canon in the UK as digital account manager.

The advertising and media industry needs to focus on better modelling if it’s to stand a chance of accurately predicting campaign outcomes, argues Simon Lawson.
If your experience is anything like mine, then your newsfeeds have been overflowing in recent days with advertising’s gurus making their predictions for the year ahead. I’ve noticed them more this year because they’re being made at the same time I’ve been reading Nate Silver’s book – The Signal and the Noise.
For those unfamiliar with Nate Silver, he’s a statistician who came to prominence after correctly predicting the winner in 49 out of 50 states in the 2008 Us election and gained further stature after picking all 50 states in the 2012 Us election. Prior to his involvement in political forecasting, he used his statistical ability to forecast the performance and changing value of major league baseball players. Think Moneyball.

Media agency Phd has opened its doors in Melbourne. The move was driven by the need to service new client Anz, which it won at the beginning of the year, along with Tourism Victoria.
Simon Lawson has made the move from Zenith Optimedia, where he was business director on Honda, to be national business director on Anz.
Meanwhile Angela Feruglio – previously at Mindshare Melbourne is global business director on Anz.
Maree Cullum is trading director on Anz and Sasha Neame is digital director, having joined from Starcom.

Honda Civic has launched a new website intended to allow consumers to record a track using sounds the car itself makes.
The Civic Sounds campaign is fronted by Australian band Bluejuice, who will judge the submissions and pick the winning piece. The composer of the winning track will win a trip to Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival.
The elements include beeps, engine noises and the sound of car doors slamming.
Jason Deacon, associate creative director at DTDigital, the digital agency behind the campaign, said in a press release: “Rather than simply browsing tech specs and features, we wanted people to interact with the Civic in a way that’s unique to them”.
Honda marketing manager Kevin Lillie said: “Civic Sounds is a key part of the ‘Symphony in Motion’ launch campaign for the new Civic. We wanted users to experience for themselves how the components of a Honda work together beautifully,...
