Former Disney Channel star Meaghan Martin has claimed she was “berated, bullied and manipulated” while filming the sequel to Camp Rock.
The actor starred opposite Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas as Tess Tyler in the 2008 musical and its follow-up Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
In a post shared on Instagram on Saturday (27 August), Martin – who first began to speak about her experience in a 2021 interview with The Independent – said that she had had a “really difficult time” filming the 2010 sequel.
“Not only was Tess butchered after giving her such a lovely character arc in the first movie, but I also had mononucleosis,” Martin wrote. Mononucleosis (more commonly known as glandular fever in the UK) is an infection that can cause extreme fatigue.
“I was 17, working mostly outdoor night shoots, during a very cold Canadian autumn (like [snowflake emoji] cold), and I was so so sick and being berated, bullied and manipulated...

There's straight-to-video shame, then there's straight to TV shame. The following small screen follow-ups, then, are the most shameful of the lot.
Please note, however: all of the following first aired on the small screen. They may have ended up on DVD later, but they're telly specials through and through...
1. Home Alone 5: The Holiday Heist (2012)
Original film: Home Alone (1990)
Returning cast members: None
Stars: Christian Martyn, Jodelle Ferland, Malcolm McDowell
You'll remember the first two, and might have a dim recollection of the third - new kid, new goons - and the fourth will, hopefully, mean nothing to you (old kid, new actor playing kid, old goons, new actors playing goons, shot in South Africa).
The fifth, however, is the biggest stinker of the lot, a schmaltzy Christmas edition with a new kid, new family and new goons. Also, Malcolm McDowell - of Clockwork Orange fame - is in it,...

Mean Girls celebrated its 10th anniversary in April, and now Lindsay Lohan is championing a sequel. Speaking to Time Out London, she says, "People really love the movie How do you top that? I was with [writer] Tina Fey the other day and I said, 'We should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they're all housewives and they're all cheating.' That would be really funny. I'll harass Tina to write it."
If a sequel were to happen, Lohan will need to revise her schedule. "In five years I would like to be married and have children, and hopefully be at the Oscars, but that's as far as it goes for now," she says.
Whether Lohan realizes it or not, Mean Girls 2 already happened. The TV movie premiered in January 2011. It starred Nicole Gale Anderson, Claire Holt, Meaghan Martin,Jennifer Stone and Maiara Walsh. Tim Meadows was...

The classic story of Peter Pan is getting a teen angst-filled retelling with the Alloy Entertainment web series “Wendy.”
Meaghan Martin, who starred in the ill-fated ABC Family show “10 Things I Hate About You,” stars as a modern-day Wendy who must choose between the boy she loves, Jackson, and literally the boy of her dreams, Pete, played by “Pretty Little Liars” star Tyler Blackburn. At first, it's not clear whether Pete is real or imagined, but he becomes more tangible as the fluffy web series goes on.
Pete's first appearance is as part of a band performing at a party, and much of his and Wendy's first interaction is without words -- because in teen shows like this, dialogue doesn’t matter; it’s all about the bedroom eyes.
Unlike it’s Disney counterpart, this brooding Pete can sing, and he’s in a band. Alloy released the single, “Save Me,...

Vanessa Lemor (Savanah Wiltfong) is your typical not-so-typical teenager, going through life overly focused on a boy, Philip. In a relationship (of some sort), Vanessa is surprised when Philip suddenly breaks things off, and it quickly becomes difficult to decide which of them has a bigger Philip infatuation.
In her effort to reconnect with (stalk) Philip, Vanessa decides to transfer to his private school, and because of her half-Eskimo heritage, she manages a scholarship. Of course, things do not work out quite according to plan, and Vanessa finds herself instantly on the bottom of the social ladder. She has to find a way to claw her way up if she wants Philip to pay attention to her, but she soon begins to wonder if she wants Philip, or wants out of her popularity exile.
That's the short version of Dear Lemon Lima, a spin on the classic coming-of-age formula that...

Essentially a women’s “Napoleon Dynamite,” “Dear Lemon Lima” is a lovely mix of deadpan quirk and pastel-shaded whimsy — a meandering take on the awkwardness of adolescence, the perils of unrequited love and how we learn to understand and accept tragedy. Though it focuses on somewhat blunt messages about self-awareness and compassion, the recipe works because the characters are actually experiencing how trite sayings about accepting yourself and others get translated into real life.

In the film, Vanessa Lemur (Savanah Wiltfong), a part Yu’pik (western Eskimo) girl living in Fairbanks with her single mother (Eleanor Hutchins) enrolls in the same private high school as her ex-boyfriend Philip (Shayne Topp) in an attempt to win him back. The recipient of a scholarship for Eskimo students...

The Plastics are back with the Paramount Home Entertainment release of Mean Girls 2 and M&C.s giving away five copies of the DVD! It is the long awaited follow-up to the smash-hit Mean Girls and now the clique is more fashionable, funny and ferocious than ever! Confident senior Jo (Meaghan Martin) begins the new school year by breaking her own cardinal rule: don.t get involved in girl drama. But when she sees timid Abby (Jennifer Stone) preyed upon by Queen Bee Mandi (Maiara Walsh) and her minions, she takes sides in a viciously funny girl-world-war that turns the whole school upside down. Mean Girls 2 is written by Cliff Ruby, Elana Lesser, and Allison Schroeder. The film was directed...

So Mean Girls 2 premiered on ABC Family last night, and as Gretchen Wieners might say, it was so not fetch. The flick tells the story of a pretty outsider who transfers to North Shore High, befriends an unpopular artist, and conspires to bring down the Plastics, a group of three snotty, cruel classmates: a devious queen bee, a dumb, promiscuous blonde, and a high-strung brunette. Soon enough, the protagonist gets a makeover and becomes a member of the ruling class herself. It’s only after a major crisis turns the entire school against her that our girl can get...

Jennifer Stone may be best known as the quirky Harper Finkle on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place (TV), but in her newest movie role, she's preparing to take on The Plastics. Jennifer will be appearing in Mean Girls 2 (2011), the sequel to the popular cult classic Mean Girls (2004) starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. The movie airs Sunday, January 23rd on ABC Family, with a DVD release set for February 1st. We recently had the chance to ask Jennifer some questions about the film, her character, and the amazing cast that drew her to the project - a cast which includes Meaghan Jette Martin, Nicole Anderson, Maiara Walsh, and Claire Holt. Even with a rapid-fire shooting schedule, the 17 year-old actress found plenty of time to enjoy the experience and bond with the girls. Here's what she had to say. You’re co-starring in Mean Girls 2 which airs this Sunday.

Ready for the return of the plastics to North Shore High School? Meaghan Martin certainly is. The actress, known for her roles in ABC Family's 10 Things I Hate About You and Disney's Camp Rock movies, stars in Mean Girls 2 -- premiering Sunday, Jan. 23 on ABC Family -- alongside Jennifer Stone (Wizards of Waverly Place), Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives), Nicole Gale Anderson (Make It or Break It), Claire Holt (H20: Just Add Water), Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars) and Tim Meadows (Glory Daze).
BuddyTV's Carey Proctor and other members of the press had a chance to chat with Meaghan Martin about what it was like to work on the sequel to 2004's hit Mean Girls, how her role differs from that of Lindsay Lohan's in the first film, and how to deal with real-life high school bullies, among other things. See what Meaghan had to say.

Queen bees, the Plastics and your average high school clique cattiness. They're all making a comeback on Jan. 23, as ABC Family plays host to the world premiere event of Mean Girls 2.
While the original cast from 2004 isn't on board, the sequel to Mean Girls will be featuring faces we've come to know on the small screen recently. Leading the group is Meaghan Martin, known for her roles in ABC Family's 10 Things I Hate About You and Disney's two Camp Rock movies. Joining her is Jennifer Stone from Wizards of Waverly Place in addition to the girls playing the Plastics: Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives), Nicole Gale Anderson (Make It or Break It) and Claire Holt (H20: Just Add Water).

When "Mean Girls 2" premieres on ABC Family next month, you won't find Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams or any of the original Plastics. Instead, a gaggle of Disney stars have assumed the lean, mean roles.
In the straight-to-tv-and-dvd sequel, which wasn't written by Tina Fey this time, Meaghan Martin of Disney's "Camp Rock" and "Camp Rock 2," stars as Jo, the new girl at North Shore High School this time around. There she meets Abby (Jennifer Stone of Disney Channel hit "Wizards of Waverly Place), not exactly the most popular girl in school.
In defending Abby, the number one target of the Plastics, Jo gets caught up in the drama of girl world and the lead Plastic and the school's queen bee, Mandi, played by Maiara Walsh, of Disney Channel's "Corey In the House."
There is one familiar face. Tim Meadows, who played Principal Duvall in the original, reprises his...

Mark your calendars -- or, you know, don't: "Mean Girls 2" will have make its premiere on ABC Family before heading to DVD.
ABC Family says it will debut the movie, a quasi-sequel to the 2004 movie starring Lindsay Lohan, on Sunday, Jan. 23, eight days before its DVD release. Given that the movie stars a carload of Disney-bred actors, the ABC Family debut isn't much of a surprise.
The plot of "Mean Girls 2" pretty much follows that of the first movie: New girl Jo (Meaghan Martin of "10 Things I Hate About You") makes an outcast friend (Jennifer Stone, "Wizards of Waverly Place") at her new school and becomes a target of a popular clique called the Plastics, led by Mandi (Maiara Walsh, "Desperate Housewives"). Drama, comedy and revenge ensues. Nicole Gale Anderson ("Make It or Break It") and Claire Holt play Mandi's fellow Plastics; the movie also stars Diego Boneta...

I still haven't seen the original Mean Girls, but it seems to qualify as a chick flick that has found a strong cult following outside of the usual audience one would expect for such a thing. It doesn't hurt that it was written by Tina Fey, and that the humour in it is both dark and clever. Now, with the recent success of Easy A, it would appear that the time is right for a Mean Girls sequel. Unfortunately, I don't think this direct-to-dvd cash grab is really what anyone was hoping for. The story involves a high school outcast named Abby (Jennifer Stone) whose father bribes a new student named Jo (Meaghan Martin) to befriend her. The two then take on the school's "mean girls" aka The Plastics. Of course, these aren't the same mean girls since none of the original cast members are returning, with the exception of Tim Meadows.

Remember Mean Girls? Well, Mean Girls 2 sure wants you to. In fact, the first 20 seconds of the minute-and-a-half trailer for the sequel highlights clips from the first film — which, sadly for the new Plastics, only serves to remind us how tough it is to top Rachel McAdams & Co.
In the sequel, which goes direct-to-video Feb. 11, two high schoolers (played by Meaghan Jette Martin and Jennifer Stone) attempt to take down their school’s perkily evil mean girls, who, as in the first film, are nicknamed the Plastics. Only one problem: I thought Tina Fey’s Ms. Norbury successfully disbanded the group — and therefore,...

I’ve still never seen 2004 ‘classic’ movie, Mean Girls which starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried but everyone says I should! It looked a bit like Clueless (both of which you can buy in a box set here for £2.64 – bargain!!) and after going to see that at the cinema when I was 15 in a screening full of screaming girls, Mean Girls never seemed to appeal!
For the millions of you out there who love it though, check out this brand new trailer for Mean Girls 2 which is coming straight to DVD in February 2011. It stars Jennifer Stone, Maiara Walsh, Meaghan Martin, Nicole Gale Anderson, Claire Holt and is directed by Melanie Mayron.

Seven years and several Lindsay Lohan rehab trips after the first Mean Girls, the straight-to-dvd remake is upon us. Though not arriving until February 2011 (Happy Valentine's Day!) the trailer is currently making its way around the interwebs, complete with a very healthy amount of footage from the beloved original, as if to remind us how much we loved it back in the day! Though bullying is no longer acceptable, the new Mean Girls engage in their fair share of cafeteria cattiness, with Camp Rock's Meaghan Martin replacing Lindsay in the role of new girl. Just don't mistake Meaghan for Lindsay,...

Hey guys, remember “Mean Girls?” Fun little movie that came out back in 2004 as sort of a “Heathers” lite for the 21st century, with a star-making turn from Lindsay Lohan and an even more impressive screenplay from son-to-be queen of all comedy Tina Fey?
Well, get ready for a surprise, because “Mean Girls 2″ is about to come out and Paramount has just released a new trailer to prove it.
Of course, if you’re wondering why such a presumably high-profile film has never been mentioned anywhere before, there are a couple reasons to explain it. Firstly, Lohan isn’t in it. Also, Fey had nothing to do with it either except, presumably, cash a big royalty check. Oh, and it’s direct-to-video. So there’s that too.
But hey, we aren’t in the business of being haters; that’s what the characters in the film are all about,...

Demi Lovato might got into the alleged altercation with a dancer because she was caught partying. Offering details of the fight that sent her to rehab, People magazine reported that the "Sonny with a Chance" star confronted a young dancer on the Jonas Brothers world tour whom she thought might have been the one telling on her.
A source close to the "Here We Go Again" singer's family first explained to the publication, "As she did on most nights off, Demi invited her band, dancers and her parents to dinner. Afterward, she broke off with a very small group." Another insider suggested that the songstress and the group had been partying.
On the day of the reported altercation, tour managers and Demi's stepfather, Eddie De La Garza, questioned the group over the matter. "When tour management found out about this, they talked to the people involved, including Demi," the source shared.

The gang returns for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, and there are new faces, a new camp across the lake, and a new batch of songs to fuel the campy productions and teen antics. As syrupy as this strange, mid-budget excuse to string together music videos with Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers may be, it’s actually a pretty fun vehicle, and the kids are sure to love it.
Oddly, there is more meat to this run through than the original, and while the addition of a new camp rivalry may have much to do with that, I suspect it is mostly because returning to camp offer more to work with than simply going to camp.
Mitchie (Lovato) is bursting with excitement upon returning to Camp Rock, and the idea of jamming it up in the woodsy setting is all she can think about. Well, apart from seeing her friends again…...
