‘Drag Me to Hell’ – New Australian Blu-ray Celebrates 15 Years of Sam Raimi’s Horror Return [Review]
Of all the masters of horror that helped to reshape the genre as we know it in the ’70s and ’80s, none were more successful in branching out and achieving commercial success within the studio system than Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy laid the groundwork for the influx of comic book movies that would follow, but he was eager to return to his roots following the third installment’s turbulent production.
Armed with $30 million and complete creative control, Raimi dusted off a story he wrote with elder brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi back in the ’90s to make his triumphant return to horror with Drag Me to Hell in 2009. The Raimi broters seemingly drew inspiration from 1957’s Night of the Demon but injected it with a heavy dose of Evil Dead DNA, most closely evoking Evil Dead 2‘s cartoonish blend of over-the-top splatter and tongue-in-cheek humor.

The article contains spoilers for "Drag Me to Hell."
It looks like a particular cursed button might be making life hell for someone in the future. According to a recent Reddit Ama with Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Sam Raimi, the creative team of the upcoming movie "65," the possibility exists for a sequel to the 2009 Raimi horror film "Drag Me to Hell." Even as a person who isn't always the biggest fan of horror films — not because they aren't incredible, but because I'm a huge 'fraidy cat — this was one I loved. The idea of a return to the curse of a woman punishing someone for lacking compassion is intriguing.

Following the groundbreaking release of “Avatar” in 2009, James Cameron’s epic sci-fi franchise about a humanoid species called the Na’vi is finally back with the first of several sequels. After a 13-year gap, the saga will pick up with “Avatar: The Way of Water” in December before continuing on with what are currently being dubbed “Avatar 3”, “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5” in 2024, 2026 and 2028, respectively.
Stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver and others look back on the original while teasing what’s to come as “The Way of Water” picks up on their story over a decade later.
“It’s been about 10 years,” Weaver tells Et of the time she’s committed to the franchise since starring in the first one. “And then, in the meantime, Jim Cameron has written four amazing stories about what is now a family, the Sully family. And so, the stakes are higher. There are more amazing characters.

"You have a strong heart… no fear." After returning to Middle Earth, we will be returning to Pandora again this year. 20th Century Studios is re-releasing James Cameron's billion dollar sci-fi epic Avatar in theaters again at the end of September before the highly-anticipated, long-awaited sequel lands in theaters this December. Avatar is getting a proper 4K Hdr re-release (if projected perfectly it's mesmerizing) in regular cinemas and IMAX theaters to take people on their first voyage to Pandora all over again. The unforgettable movie stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, plus Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, Cch Pounder, Wes Studi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, and Giovanni Ribisi. It makes sense after 13 years since the original movie opened they'd bring it back to build up some hype for the sequel. And this will put to rest all those "does anyone even remember Avatar?...

Thanks to New Zealand’s containment of Covid-19, James Cameron has been able to continue full speed ahead on his “Avatar” sequels. In fact, he’s almost done filming not just one, but two of them.
At the 2020 Austrian World Summit, Cameron sat down earlier this week for a remote one-on-one with his “Terminator” compatriot, Arnold Schwarzenegger, where he discussed the progress he’s made on his plans to turn his 2009 sci-fi box office record-breaker into a five-film saga.
“The day we deliver ‘Avatar 2,’ we’ll just start working on finishing ‘Avatar 3,'” Cameron said. “So where we are right now, I’m down in New Zealand shooting. We’re shooting the remainder of the live-action. We’ve got about 10% left to go. We’re 100% complete on Avatar 2, and we’re sort of 95% complete on Avatar 3.”

"You never really remember the beginning of a dream... do you?" Warner Bros has unveiled a new official trailer to celebrate the 10th anniversary re-release of Christopher Nolan's Inception, which originally hit theaters in the summer of 2010. This re-release is connected with the delayed release of Nolan's latest movie Tenet, which has been rescheduled to open in the US starting in September. Inception is Nolan's complex sci-fi thriller about a team of thieves who are given the task of planting an idea inside the mind of a CEO, but end up finding themselves caught in a trap. The cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, and Marion Cotillard. Everyone knows all about this movie and we've talked about it at length, and hopefully cinemas will be safe enough to catch this on the big screen again. We've also included two fan-made posters below,...

Just over ten years ago, Inception arrived in cinemas (remember those?) like a well-dressed jigsaw puzzle and caused us all brain ache. As twisty, knotty, turny now as it ever was, director Christopher Nolan’s dazzling sci-fi adventure also remains one of the chicest attired movies of all time. In honour of Inception being a decade old, we caught up with its costume designer, Academy Award nominee, BAFTA and Costume Designer’s Guild winner, Jeffrey Kurland. Not so much an interview, more a reminiscing chat as Mr. Kurland recounts his approach to the film, costume clues and unmissable sock moments. Plus we even cover that apparent ‘shirt malfunction’ from one of his more recent movies, Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018). He won’t be drawn on his next film for Christopher Nolan though, Tenet. Well, not much…
Let’s do some memory lane.

A small Avatar 2 crew is heading back to New Zealand to complete filming on the first sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 box office smash. They will reportedly enter a two-week quarantine period before production restarts on the long-in-gestation movie.
Producer Jon Landau confirmed the move in a new interview with Rnz, where he explained that the country’s excellent response to the Covid-19 pandemic has allowed work on Avatar 2 to resume more quickly than on other projects.
“We feel very comfortable because of the actions of [the Nz] government and also the responsibility the people took to really curb the virus there,” he said. “So we feel we’re coming back to the safest place in the world possible thanks to a team of people that we’ve worked with. We believe we have a very thoughtful, detailed and diligent safety plan that will keep everybody as safe as possible in these unprecedented times.

That’s a wrap on filming this year for James Cameron’s forthcoming Avatar sequel.
The official Avatar Twitter account shared a behind-the-scenes photo Friday to mark the end of live-action filming for the year. The picture offered a behind-the-scenes look at a craft called the “Sea Dragon.”
“That’s a wrap, Na’vi Nation!” the photo was captioned. “It’s our last day of live-action filming in 2019, and we’re celebrating with a sneak peek. Check out this photo of the aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels.”

Filming began last week for the long-awaited Avatar sequels, 2 and 3. While on set this week, producer Jon Landau snapped a photo of director James Cameron wielding his 3D camera amidst knee high waves from a wave machine, alongside a wall of fire. The photo was posted to the Avatar twitter page, where they say you should follow @JonLandau for other updates.

As SAG-AFTRA’s two factions threaten to fracture the guild further – now they’re threatening to see each other – independent presidential candidate Jane Austin has embarked on a campaign to unify the 160,000-member union in advance of next year’s negotiations for a new film and TV contract.
Saying that “the two-party slate system represents an antiquated system that no longer effectively serves the interests of the membership,” Austin now is rolling out her endorsements for board candidates from both parties – incumbent president Gabrielle Carteris’ Unite for Strength slate and challenger Matthew Modine’s Membership First opposition slate. Austin, currently the guild’s national secretary-treasurer, was elected to that post two years ago on the Membership First slate.

Unite for Strength, the ruling party of SAG-AFTRA, announced its slate of candidates today in the union’s upcoming elections.
Michelle Hurd, currently serving on the national board, will be running for president of the Los Angeles local; Clyde Kusatsu and Ellen Crawford will be running for vice president slots. Kusatsu is currently the national vice president from La, and Crawford is a national board member. As previously reported, Camryn Manheim will be running for national secretary-treasurer as president Gabrielle Carteris’ running mate.
Two candidates are challenging Carteris for president: Jane Austin, currently the guild’s national secretary-treasurer who’s running for president as an independent, and Matthew Modine, who is running at the top of the ticket for Membership First. His slate has yet to be announced.
In New York, Rebecca Damon, national executive vice president and New York president, is running for re-election as New York president.

Some of the most memorable movie sequences take place in the most unremarkable of locations: a simple corridor. Here are our favorites...

(L-r) Josh Mauga, Cliff Curtis, Dwayne Johnson, Roman Reigns and John Tui in the new Fast & Furious
Actor Cliff Curtis modestly acknowledges he is not a brand or a marquee name, despite a vast body of work which includes Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider, The Dark Horse, Blow, Three Kings, The Insider, Sunshine, Training Day, Collateral Damage and Crossing Over.
That could soon change as Curtis plays a key role in the latest iteration of Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise, followed by a recurring character in all four of James Cameron’s Avatar epics.
In Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw he plays the brother of Dwayne Johnson’s character, diplomatic security agent Luke Hobbs, who teams up with mercenary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to stop a new threat — “super-human” terrorist Brixton (Idris Elba). Directed by David Leitch, the action adventure is due to open in August.

Release date, cast, plot, budget and everything else you need to know about the many Avatar sequels...
When Avatar was released back in 2009, it was kind of a big deal. Beating the record that he set with Titanic, James Cameron’s sci-fi epic grossed more than $2 billion to become the highest-grossing film of all time – spearheading the short-lived 3D renaissance, blurring the lines between live action and mo-cap animation and selling a whole lot of HD TVs.
Never one to take the easy route, Cameron quickly announced plans for not one but four sequels – each to be filmed back to back and all to be bigger and more technologically advanced than anything else ever made.

Head to the movies this weekend to see Logan Lucky, and you'll see more than Steven Soderbergh ending his moviemaking retirement phase and returning to the big screen. (You've been greatly missed, sir.) You'll see more than just Channing Tatum and Adam Driver playing down-on-their-luck Southern brothers who hatch a plan to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway. You'll even see more than Daniel Craig sporting a bottle-blond crop-cut hairdo and Seth MacFarlane sporting something on his head that looks like a cross between a mullet, a Jheri curl and roadkill.

'Jurassic World' velociraptor kicks Iron Man ass at worldwide box office. 'Jurassic World' officially surpasses 'The Avengers' at worldwide box office Directed by Colin Trevorrow; starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Vincent D'Onofrio; and co-executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, Jurassic World has officially become the third biggest worldwide box office hit in history. The Jurassic Park sequel – or reboot, as it's basically the same story with a slightly different twist – has surpassed Marvel's Joss Whedon-directed all-star superhero flick The Avengers, which broke box office records back in 2012. Of course, "officially" just ain't what it used to be – like, in the days before The Fall. So you wisely ask, "But which movie has actually sold the most tickets?" After all, that's the true measure of a film's popularity. Well, that's a tough one to answer without the studios providing accurate, precise numbers. And that's not about to happen. It always...

‘Avatar 2′ and follow-up sequels’ release dates revealed (image: Na’vi Sam Worthington in ‘Avatar’) Avatar, James Cameron’s late 2009 (and early 2010) blockbuster that spearheaded the (currently dwindling) popularity of 3D movies, will have three sequels. Why exactly that has come as a surprise revelation for some is unclear. Sigourney Weaver, who for quite a while has been scheduled to return for the Avatar sequels, had already mentioned that there would be three movies, filmed concurrently much like Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Anyhow, James Cameron and Avatar distributor 20th Century Fox have announced that the three sequels will be released as follows: Avatar 2 (not to be confused with Avatar: The Last Airbender or Avatar: The Legend of Korra or online thumbnail avatars) will reach theaters in December 2016, a full seven years after the original. The Indian star was thrilled when Christopher Nolan agreed to meet with him to discuss the role of Yusuf in the movie, but he had to use his Bollywood success to make it to the audition on time after his assistant's in-car global positioning system failed and they found themselves lost in Los Angeles.
He recalls, "I had only 10 minutes... Suddenly I saw an Indian taxi driver... I waved down the taxi driver and I said in Hindi, 'I am Anil Kapoor, the actor from India. Please take me to this place.' I left Brittany (assistant) there.
"I did not get the role, but I was on time. And I got the autograph... I wanted him (Nolan) to sign my DVD of Batman."

Earlier this year, when it was revealed that Anne Hathaway had been cast as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s hugely anticipated “The Dark Knight Rises,” fans were apprehensive. Had the announcement been made immediately after Hathaway’s career affirming turn in “Rachel Getting Married” (2008), folks might have been a little more accepting. But one over-eager Oscar hosting stint and a string of unremarkable performances later, many are doubting the actress’s ability to do justice to the iconic character.
While Hathaway may not possess (or, has yet to demonstrate) the seductive cool required to tackle Catwoman (this appears to be the main complaint being levied against her), I’m sure she will be plenty convincing as the anti-heroine’s socialite alter-ego, Selina Kyle.
